The video is about the base 14 inch MacBook Pro and that is what I was referring to, not the discontinued 13 inch.
Yeah, but the point is the base 14" MacBook Pro M3 non-Pro is a different kettle of fish than the 14" MacBook Pro M2 Pro.

  • An extra Thunderbolt 4 port
That's a pleasant surprise. I cannot remember if I have seen this rumour.
An extra Thunderbolt port was expected, since the M4 SoC has 4 built-in Thunderbolt controllers. M3 has 2.

Even better though is that it's Thunderbolt 4, not Thunderbolt 3.

I have a base configuration M3 Macbook Pro and generally very satisfied with it. I would like to see a newer lighter design to consider an upgrade.

I agree, and it's a nice upgrade from the MacBook Pro M2 non-Pro. The post I was replying to was suggesting that the MacBook Pro M3 was a downgrade, but that doesn't make much sense, because it doesn't replace the MacBook Pro M2 Pro. It replaces the MacBook Pro M2 non-Pro.

Apples margins are insane! There is no reason to think they can’t cut the price 20% and still make more than any other OEM. It’s sickening.

Further penetration into the PC market is only hampered by their own arrogance and greed.

I have yet to be impressed by the M4. I really hope Apple has something big in store for the M5.

If you have an M1 Mac, maybe you can justify upgrading, but even that is still fine for another year. Anything newer, wait for the N2 or N3X.

Not good enough. Lunar Lake is only $60 to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB RAM and includes 1TB SSD. Intel is going to eat Apple's lunch.

Apple Mac has always been more expensive than similar spec PC. Its only because M1 made the value so much better because the whole system is faster. LunarLake is sort of back to the original.

I wonder if their Baseline Mac will be $1499. $200 more expensive with 512GB only.

I know him. It is one of the biggest Russian Tech bloggers (other one is Rozetked). They often get their hands on something unreleased and previously had major leaks. For example, they leaked Pixel 3 XL 2 months before release.
So I think this is the valid video.

This guy unboxes stuff like my Dad. Just mangles and crumples everything like a mad barbarian.
It’s like their channel feature. He also throws away phone after review before picking the next model in lineup from the table. And devices (usually) are not being passed to him, but being thrown to him instead from out of the frame.

That’s what I’m waiting for, although this should be a solid upgrade from an M1. My M1 MBP is blazing along quickly still and should for years so I might get another 3 or so years out of the computer before upgrading.
MacBook Pros last forever, so my M1 is running strong and I don't see a reason to upgrade. Still on 12.7.6 as well, but will probably upgrade after my current project is over.

Who's using the box art to determine the MacBook generation?

MacBook Air M2/M3 use the exact same box art with no change at all. The box doesn't even show a wallpaper.

So gone are the days when you could quickly date the product by looking at the box. I liked when they actually put a screenshot of the desktop on the box, but I guess that made more sense when the skeuomorphic UI was actually pretty to look at in print…

Anyone else wondering when apple will offer a nice sleeve for their Mac books?

Oh wait they canceled leather to make the grettas of the world happy.

No apple sleeves, enjoy!
Check out “Comfyable” on Amazon. They are not real leather, but they are insanely good. I had one for MacBook, one for iPad and one for Kindle Scribe.
