Sorry if this has been asked already, but does anyone know of any good skin/wrap for the extended part of the AirPods? And if so, would it still fit into the case with it on? I'd love to just make the part sticking out black to make it stealthier.

Stealthy will be boring. I'm waiting for someone to make skins for the holidays. :D

You could try simple electrical tape, but that may be too thick for the case + I'd be concerned with heat melting the adhesive within the case & possibly ending up down where the charge contacts are.

Another possibility may be heat-shrink, but again, it's risky as the heat gun would need to be applied for minimal time so as not to damage/melt(!) the Airpods themselves..

I wouldn't do it....

Does anyone have any audio issues when used with their Mac?

Calls/music fine with iPhone. Music fine on Mac, but FaceTime and Siri use was very distorted and the person on the other end said they couldn't hear me loud/clear at all.

I've seen a few posts mentioning issues when using an iPhone 6s, Apple Watch and the AirPods. I have a 6s and a S0 Apple Watch. I've been having intermittent Bluetooth issues since iOS 10, I'm pretty sure. Disconnects in my car, etc.
I just got the AirPods a few days ago. I experience momentary cutouts and disconnects frequently.

When I began having the car issues I reset my phone, wiped all data and restored from the backup. That didn't fix anything. Subsequent iOS updates seem to have made things better but I'm wondering if others are still having the same issues I am.

I have jaybird x3 and when I run with no phone and AW it breaks up the music often. Hate it. Just bought some AirPods today. Hoping they cure that.

Hmm picked them up. They are not as loud as I had expected as I feel like I read so many reviews with how loud they were. Sound quality is ok. I have to get over that. I knew it wouldn't be great. Need to exercise with these and see if they solve my issues with the x3. They x3 sound awesome but constant static while running and that is why i bought them.

Also having some connecting issues. Hopefully whenever they firmware updates it will fix that. Now I have to open them 3 or 4 times to get them to connect. The case is plugged in but I can't get them to update the firmware.

There are two threads discussing skins and wraps. I've already tried the SlickWraps, and am waiting on another brand now.

I finally got my AirPods at the Apple Store today. They seem to work perfectly & I'm surprised at the good sound. However I am having issues getting the slick AirPods out of the case! My fingers keep slipping on them. Any suggestions to make getting the AirPods out of the case easily? Maybe I'm "holding it wrong".

I'm not surprised. On the few occasions I've seen someone with them they're always the centre of attention, it'd drive me nuts.

I used the replacement AirPods for hours yesterday and they never missed a beat. Seamlessly switching from music to audio calls and back again.

Yet this morning on an audio call they kept switching over to the iPhone for audio and I had to manually put it back. Happened about 8 times over the space of a half hour period. Very frustrating.

Hello,

I have been around 2 weeks the AirPods.

I am really very satisfied with the usage.

What makes me a little insecure is the use in sports (Crosstrainer, Spinnig)

The AirPods are not waterresistant and just at these sports you get really sweat.

How big is the risk that the AirPods will be damaged?

What are your experiences? How do you manage this?

I have the identical issues and I've completed the identical steps you have - almost word for word. I have and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple Watch S2, AirPods. Same issues are still happening. It's the most irritating thing because the dropping connection the the car is happening more and more. You don't drive a VW by any chance do you?

When receiving a phone call and airpods are in their case I often cant get them to pair at all or it takes several minutes for the to connect properly. Any ideas if there is a faster way, ie holding the case very near phone while opening the lid or is that just for initial pairing?

Just seen The Guardian's review of AirPods, it's largely positive but this line in particular stood out during the summing-up.

I would pay twice the asking price for a set of canal-bud AirPods with proper sound isolation and a few more controls.

That's exactly how I feel about them.

But I won't be getting rid of them any time soon because the convenience and user-experience of these is brilliant, even though its compromised.

I give a little twist so they poke up. Easy to grab then.

I just got a set yesterday. Sound seems good. Only had a few hours to try them out. But I had a lot of signal drop in that short time which was concerning but I'm willing to keep trying.

Earlier this week I couldn't get the Airpods to connect to my Apple Watch...It would connect play for awhile then disconnect, wouldn't re-connect...over and over. Happened outside my home & in the car. I got frustrated & connected to my iPhone & the sound kept cutting in and out. Very annoying. So yesterday I set up a repair & return to get a new pair & return my current pair.

Now of course they have been working, even double tap for Siri. I don't get it. Is it some kind of signal interference or a defect with the Airpods? I have experienced random connectivity issues from the beginning.

I posted similar above - the behaviour is inconsistent more than anything. I'm on my third pair now and thinking about it, I had to take some long calls in a Starbucks in central London this week. I was on my laptop and all around were other people on laptops, loads of cellphones and there was zero problem with the connection dropping.

Yesterday and today, its just me in a room with my laptop and the connection is switching from phone to AirPods a lot during calls and pausing the music. So I don't think its being caused by the amount of other wireless signals going on in the space or surely it would have been worse when I was in the coffee shop.

Me too. So spot on. The convenience and entire experience are so classic Apple. Even down to the "snap" of the lid on the charging case. Everything just feels so premium. It's unfortunate about the lack of sound isolation.

Ok, I've had mine about two weeks; I second the sound issue re: not as loud vs. same audio setting vs wired. Love not having wires! But, Siri for me is mostly not available when used with a desktop as I'm connected via VPN so Siri cannot "call home".

I know there's a preference re: double-tap for Siri / pause, which you can set on the iPhone via settings, but where is this setting kept? Can I dis Siri when used with a desktop ?

Returning mine. Ambient noise, lack of inline controls, and sound quality all let me down. I still recommend them to others. Case is awesome.

Yeah, that's really how I'm feeling about these too. Case is just so classic Apple. Awesome design and experience. Love W1 chip pairing. I don't like lack of sound isolation and I don't like no inline controls.

I've always been amazed by Apple's little touches that make even a clearly plastic device seem like it's been thoroughly thought through and considered. The charging case is a beautiful example of such a thing. They could have easily just gone with a button on the back with an LED indicator of charge, but instead that info is served to you right in the device.

Even the "fade? effect on the charging LED is a nice touch. You could just have it immediately blink amber or green, but instead there's a slight fade (which requires coding to do so). When you slip in an Airpod it "blinks" with the fade effect as if to acknowledge you, rather than immediately going solid green or amber.

The little things...

just got mine yesterday a couple of issues. like I would take one out when I needed to hear or talk to others. I put it in my pocket and maybe in a few minutes my book would start playing again. now that I have it set up to start and stop with a double tap it should take care of it. one weird thing I had the right one just stop playing tapped it twice sopped it and tapped again and it was back. I have noticed the bluetooth glitches seems to have just started. I notice when I change something they may stop then slowly creep back.
