China does not have sanctions on Russia they can do as they please.
This unit is for US market. It should have never left the manufacturing plant warehouse in the first place, let alone travel from China to Russia to go directly not to some random guy, but a Russian youtuber. It is absolutely embarrassing. Apple staff is probably already on the grounds in China making full inventory of all manufactured units to understand how this got leaked. Heads will be rolling down.

Doubt it. It is when Russian youtubers like him get paid bapkas. He should save his money for Sauerkraut and electricity, than American technology.
Thats unfortunately wishful thinking. They are feeling better than before 2022. All thanks to completely failed sanction policy.

Russians even get their hands on latest iPhones. They managed to invent scheme to import them thru Kazakhstan. Yeah, slightly pricier than before, but they still buy them. And iPhones still activate in Russia, no bans or issues with it from Apple’s side

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the M5 is shaping up to be the ideal upgrade from my M1.

Edit: not sure why the laughing like I said something ridiculous. 🤔
Nope. I have the base MBP M1 Pro, and it still does a fantastic job for everyday use. Maybe the battery could be better after that time — although it works for ~8 hours. Of course, I understand that there are tasks where cutting off a few seconds per minute is crucial, but I'm not that case. That's why the M5 is the minimum, and who knows, perhaps the M6.

On the beginning of the video he says: prepare yourself some snacks, something to eat and something to drink and we will unpack this. 😉

I always wonder, mid to long term is how much exactly? 20,30,50,70 years from now? How many generations of Ukrainians will die?

Another fact people do not realize is that it is not just Russia playing the game. China is really behind them and basically solves every possible sanctions issue for them. Maybe (again, maybe) if China, India, Iran all get same sanction pack as Russia, maybe then their future will actually deteriorate in just half a year and putin will think again if it was worthy to attack neighbor.

Sanctions proved to be useless and just a PR tool not to give Ukraine what they need to finish off putin’s regime
They can get certain things through china considering china manufactures a lot of it anyway but things like computer chips that come from South Korea and Taiwan are a big problem for them. They can’t make new modern weapons which is why they are pulling from a lot of old stock and using low grade things from Iran and North Korea

Products get propositioned by UPS weeks in advance before launch. When Apple announces a new product, makes it available for order later that week, some retailers already have stock, under embargo of course.

This avoids individual customers having to fight for the same air freight capacity as retailers.

No TB5? was hoping for it in M4 Pro/Max as it would support 120 Hz 5k displays, which would pave way for upgraded Studio Display

Not good enough. Lunar Lake is only $60 to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB RAM and includes 1TB SSD. Intel is going to eat Apple's lunch.

Intel has finally (after 4 years) caught up with battery life but the rest is exactly how it's always been: Apple's upgrades are for people who reeeeally need a Mac and also need more RAM or space. Apple knows they're professionals and charges professional prices.
PCs have "internal" competition and can't do the same. Also, Apple making its own chips means there's less money they have to share. Apple sells less but makes more money per unit.
What's exactly gonna change for Intel?

wow M4 is faster than M3? /s

and it's about time Apple increase base RAM. we'll see if they keep prices the same

My M3 Air has managed everything I've asked of it. M4 would be nice but M5 or M6 will be even better :D

So in one generation a laptop chip receives 25% singe cor perf gain with a very similar TDP envelope and battery life, same price and double the ram (sure this was overdue, but have you seen the Lunar Lake vs 8GB M3 test? - they are identical in performance 32GB v 8GB RAM)?

THIS is the generation to upgrade if you're on M1 or earlier and do more tasks other than web browsing light office work.

Just out of curiosity, why M5 or M6 will be better? Will it allow to enter characters in MS Word faster than before? Maybe it will have faster decoding and you will be able to watch 1h 30m movie in 45 minutes? Maybe it will play all games at 200x speed (you will not need to wait until you'll be killed, game over right from start, you are brilliant!) Honestly, I remember MS Word in MS-DOS and can't see any real advantages (except slowness of modern apps, of course).

16 GB base RAM will mean a price hike.

Don’t care about 2 or 4 TB ports, I just wish 2 ports on any MB meant one on either side.

I'm hoping there is the option for more than an 8tb internal SSD. Crazy expensive no doubt.

Why would you possibly want more than 8TB in a laptop? Especially at the obscene Apple prices.

I have a lot of media (probably more than 8TB), but there aren't any use cases where I need to access it only from the internal SSD in the same work session. The only time I ever wish I had more than 1TB internal SSD is when I'm travelling for an extended period, and don't want to carry a couple of extra external SSDs with me. At home, it's just connected to a 20TB NAS system.

At single-core, Lunar Lake is closest to the M2, not M3. At multi-core, yeah, it gets closer to the M3. But that comes with the asterisk of higher power draw.
