Huh, I was toying with the idea of getting some of these for mobility... Never mind.

That’s just a fit test though. Any issues there are just due to your ears not being suited to a particular size of tips.
Not necessarily. I've had the fit test work, and once the sound quality issues happen, nothing will allow my fit test to pass.

Can someone help me with a sanity check? My AirPods Pro thump when I run. It’s annoying. Is this the rattle gate issue Or is this just normal due to the force of my foot hitting the ground?

These have already been replaced once due to the rattle gate issue, but if I’m being honest I didn’t really notice a rattle and just wanted a new battery. They failed Apple’s check and it worked out for me.

I got my first pair right before Christmas last year and Im on pair 3 ! My issues every time is a thumping no static or crackling? They take them in back test them and they fail for thumping sound?

And here we go again, I am very tired of them, its my third pair... I am agree to listen them without transparent mode but I this case it has no bass at all... don't know what to do :(

No, when the AirPods has problem they start to fail fit test, nothing you can do or change to pass it

I gave up after six or seven (I honestly lost count) replacements. It just wasn't worth the repeated letdowns. They would work fine for a few days or weeks, then fail again.

My current pair's left earbud works fine, the right one squeals like a pig.

I won't bother with the second generation, no matter how great the YouTube influencers insist they are.

I finally ran into a wall with my replacements. 3 pairs all replaced once for static/popping. Left earbud on the second replacement started popping again, and I went through the online process. Was told I’d need to pay for replacement of everything which I think was more expensive than a new pair on Amazon. I’m l’m dealing with the crackling noises, but know it will eventually turn into a loud screeching sound.

I may be up for my 4th or 5th replacement unfortunately. I got mine replaced in April, and already the left one is starting to crack and rattle again. Such a shame. Last time this happened, I took them into Apple and they tested them and replaced both of them.

Looks like even the latest revisions are just as susceptible to this as the original.

So I just got mine replaced a few weeks ago and what the **** man when I'm in ANC mode I can hear a "seashell" noise in the right one and if I talk loud enough or make a certain noise I can hear some rattling. This is getting to be bozo levels of quality. I'm already thinking of sending them out.

Not true at all. The fit test can fail for one of three reasons:
A) Poor fit
B) Microphones in airpods are faulty/failing
C) Vent grille mesh in Airpods has a blockage

If they fail due to (C), you can easily restore them by using the Blutack trick. In that case, fit test will pass again once you clean the mesh (and the bass will return). Note that the "blockage" can be totally invisible to the naked eye. The fit test is very very sensitive to ANY amount of blockage for some reason.

I have to clean mine with bluetack every 4 days or so because i have super oily ears. Its annoying, but it works.

Just had mine replaced. First impression is that the new ones sound much better? Going to give them a few days to see if anything should come up.

I noticed my local Best Buy is on the list of places to take my APP for this issue. Is that accurate? I didn't know BB did authorized service for Apple.

It popped up on my list as well, with a note to call regarding availability.

I just got back from my local Apple Store and they replaced both AirPods.

2nd Generation seems to have redesigned the inner grill which I'm assuming will resolve this issue.
Yes, it appears they put the skin sensor where the existing inner grill is and moved that grill to the top with a new design. It will be interesting to see if they really are that much better.

Wow ok this sounds great - fingers crossed it fixes it!!🤞

I'll be watching this thread closely over the next few months. I'm hoping to jump on the APP2 as soon as the usb-c case comes out next year. I just need to know that this issue is fixed for good.

What’s people’s experience with getting them replaced after 12 months? I’d like to do a final replacement before I get the APP 2s

Last time found it was much more difficult to change than the initial one, so I’m wondering if they are less willing to change them

just did a replacement in April no problem, took them in back said they failed gave me new ones

I just did the chat an hour ago to get one side replaced, and it was the same as before when I had both of them replaced. Last time around was last June, so more than a year. So the total for me now is left replaced twice, right side three times.

I humored the guy and unpaired and repaired them, he checked to see I was on current firmware and OS versions, no resistance other than that. I wouldn't wait forever though, if I'm correct their repair program for these is three years from initial purchase, so if you got them on release, that means October or November is your deadline. So I don't think you get three years from each time you got them replaced. Someone in here probably knows.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to having both sides do noise cancelling well for more than a month before crapping out. Most of my time owning these has been with not optimal noise cancelling just because I don't get around to it.
