When you guys get them, please update if they are able to be used wired. I still use iPods, and even with the official Apple lighting to 3.5 cable it didn’t work. And they were charged as well. Thanks.

Got them. As of yet, I have no success with USB-C. My Beats Solo 4 are functioning properly over USB-C, and the audio quality is substantially improved. Could you please provide any insights into potential errors I may be making with the AirPods Max.

Your fine. It’s just as I assumed. You still can’t play audio thought a wired connection. That’s totally unacceptable, for a pair of $500 headphones.

So is that a firmware bug? You could play lightning to usb c with the current ones so I’m confused…

As I recall, the initial connection was 3.5mm analog to Lightning, facilitated by a specialized cable. Subsequently, Lightning was introduced as the input port. Therefore, I anticipated a similar setup, albeit with USB-C as the input. However, USB to Lightning connections have proven unsuccessful. Consequently, I suspect I am overlooking a crucial aspect. With the collective experience of more knowledgeable individuals, we will undoubtedly uncover the missing element.

I’m torn between blue and midnight. The blue is much more muted from online pics (I preferred the OG), but midnight is the same color as every other headphone on the market. I guess I need to see them in person.

When referring to an USB-C to 3.5mm cable, you are specifically referring to a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). There are numerous DACs available, including one from Apple.
However, the older 3.5mm to Lightning connector is an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). There is currently no 3.5mm to USB-C cable (ADC). These „cables“ are commonly referred to as Audio Interfaces, which are used to connect microphones or guitars. However, this are not the „cables“ you are seeking, so we are unfortunately out of options.

I went ahead and ordered the blue based on online pics, and they should be delivered on Tuesday. It was between that and midnight. I really enjoyed the originals I used for a week – but I returned them when the “revised” ones were announced three days later.

It’s a very blue-gray color.

I just received my blue AirPods Max (USB-C) from Apple and they look nothing like that photo. They are very blue – the band and case is not as vibrant as the primary blue on the original, but it’s actually a little more tasteful. I can’t really see a difference at all with the cups, which match my blue iPad Air (M2). I’m thrilled with them!

It’s gotta be the lighting. Under different lights I’ve seen them look much more blue, but I agree, it looks great. I have a blue iPhone 15 Pro and they pair nicely.

Maybe I just got used to them when I had the lightning version for a week (I returned them for the newer version), but the clamping doesn't seem as tight on the new pair, which were like a vise. They feel much more comfortable.

Ordered the AirPods Max USB-C in midnight colour on September 20th, received them 5 days later. Very happy with sound and fit. They seamlessly move to the iOS device or Mac I'm using.
