Display analyst Ross Young recently reported that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will see an increase in their display sizes compared to previous generations, growing to almost 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively.

An alleged CAD model of the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max (which could possibly be branded as iPhone 16 Ultra) was recently shared with 9to5Mac by Sonny Dickson and used to create renderings showing how much bigger Apple's largest iPhone model could be for the 2024 lineup.

According to the CAD model, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will apparently grow more significantly in the vertical dimension than in the horizontal dimension, compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The overall iPhone 16 Pro Max device height would increase by approximately 5 mm to ~165.0 mm while the width would only increase by about 0.5 mm to ~77.2 mm.

It's still very early in the rumor cycle for the iPhone 16 lineup as we're well over a year away from launch, so the accuracy of the leaked CAD model remains uncertain. We'll undoubtedly hear much more in the coming months, so we'll see if future information lines up with this early claim.

Wow!

See everyone, do you want this poor man to have to use a tiny phone? Here’s the deal, everyone who wants a tiny phone can arm wrestle this guy, and if you win, Apple won’t make phones with screens larger than 2 inches. If you lose, we get the large phones we have dreamed of and need.

I don't know why people are surprised.

When the iPhone Mini was a thing... people had the choice between small, medium, and large.

And people overwhelmingly chose medium and large.

People like big phones. That's the market now. Big phones are in. Small is out. And it's been like that for a while...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agreed, when I’m out in public sometimes I notice everyone using a large phone, even small people, from kids to little old ladies, big phones are in.

Hopefully the base model isn't doing this? I also hope it doesn't trickle down further down the line. I just went back from a Max to a regular Pro and it does feel so much better to my hands, easier to get at everything without feeling like it's going to drop.

One of the things I like about iPhones is the aspect ratio isn’t too tall. Samsung takes this to an extreme (or at least they used to, haven't paid attention to Galaxy phones in a while). I would have much preferred a 6.9" iPhone at the same aspect ratio as the current iPhone.

Oh well. I guess this was their solution for the dynamic island taking up too much vertical space.

Samsung uses the same aspect ratio as apple now (19.5:9)

But apple is gonna make it taller with the 16 pro (most likely 20:9)

Funny how tables turn eh?
