iStocknow.com is an amazing site. I setup alerts on Wednesday and got a couple alerts for availability for local pickup at a couple of our nearby Apple stores and I was able to go home with a pair on a Thursday. :)

I'm really digging the case and airpods themselves. More than I thought I would. They are also much lighter than I thought they would be too. Does anyone here have experience flying with them? I do own Bose noise cancelling earbuds so I'm set there but I'm kinda curious if they are usable/able to get loud enough for decent hearing on the plane with them being pretty open to background noise from what I've noticed.

I flew with them at Christmas...couldn't get volume high enough to hear well over airplane noise. Could hear, but not great. I'll use my Studio Wireless when I want better quality and noise cancellation, but the AirPods are what I use daily now.

Anyone else have this issue? I would want them primarily for flights and the noise would be an issue.

OK guys. I've ordered these with a 6 week wait. They're due middle of May. My question is, is do they stay in your ears better than the EarPods? The EarPods were always a 'OK fit, then they fall out" kind of fit. Are the AirPods better at staying in your ears?

Thank you for this - I was able to order some from ATT (they have them right now) and cancelled my Apple order - I will end up getting them one week earlier :). I hope in time for my birthday this week.

Cheers,
B

They were shipped - I didn't choose expedited but I figure even with USPS I should have them by the end of the week.

Because they're not in ear they don't really block out noise at all. I ride the bus and subway with them and can hear almost everything whereas with in ears or even an on ear headphone (like the Beats Solo 3s) sound is muffled or blocked entirely.

I love my AirPods but blocking out sound is not one of their strengths. I try not to raise the volume to cancel out the noise either as I don't want tinnitus.

Managed to order a pair from AT&T and they arrived yesterday. So far, I'm very impressed. I was concerned about others' complaints about comfort. I wore them most of the day yesterday and all day today and find them extremely comfortable - I actually find them more comfortable than my Jaybird X2 with Comply tips. The lack of a cable makes them extremely light way and they sort of just sit in my ears without any rubbing or pressure so I am less aware of them.

Also sound quality was much better than I expected. Phone quality is way better than the Jaybird and music quality seems to be just as good. Bluetooth connection reliability seems to be much better as well.

The only thing lacking is noise cancellation, but I have a pair of Bose QC 20's that I use mostly on airplanes.
Overall, very happy with the Airpods.

I ordered 1pm on Monday.
Received my AirPods today from USPS.

I ordered Monday morning and USPS delivered them yesterday morning. I must say the sound quality is much better than I was expecting. My main purpose was to use on conference calls. They work well for that but I was really blown away at the sound quality for music. Compared to my B&W headphones they don't so too far off from those to listen to music.

They fit my ears fine, but the EarPods also fit me well. Before ordering I wore my EarPods for two weeks while doing various things. The only times they fell out were if I caught the wire on something.
I have been wiping my AirPods down with alcohol occasionally to ensure that I have removed any oils from my skin. Seems to help, but as I said, I don't really have a problem with them staying in.

I managed to get a pair. Had the patience to try and look for another unit...

Now it's on the way, 100% confirmed. It should arrive in a week or two.

I paid less than what Apple is selling in my country, in their official site, yet I still had to pay import fees that made the whole thing expensive, but it was either that or expect months for the thing to arrive (with no idea if I would be able to fool customs and pay less), and risk buying from eBay or some online store that hasn't the same reputation than BHPhotoVideo, Best Buy, etc.

The one I use is Shipito. Shipping would cost US$ 20, 30 or even less using the Airmail option. The only downside is that it could take 2, 3 months to arrive (sometimes only 2 weeks).

I was going to order from B&H if they were not advertising what they don't have.

So I ordered mine about a week ago from Apple with a 6 week lead time. I had read somewhere and saw at one point the carriers got them and had them in stock but the post was a few weeks old. Last night I decided to check ATT and was surprised that they seemed to have them. Got the shipping confirmation a little bit ago and sitting here shaking my head. How can it be so easy to order through them and Apple has had a never ending 6 week wait, they got some work to do yet.

Figured I'd hold off on cancelling my order till I have them in my hands because it seems too good to be true but after reading this thread it seems like I should be safe to do so. Highly doubtful that Apple all the sudden knocks 4 weeks off the lead time.

i ordered through ATT as well. the carriers seem to be getting shipments on and off. you got the shipping confirmation so you are most likely good to go!
