Hello all,
I have just bought some new AirPods Pro and have had the exact same problem as anyone else. (Listening to AirPods Pro for around 2 or more hours, battery percentage at 59% then putting them in case and closing it. Open the case around 1 min after to see the pop up and the AirPods Pro have drained to around 11% but actually being at 59% because it is a visual percentage issue with the firmware). So sadly we will just have to wait for a new firmware that will hopefully fix this issue.
also have read some temporary work arounds until it is fixed.
just trying to help out :)

Hey, I've bought the AirPods Pro, and my problem is that after 2 hrs of use, both AirPods are at ~55% (as indicated on the iPhone).

When I put them into the charging case, they suddenly drop to 15%.

This is just a visual bug on the indicator that occurs if you put them into the case because they last for another two hours, but it sure is annoying given that you virtually don't know their real battery life after 50%.

The AirPods are running on the latest Firmware, and so is my iPhone (13.3).

I tried the following to get rid of the bug but to no avail:
  • Disconnect / Reconnect the AirPods;
  • Completely drain both the AirPods and the Case;
  • Connect them to a different iPhone that has been reset to factory settings.
Anyone here with the same issue?

yes i am facing the exact same issue !!!!

did you find the solution?????

Hello Meet Lakhani,

Same issue here. It is a read issue only, the APPs are not suddenly being drained of half their charge. (Verifiable by keeping case Open during charge. Check status in widget.)

Hoping with the others for a Firmware fix. Enjoy your set!

Best,
KM

Hello! I had my APP for a week. I saw this post on twitter. I just noticed that it's also happening to me. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm wondering if it's still under the read only issue. It doesn't happen every time tho. Thank you!

Don’t worry about it.

& for the love of god, don’t return them because of it.

Had my case replaced a month ago and just had the whole lot replaced and no change. Beginning to think it could be a hardware issue as it should’ve been fixed by now. They still function fine but if you want to give the pods a quick top up it messes with the readings until they are basically fully charged. It has taken away the convenience factor of AirPods slightly for me.

Hi,

I started my call when my battery was at 100%, after a call of one and a half hour airpods battery reached 55%. I put them into the case for charging. And opened the case after 2 minutes, suddenly charge was at 17%. Some software bug or a hardware issue? Attached images.

Think it’s a software issue where if you close the case it reads the battery percentage wrong and that’s why it’s goes down so low when the battery is actually still at what it was before putting in case.

This was my experience and solution!

I purchased my Airpod Pros in March 2020. Numerous times I would use them, put them in the case while they were around 50% charged, and then take them out in the morning and find they each had 0% charge, yet the case would have plenty of charge or maybe the case was even fully charged.

I did resets, updated my iOS to the most current, made certain I had the newest Airpod firmware, etc. I was out of options.

I contacted Apple Support and told them this story. They agreed to send me a new charging case. I swapped out the charging case about 3-4 weeks ago, and as of today they now still work as they are supposed to work.

I recommend you contact Apple Support and see if they will agree to swap out your charging case. At least that is what worked for me.

Yep. Lots of problems. I’m fairly sure there is a problem with the software / battery reporting rather than the batteries themselves. Keep going to Apple Support and perhaps they’ll stop saying “no one has ever reported this before” like they do to me.....

There is no real solution.

Read my posts above. It’s a software glitch. Take out one of the AirPods from the case & refer to the higher AirPod percentage for the accurate level.

I agree. Actual performance doesn’t seem to be affected. Mine dropped from around 50% to 8% and then lasted nearly 4 hours with the battery reading 8% until they ran out completely

I bought my new APP and I observed the same problem as mentioned above in the thread, a sudden battery drop after placing the AirPods in their charging case. does anyone know weather it will effect the case battery because the case is charging the AirPods everytime from 15% to 100%, hopefully it doesn't degrade the case battery in the longer run before they fix this issue

It's not charging them from 15% to 100%. the 15% is a false reading.

I think ill go back to AirPods 2 gen. This bug gets me annoying :/
