I can’t find my receipt and I am getting the rattling plus the weird noise when noise cancelling is on. Is it like taking a Mac back where your serial number tells them everything or do I need to find the receipt ?
I don’t think I’ve ever needed to show a receipt to Apple, your warranty will be noted alongside your serial number. Check it on the Apple warranty checker website, if it’s on there then cannot see you having a issue.

I bought some in the U.K. this week and they are also D9 from 08/2020, serial number ends LKKT. I was contemplating sending them back and trying to source a set from October 2020 onwards but I think I’ll keep hold of them. If I experience any issues it looks likely Apple will replace them for the updated version, I’ll buy AppleCare+ to give me 2 years of cover with accidental damage included.
I believe you're looking at the case serial number, not the buds themselves. You can cycle through the serial numbers from case, to right bud, to left - give that a try and you'll see the numbers for each bud.

AirPods Pro have not been in production for 2 years, so every pair made prior to October 2020 would qualify for the free replacement, but if you bought them from Apple, they'll be able to find your purchase information by the serial number.

Hi all,
I have done an interesting experiment with the APP while it was crackling and rattling away. I opened my old 1st gen Airpods and allowed to share audio. Left the old airpods on the table and used the APP until the battery was low. It never failed or had any problems. I have reproduced this for 4 days now.
it still fails on its own but works great when sharing.
Has anyone tried that? Please let me know.

(I am in my 3rd replacement, all with the same issues)

Can anyone confirm if the replacement AirPods that were manufactured after October solves the issue with ANC sound leakage and the Ear Fit test not working?
My AirPod Pros were replaced by Apple roughly 3 months ago, at the local Apple Store. It was done without any hesitation or difficulty.

I have not noticed the crackling since that time.

Thanks for the info. I had a look and definitely the older original version, JQH3 and JQH4. Not a issue though as for now they are working perfectly and I have 2 years of warranty cover to protect my purchase.

FFS…

I thought mine were broken, and sending them back through the company where I bought them would cost me about 85 USD if it was found that I was at fault. (I didn't pay the extra AppleCare-tax.) And then I on top of that 85 USD would have to pay to have the "broken" one replaced.

Now I don't know what to do. Just wait for my AirPods Max, and keep these as they are; or dare risk paying that extra fee, or just go straight to buying a replacement.

Why not just go through Apple support? You don't need to be in warranty as it's a problem they have acknowledged.

Has anyone here successfully been able to return/get a refund from Apple (after the 14-day return period) due to the ongoing rattling issues with the AirPods Pro? I've gone through 4 replacements and still having problems. I really don't want to keep replacing them when Apple's not fixing the problem.

My AirPods Pro were replaced (twice) and are now satisfactory. My experience is that they have fixed the problem, at least to my own satisfaction. It was therefore not necessary for me to request a refund.

My AirPod Pros just started doing this in the right earbud. When I jog it sounds like a speaker popping every time I hit the cement - doesn't happen every time, but almost every time. So annoying, I can't jog with them anymore because of this. :/

How long did it take for the problem to first appear each time?

As far as I can remember, it was fairly soon. It's not something that is noticeable except under certain circumstances, at lease in my experience. My first set of AirPods Pro had the problem and I was not even thinking of returning them until I started noticing discussions here about the issue. I contacted Apple and they sent me replacements (I returned the originals). Then the second set began to do the same thing after a short time. I had an appointment at the local Apple Store to have my phone repaired, and I took my AirPods with me. When I was talking to the technician there, I mentioned it to him and he went and got a new set for me and exchanged them without much discussion. He knew exactly what I was talking about and did the exchange without an question whatsoever.

The new pair seem fine, I've had them for just over 2 months. I have not noticed any issues with them.

I had this happen to me three times and had them replaced. The last time was September 2020 amd I had them replaced and it hasn’t occurred since then thankfully.

Wow. That’s a lot of times. It’s good that Apple sorted you out each time with no real fuss. In my instance it took 7 months for symptoms to appear. My first replacement so I’m kinda waiting for 6 months to pass before thinking I’m in the all clear. This thread has slowed down substantially so that’s a good sign.

It was just twice, hopefully what I wrote earlier didn't imply more.

My left APP rattled. I went to the Apple store today and they replaced both of them without question after running diagnostics on them.

I had the left one replaced today at the Apple Store... It started out I could not get the left one to pass the fit test and it started having feedback when ever I adjusted it. About a week ago I started hearing the clicking sound when it was in noise cancelation or transparency. I did a chat with a service rep and she had me reset them. The problem did not resolve so I made an appointment today and they replaced the left one. I am glad I bought the apple care as I am a little passed a year since purchasing them. Both can now pass the fit test so I hope I have two good ones.

They would have replaced them without apple care as there is a support programme.

Just got done with a chat with Apple support to send back my left AirPods Pro. Had the right one replaced about 3 months ago. Annoying that we have to go through this, but at least (for me) it's involved fairly little effort and has been a quick turn around.
