The first night of having my AirPods 2 Pro - the case lost 10% but after that it's been solid losing nothing. For example, I lost 1% overnight and half of yesterday. It immediately got the new firmware the day I got it (last week) - despite always being in my battery widget.

I am on 5A377 and mine lost 15% overnight. Every time I check it has lost a minimum of 2% further. What is the point of being able to constantly check battery life anyway? Especially if it leads to significantly less battery life... Silly decision. Give us a switch. I never had any doubt when my Pro 1's were low

So mine dropped 4% in four days. I used them today for an hour and a half and the case recharged the pods and dropped from 73% to 63% and have remained at 63% fir the last eight hours. I can only think for you guys that are struggling with rapid discharge is that perhaps it’s worth backing up your phones and then setting up as new vanilla out of the box with no apps installed then connecting AirPods to see if you still suffer from a battery drain.

My APP2 on the newest firmware are also losing battery. Charged to 100%, dropped to 98 yesterday, came in at 93 this morning and sitting at 89 now. My original APP never did this. Maybe Find My is draining the case more?  needs to fix this as the case should not be draining this much in a 24 hrs period of non-use

Does anyone know if you can get the updated APP2 firmware (5A377) if you're running iOS 15.7? I've had my APP2's since Sunday and have not been able to get the firmware updated. Wondering if you need some version of iOS 16 to get the firmware update?
I’m on 14.8 and they will not update. I assume iOS 16 or Mac OS Ventura will be required to get the newest firmware.

I’ve experienced no overnight case drain on 14.8 with firmware 5A374. I suspect this is due to the fact I cannot add these to find my.

Tim,

I am running 16.0.2 and have 5A377 installed on the APP2 and I still have the issue. There is something else draining the case faster than the original APP case.

Just wanted to mention that I didn't touch my AirPods Pro 2 since Friday evening and I've lost 1% since then on the case. Find My working fine. (Latest firmware). Maybe they're in a deep sleep because they haven't physically moved at all. I will use them more during the week and see if the drain intensifies again when carried around/moved.

Tested moving them physically and now it’s dropped a few %. Interesting.

Charged the case twice since getting them on the 24th, down to 30% in 6 days after using them for 1hr or so a day.

If my maths is correct, 6 hour usage on the buds should give 4 full charges with the case ( hence 30 hour total)

So, after 6 hours, the case should really only drain down to 75% - i'll give a bit of leeway for standby/find my and say 65% but im getting half of that at 30%

Contacted apple support who said they're aware and it should be fixed with an update, but no eta...

Just created a new thread about the battery widget showing the AirPods and case even with the lid closed.

Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing this. If this is intended functionality it's incredibly stupid IMO.

FWIW - it's not happening when I connect my new Pros to my iPad. It leaves the iPad's battery widget almost immediately after closing the lid.

Might be worth testing if you can.

Battery life on the pods is good, but now that you say it, it seems like the case is always getting drained and I didn’t notice it so much on Gen 1. I have the battery widgets so I can constantly see device levels.

I charged the case to 💯 last night. No use. I used the pods for one hour this morning and the case is 25% down. WTF.

Update: after that 1hour of used on the Air Pods, put hem back in the case. Now the case is drained to 50%. Thats ridiculous for literally 1 hr of use on the Air Pods.

This should be a sticky.

What seemed to fix the issue for me (for now) is removing the AirPods Pro from the Find My app. This also causes them to unpair them from your phone.

After I repaired them they still showed in the battery widget but the drain is like 1% a day.

Can someone else with the issue test this to see if it solves it for them?

By fix the issue do you mean the battery drain or the AirPods staying in the battery widget even with the lid closed?

Just tried this, reset using the back button, repaired, but they're back in the find my app? Is there a way to repair them w/o turning the find my feature back on?

I left the find my on after I repaired.
-Delete them through the find my app(which also unpairs them.
-Open the case of the AirPods next to your phone and repair them.

This fixed the issue of battery drain for me.

Cool that's what I did, case is down to 83% after 24hours and 2 hours usage. Will charge it up tonight and repeat.

This seems to have worked for me too. I charged mine as soon as I opened them and after initial pairing the battery went from 100% down to 85% in the matter of just a few hours. I did the above and it’s been about 10 hours and sitting at 84%.
