if the screen had to get bigger, I was honestly hoping for a wider phone with the same height. The phones are already comically tall and it makes landscape of minimal use when that used to be a huge selling point of the iPhone.
That’s something I hated on smaller iPhones. Tall iPhones are worthless if the screen width interferes with the user experience.

I tend to skip generations, but before I switched to the 11ProMax, I would hate using the 7 in portrait orientation. The side bezels would take up potential screen space, making the screen content look smooshed.

So what does this taller aspect ratio indicate? Why go this route? Something new with the UI coming I wonder? Or maybe they just want more internal space for cams/battery without going too wide.

Now we will get even sillier taller vertical videos that look as if they been taken through a partially open door. When will it stop? I like larger screens but not just taller. Hence “foldables”. (Sorry I don’t think that is a word but you know what I mean). I know I will not willingly partake of this ‘taller’ phone but they will probably add some unique feature that is only available on this new phone thus trying to cajole you into buying it. USB C and 50% lighter is what I would like, but it looks as if this is beyond Apple’s capabilities. It is the way.

Just wait, until it comes out. Then you will see, my young padavan. IPad mini has more with. so it will have more or less the same height...

It could get closer in height... but it's the width that separates phone-sized devices and tablet-sized devices.

And that's the point I was making.

People just look at the diagonal measurement in inches and say "omg phones are getting as big as tablets!"

But they're not... since tablets have a different aspect ratio.

:p

Man... this is about screen size of early home computers. 😄

Is it ever going to stop? At what point do they stop making these things bigger and heavier?
You know - once upon a time there was a guy called Ivy and this was the time of thinner, Thinner, THINNEER!!! Now times have changed and we're all caged in the bigger, Bigger, BIGGER!!! universe.
