How long did it take to go from "preparing for Shipment" to "Shipped"?

My Best Buy order from 1/18 has been at "In Progress" & "Processing" since I ordered. A couple of days ago I looked at my credit transactions and saw they had charged the total and placed it back in the same day so maybe soon?
For what it's worth, my Best Buy order from 1/19 changed from "BACKORDERED" to "In Progress" within the last 24 hours. But the "expected to ship by" date is still March 8th.
-Nope, never mind, still listed as "BACKORDERED" on the main "Orders" screen. Only inside the order does it say "in progress" there goes the hope... haha

Staples online often has them is stock, had them this week a couple of times, we have alerts for that (sometimes false positive I must reckon). They do,'t get depleted too fast, shipping is immediate and haven't read about any cancellation.

Bit the bullet and ordered mine from Best Buy today. I had been trying all the tracking sites, hunting locally, etc and keep coming up empty handed. Figure if I keep waiting for a sure thing I'll never get them at this rate. So I now have an estimated ship date of March 16th.
Anyone who's ordered from Best Buy recently care to chime in on the average wait time? Is it the same as everywhere else? I saw a post on The Loop at one point indicating they actually ship much quicker than 6 weeks, but that was a while ago.
Ideally I'd like to not wait a month or more, but we'll see how it goes. Tempted to just give some opportunist on eBay an extra $100 and get them now.

Same boat, except I haven't placed an order yet. If I do, I suspect Apple might be the quickest place to order from as opposed to a third party retailer. Luckily an Apple Store isn't too far from my job so hopefully I can snag a pair sooner than later.
I signed up for istocknow notifications, but it seems the east coast in the US is pretty dry of stock when it comes to the AirPods.

Actually, I think Apple will only be quicker if you manage to catch them in stock and snag a pair for in store pickup. Otherwise, that 6 week estimate seems pretty firm. I have a ton of Apple Stores nearby, and have been trying that method to no avail. I'm still keeping an eye out, but just gave up hope at this point.

INTERESTING...I wonder what spurred the change of status? Has Apple cut off all supply to all retailers temporarily like they do for new iPhone releases when demand surpasses stock? Hmm...
Crap. I must have ordered last night just before the cutoff. This does not bode well.
I ordered mine on the Apple website on 12/28 with a scheduled delivery date of 17 Feb. Credit card was charged last night, and they shipped out today from Harrisburg, PA via UPS, scheduled delivery Friday 3 Feb. Woot! At long last! I'm guessing Apple has a warehouse somewhere near Harrisburg - which is only a two-hour drive from my house.
Weird. I live in NE PA and mine shipped today from Nashville, TN. Won't be here until Monday.
Ordered 12/24 with a scheduled delivery date of 2/16. Went to "preparing for Shipment" on 2/1 with a scheduled delivery date of 2/14. "Shipped" today 2/2 with a delivery date from FedEx of 2/6. I assume the delivery would have been sooner if 2/4 and 2/5 were not a weekend. I am SO excited!

Thanks iStockNow, but I went to Staples before ordering from Apple - Staples.ca say they have 1 in stock, but they don't. The guy there said that just means they carry the product.
