During a phone call when I had the iPhone 6s it would drop the connection.

Just recently I just picked up a iPhone 7 plus and I did not have this issue at all.

Just wanted to let everyone know. But I notice battery life is not that great. 1.5hr conference call and they were down to 19% after a full charge.

Nothing to do with having an iPhone 7 or plus. I have a 7 and the disconnects during calls occurs.

Pro-tip: use one earbud and alternate when the battery gets low with the one that's charging in the case!

That's in line with the specs, isn't it? The AirPods single charge talk time is 2 hours according to Apple:

Power and Battery
AirPods with Charging Case: More than 24 hours listening time, up to 11 hours talk time

AirPods (single charge): Up to 5 hours listening time, Up to 2 hours talk time

15 minutes in the case equals 3 hours listening time or over an hour of talk time

Wondering if anyone can help. I have been using airpods for few hours now and found in calls there is a major hiss when someone talks. Also, my Bluetooth knocks out in one of my rooms in the house when away from my iPhone 7 (might because there is tech in there that could be interfering. Other BT headphones etc ). However the biggest problem is that the connection drops in one or the other ear randomly, so started doing some tests. If I cover my ears with my palm(like a cacoon /earmuffs/ as if trying to block the noise out from the world ) one or both stop producing sound. Could this be a sound connection issue or I just have a bad pair?

Hey,

Is it normal for my Airpods to loose charge, when they are not in case, but also the bluetooth is not on, or when I disconnect the Airpods manually from bluetooth options?

My snag is following... I must use Earhoox for my Airpods, so I would like to keep Earhoox in place and only take them out from Airpods when I'm recharging the Airpods. Saves time that way, not removing them all the time.

I noticed that when I take Airpods out of case, but disconnect the connection from Iphone bluetooth settings, the Airpods still are taking charge... I also tried switching off bluetooth, but still Airpods draw power, when not in case...

Are these stupid things made in a way, that they loose a charge even if the bluetooth is not on or have been manually disconnected from BT options? Do I really have to take my Earhoox out every time and put Airpods back to case, so that they do not loose charge?

Thanks!

Batteries lose charge over time. Period. That is their nature.

Well that sucks... I would have hoped, that when the Airpods are not in use (connection is disconnected), they would not use any battery neither.

Car does not use gas when the engine is not running.

Apple says "AirPods shut down and charge whenever they're in the case."

To me, that means they are not shut down when they are not in the case.

Ya so I opened my case it was 96% after leaving it overnight for 6-7hrs at 830am. The AirPods had 100%.

I checked after 3 hrs: Case was 92% and AirPods had 96%.

I wonder if opening the case woke them up and it keeps checked the Bluetooth connection.

Just wondering: anyone else wearing the AirPods on opposite ears?

AirPods fit my left ear just fine. My right ear not so good. It won't fall (even when running), but I can feel it loose. So, I tried the right AirPod on my left ear, and vice versa. They stick out a bit more this way, but they fit me better.

Yes, my ears are kinda funny as well, my right ear has a better fit than my left ear, but I didn't switch them. Instead I twisted them forward (see video below) and I find that I have a better seal than having them go straight down.

.(I'm still wondering if anyone else has the "unpausable via Siri" problem with iCatcher, but I guess that app isn't nearly as popular as I thought. Might switch back to native podcast app I guess.)
I use Downcast and have the same problem. I can't pause via Siri.

Thanks for the sanity check. The way iCatcher behaves, you say "Pause" to siri and it will give back a text confirmation like "Okay, I paused it", but as soon as the Siri overlay disappears and iCatcher has focus again on the phone, it resumes/auto-plays. (even though its auto-playback option is disabled.) Does this sound like the same behavior?

Yes this is exactly what happens in downcast. BTW this happens whether I am using Airpods or not. Certain Siri commands work and some don't. For instance in Downcast you can customize the skip back and skip forward time amount. No matter what I set it to, Siri always skips 15 seconds. I don't think devs have access to the API to change any of this.

Ah, interesting--I never tried to use Siri for any transport stuff on iCatcher before I had the AirPods; I was using the neck-hanger LG Tone BT headset for podcasts and audiobooks, and those have hard buttons for transport controls that always behaved as expected. I guess I'm really going to have to get used to using the watch for some of this.

I picked up a pair today from my Apple Store after finding out they had stock. I had been debating them for a while as an alternative to my QC35s which I use for my commute (or when my household is being particularly loud).

Initial impressions are good. I've been using them on and off all evening since I got home. Like EarPods they feel loose in my ears, but it takes some jumping around for them to start to dislodge. They'll be thoroughly tested at the gym tomorrow morning.

Sound wise, the AirPods are nothing to write home about, though they are clear enough for casual listening. They are louder than standard EarPods which is good when you want to drown out background noise, though my concern with this is that leakage might be notable even at moderate volume. I'm apprehensive at the thought of people close by easily listening in. The sensors really are impressive. The AirPods pause/play immediately when I put them on or take them off. I can't "fool" the sensors to get them to play while in my hands. If I cover the sensors then play music on my Mac for example, nothing comes out of them. As soon as I put them back into my ears, the Mac will intelligently switch.

Switching between my iPhone and Mac however isn't quite as smooth. In this regard, the AirPods are just as clunky as my Bose headphones. It isn't a big deal, but I thought that the handoff process would be a lot smoother.

I'll post more impressions as I test them throughout the week. Tomorrow morning it'll be the gym (which may be the deciding factor on whether I ultimately keep them), and I'll be paying close attention to battery life.

I got my airpods yesterday. My iPhone 7 Plus is on ios 10.1.1.
Can my airpods work with my phone or do I need to update the software?

True, but it's battery needed to start the car will loose it's charge unless it's re-charged by the alternator, powered by the engine while burning gas.
