My 15 Pro on 17.0.3 rebooted over last night too. Haven’t checked the charging graph so no idea how long it was down or if it just immediately restarted.

I had this issue last year with a brand new 14 Pro. It happened 3 or 4 times, and then Apple replaced the phone for me and I’ve never had it since. If this is on a new phone I would call Apple support and get it replaced. Not sure why some older phones are now seeing this too.

No reboots on 15 PM, but my 13 PM did have this happen a few days ago, random gap in the battery chart during the early hours of the morning.

Mine also rebooted last night… strange. iPhone 15 Pro on latest update.

my iPhone 15 Pro max on 17.0.3 rebooted last night as well... it was plugged in at the time and I wondered why I heard the charging tone.. weird

My XS max rebooted overnight. I am on 17.0.0 and set to download only for updates. I was on the public beta and I have a developer account.

Hmm, very interesting. My iPhone 15 pro on 17.0.3 rebooted last night as well.

I noticed because Face ID didn’t work, I had no WiFi signal and I had to put in a passcode. Checked battery stats and saw most hours of the night were missing. I don’t think it was off when there’s no battery graph, it just doesn’t register anything when you’re not logged in. You also don’t have WiFi or caller ID if you just restarted before you enter a passcode. So it must have been a restart.

It’s either something serverside or a general (time?)bug that caused it, since more people have had this happen.

This did not happen on my iPad Pro and 12 mini on the same iOS version by the way.

Would be cool if we can find out more!

I have had this happen quite a bit with my 14 pro max on iOS 16 and on the 17 betas I would wake up and would need to enter password instead of face id

So far I see a pattern:
Everyone who posted a battery graph with a gap is on iOS 17.0.x and has charging optimization on.

My wife’s iPhone XS Max did not reboot and has charging optimization on and is on 17.0.x.

Mine did not reboot at all!! Am I missing out on something? Or just go on with life?

It was plugged in and charge optimized.

Yeah I have optimized charging on as well… and it‘s not working!

So my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.0.3 spontaneously rebooted last night (10. October around 01:00 AM CET). The same happened to 3 of my friends with the same iPhone and same iOS, and to someone else with an iPhone 13 Mini, also on the same iOS.

I can't find anything in the crash logs. Anyone else?
1AM? I don't know. I was rebooting myself at that time ;)

9to5 & Redmondpie have also noted the phenomenon happening to many users with the 15(PM) on iOS 17.0.3.
They’re saying they still have no clue as to why this happened? Maybe Apple pushing a silent patch on a firmware level with letting its users know? Software bug of some sort?
Time will tell what really happened, if the truth is ever told and or discovered.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max didn’t restart. The battery graph shows nothing weird. My iPhone was not plugged in. We’re all iPhones plugged in when this occurred? I have optimized battery charging on.

Not sure if my iPhone didn’t use Face ID or if I had no WiFi. Wasn’t paying attention.
