To your #1, with the iPhone 12/Pro, why would theoretically include a power adapter when you sell it now that it is not included? Also, are you telling me that you have never bought alternative ways to charge your phone until now?

Why should I leave the buyer or second hand user of my iPhone 11 high and dry? If I sell or give away my iPhone 11, I include everything that came with it. You'll notice virtually all Craigstlist sellers show the complete box of the iPhone they're selling.

To your #2, you only have the lightning cables that are included with the iPhone and you literally travel everywhere with that one cable and sell that one cable with the device when you sell or hand it down? I know from previous experience with using ligthning cables since my iPhone 5, I've had cables in my cars until I switched to a Qi Mount/charger in my car. I've also had cables at both work and at home. I can plug my phone in by my couch if I need to, I have a Qi charger by the bed and also have a lightning cable there to charge my iPad.

Given the iPhone has such great battery life, I don't often need to charge it out of the house.

That’s you. I don’t have family so who would I hand it down to? I have 3 usb type c bricks and more type a bricks. If you can afford a modern high end phone you can afford a brick. The people who literally don’t have a choice of charging their phone is probably in the minority.

If it saves time and money I would say just sell iPhone there's no need to include any accessory. Save on packaging too, just sell it in a bubble wrap and I will gladly take it. Most important thing is the product itself. There are so many cheap accessories available on Amazon & eBay even if i need to resell my phone i can buy from there and package them together. Now is not the time to make people wait since there is so much competition out there and they are getting better each year. Apple please take my iPhone mini order tonight & ship it tomorrow! 😆

I use the standard charging brick but I buy braided 6 foot aftermarket cords. I only use the cord that came with it as a spare and to plug it into my computer.

I rarely ever plug mine in anymore since getting wireless charging. The cable and adapter are non-issues in my book.
I would do this, but I consistently sync my iPhone, so a port/cable is a must, it's why I hope Apple doesn't switch to a portless iPhone yet, at least until after they make a 1TB Pro Max. I imagine those 3rd party apps like VLC will now be useless, unless you could wirelessly transfer movies/tv shows to it, or documents to a documents app.

Apple only provided the fast charger for one year, only ppl who have those are the ppl who purchase the iPhone 11 Pro. Older iPhone users have to purchase the new brick or use their old 5w brick and cable.
What about everyone that bought a 2018+ iPad Pro or 2016+ MacBook Pro... All of them came with USB-C chargers. Those plus the 11 Pro, I got (4) 20W+ USB-C chargers and 9:10 it’s the 60W I’m using. If your IN the ecosystem you’ve got the chargers you need or wireless pads already. If not:
I just can’t believe the complaining about it. You’re buying a 500-1000 phone. If you have a charger, cool. If not, buy one.

THIS! anyone that has money to blow on a brand new iPhone, should have the dough for needed accessories. I’m not going to buy a sports car and complain about its gas mileage o_O

Read countless posts on here and Reddit from people defending Apple's potential move of not including the power adapter with the 2020 iPhones because they had plenty of them lying around at home already. And yet not a word from anyone now that we know the new iPhones will ship with a USB-C Lightning cable that is incompatible with all previously included iPhone power adapters (except iPhone 11 Pro and Max).
With their logic, then they should demand Apple to not include chargers with all MacBooks either. I mean they should have plenty lying around.

VLC on iOS can act as a web server, and you can upload videos to it via WiFi through a web browser.

Sure the move is smart and well-calculated with tangible benefits. What's not to defend? Or is it only okay to blindly criticize?

The move is smart for Apple. Not the consumer. Chargers and EarPods removed but price of phone went up. I’m all for saving the environment too but don’t pretend you’re only doing it for that while raising the cost of entry.

Also where are the threads on this forum, before actual rumors came out, complaining that apple should remove these chargers? Like I said, people love to defend Apple even if they don’t own Apple stocks and willingly defend paying more for less.

So what you’re saying it “most” people only have one brick and one cable laying around ?
I have more than one, but these are mostly bricks I already own or from phones I decided not to sell / give away. I mostly use them to keep chargers in multiple rooms of the house, one at work, and one for travel.

