Yes. As we mentioned several post ago, this seem to be a bug related to having multiple apple devices.

in my case, the work just fine (10% daily battery drain when in case) after a factory reset. And keep working fine while I use it ONLY with my iPhone or iPad.
But after a few days, after using the AirPods Max also with my Apple TV HD and 4K , my Apple Watch, MacBook Pro, the overnight battery drain appears again, losing around 40-50% over night.

then, I have to perform the factory reset again and start the same cycle ?
So it indeed looks like a multiple-device bug. Hopefully, they can fix that shortly and easily via software update.

The best fix: plug them in when not in use. problem solved. I used to use my MacBook plugged in 24/7 and after 6 years the battery capacity was at 95%. so there's no harm in having these plugged in most of the time. it'll save it from going through battery cycles and degradation

Oh whoops sorry, I missed that previous post

I agree that it won't do harm, though I think the problem is the end user shouldn't have to do this

yup. but I'm sure we all feel the same: we love these things too much and are willing to deal with this major flaw bc we hope it'll be fixed or that we will get used to resetting and charging more often.

Not sure if this is related but so far I have had the issue twice and done two factory resets. I connect my AirPods Max to my 2015 iMac 27", a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9, a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 and a iPhone Pro 12 Max 2020. I also have a 2017 MacBook Pro running Big Sur. And occasionally I connect them to one of two of my Apple TV 4K.

So having the quick switch functionality is super worth it for me, and I really wanted over ear headphones, and I love the transparency mode for listening to music while in the house with people whom I talk with... Also the microphones work really great on video calls which are so much more common these days than they used to be.

Anyhow, whenever I do a factory reset I have problems pairing with my 2015 iMac 27". The iMac is running Big Sur and it is super fast with a 500GB SSD and 32GB of ram and a 4GHz quad-core processor. But for some reason if I pair to my iMac then it doesn't show on my other devices. On my other devices it says these AirPods Max are paired with another account or something like that... Even though my iMac is logged into the same iCloud account.

However if I pair the AirPods Max with my iPhone after a factory reset then it works with all my other devices except for my iMac. My iMac doesn't see the AirPods Max. But then sometimes after an hour or so my iMac starts to see the AirPods Max. Even though the other devices see the AirPods Max immediately. This is further frustrating because the iMac is the computer that I do my main work on.

I should say that I have Beat's Studio3 headphones, PowerBeats Pro headphones, AirPods, and AirPods Pro headphones and none of them have ever had this problem with my iMac vs my other devices as far as I know.

Anyone have any idea why that is happening? Thanks!

95% over 6 years is physically impossible, even if that’s what software reported the battery would be rooted and not actually last a fraction of that time. Keeping rechargeable devices plugged in for extended periods of time is bad for battery life, which is why Apple now implements ‘optimised battery charging’ on all their supported devices.

That’s incorrect and explained in the video below after the 8-min mark:

Yes this happened to me the first time I paired them. My MacBook Pro took a loooong time to recognize it. But I do think that’s regarding to an iCloud sync to Big Sur problem. After that I’ve had some issues connections occasionally . What I did was a factory reset again and it solved the problem. Unpairing wasn’t necessary.

It’s interesting that you mentioned all those devices. And had the battery drain problem . I think we are seeing a correlation here.

This video only made me love more the headphones. Just weird how good battery life he had.
Maybe ours are defective.
I only see a 10% drop on mine every 24 hours while in the case, so it’s close to what he talks about. I have the exact same behavior when they hit 1%: it takes more than an hour to actually kill the battery.

My battery was losing 1-2% an hour whilst in case. Yesterday charged to 67% using iPad pro. Today 14 hours later still on 67 %!!!!

I suggest you watch it again. He never said that.
"Now what's interesting is that once they hit 90% charge they stop charging and just sit there for a long while, even though there is no optimise charging toggle."

Maybe my brain isn't working, is that not exactly what he said?

Did you watch after that? He elaborates on that, including all the power draw specifics.

first time in a month of use, last night was at 99%, the next day i checked at 6 PM and it was 96%. now that's acceptable. everyone keep updating your overnight drain numbers so we can see the pattern

I will post it here too.... I charged them to 100% before leaving for 4 days and after coming back, they were at 99%. So once they go into the ultra low power mode after 18 hours, battery drain is minimal.

seems like when they work like they're supposed to, it's perfect. so there's definitely a major bug causing these drains more than a couple percent overnight.

What should be the overnight drain if say the low power mode didn’t automatically kick in (whether in the case or not)?

12+ hours after using the APMs... they still show up on my devices bluetooth with charge%. Why are they still connected  and is this causing battery drain?
