I have never been able to get apple earphones to fit properly. I read the forums including the ones about memory foam. I didn't want to spend more money, so instead I modified some of the hacks I read. Now, not only do my AirPods pros fit snuggly and comfortably, but noise cancellation works great! With the poor fit of the stock silicone buds I wasn't able to notice ANY noise cancellation. In fact, I thought the AirPods were defective, based upon the reviews that spoke of how GREAT the noise cancellation feature was.
My modification was to use the yellow foam earplugs that many gyms give out for free. I think they cost about 25 cents each. The procedure is as follows:
1. Cut a 3mm piece off of the foam earplug
2. Punch out a small circle in the middle, about 2-3mm. If you can't find a punch, just use a hobby knife or scalpel, it doesn't need to be perfect. I added a slight bevel to the cut, to better fit around the tube
3. Remove about 15 or 20 degrees from your donut with two sharp cuts
4. Fold the small stock silicone earpieces up, to expose the actual tube that transmits the sound
5. Place the donut around the tube near the top
6. Fold the silicone down over the yellow foam
The first one took about 30 minutes to figure things out, the second one took about 5 minutes. So easy! The small foam is essentially invisible and does not interfere with putting the AirPods in their case, whatsoever. I included 2 pics of my first attempt, which was too wide and didn't fit. You really don't need much foam to make it work. You can do this!
So far seem very durable.