But if something goes wrong with your phone, Apple will certainly deny accountability if you use 3rd party chargers/cables. How convenient for them.

Maybe next time Apple shouldn't even ship a phone. You'll just pay them for the thought of buying a ne wlhone, and for the sake of the environment, you should continue using your old phone.

Hahaha pay them for the thought of buying a new one or maybe I should tell them just send me the iPhone's picture in a frame and I hang it on the wall. Tbh whenever I went to Apple for repair they never asked me about the third party chargers or cables. They simply fix the issue if they find one. I had use my old phone but I like the new 5.4 inch size. Lol the accessories in the picture and these are not all.

The price of what phone. The range of prices is still $699 to $1099. The iphone mini has more tech then the iphone 11 at the same price.

I don't think Apple is "pretending."

The iphone 12 has tech the iphone 11 could only dream off. One is not paying more for less. Of course, we can nuance this to death, but Apple held the line on the prices and is not "pretending" to save the environment. Less e-waste, less packaging, less fossil fuels resulting from smaller packaging and less emissions, etc.

IPhone mini has a 5.4 inch screen down from the 6.1 inch screen in iPhone 11. iPhone mini has 2 hours less battery life on video playback that surely translates to less battery life for daily use compared to the iPhone 11. It’s even worse on audio playback with 15 hours less compared to the 11. iPhone mini price is where the iPhone 11 price used to be. I would agree with you if the successor to the iPhone 11 came in at the same price but with better everything. iPhone 12 starts at a higher price than the 11 while also removing charger and EarPods. I can’t recall exactly but I don’t remember price increases when iPhones moved to LTE compared to 3g. I don’t recall a price increase when retina was introduced. iPhone 12 is the yearly update to the 11 for an extra $100 with what feels like the usual yearly progress.

Arguably you’re paying more for the yearly update this time around. It can be nuanced but I would not call this holding the line when the line itself has shifted right in front of our eyes. Holding the line would be prices the same (or lower) while apple removed the charger and EarPods. Then changing the prices the year after with the next update.

It’s about profit not the environment. They just say that so people will go along with it. Some people are willing to pay more if they think it “helps.”
In reality now someone is going to have to take one off of the shelf and buy it. That one is wrapped in packaging and had to be shipped. Not everyone wants or knows about or cares about aftermarket chargers.

The cost of the phone also went up as well. 5G, all OLED, and the new expensive ion glass process have likely all increased the cost of the phones over the previous models. People keep overlooking this. Apple more than likely made a decision to remove the cost of the bricks to account for price increase of the features. Samsung just increased the price of their 5G phones outright.

I already have a 3rd party 90W charging brick anyway, so not getting another one with the phone actually makes sense regarding unnecessary waste and not having another one collecting dust in the drawer. I do realise that not everyone has a USB C brick, though, and of course profit is the main focus here.

For travel, I never take an Apple charger anyway. Only one port. Hotels are starting to get USB charging ports in rooms (just in time for USB-C, such dinosaurs), but before they did, there was typically only one usable outlet and everybody's got to charge their phones, not to mention tablets and laptops.

People I know who have done trade-ins at the Apple Store say Apple never wants cords or chargers, and will only accept them "for recycling" if they don't work anymore.

This may serve to annoy a few of you but you don’t want to fast charge your phone anyway. I bought my 11PM in October 2019. All I used was the 5w charger. A year later my battery capacity is still 100%. People who do want to use apples 20 watt charging adapter will already have one For free from buying one of the pros last year. Hehehehehehe

HERE’S MINE :)

After thinking about it, for those claiming to have boatload of these unused in their drawers, this is a business opportunity. You can sell each of the accessories for $10 each, undercutting Apple. Of you can bundle them for $20.

That kind of logic works the other way around, and with additional history to support it it works even better -- if Apple has been including all these accessories all along for the price of the iPhone for so many years then what is it to them to still do that (or, alternatively not have the consumer eat up the cost if they decided not to do it)?
