I'm guessing a price increase, but not a $200 price increase. But I could be wrong, as it's just a guess.
Every upgrade is $200.

Where is the tandem OLED? It's funny that iPad Pro (which will be used 99% as content consumption device) has a much better display than a MBP which mainly used as a creative device.
It would likely require a design update, for which there is little incentive as a low-volume product. Might come with the M5 lineup if the current design lasts 4 generations.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the M5 is shaping up to be the ideal upgrade from my M1.
I've got a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Pro, 16 GB and 1 TB (BTO). At this point I still haven't had a single reason to upgrade. It still has blazing fast real world performance with everything I throw at it. And I think performance actually got a bit better with macOS Sequoia. It's been rock solid and so far I haven't had a single full-system crash. So yeah maybe next year if there's a redesign that makes it worthwhile?

This unit is for US market. It should have never left the manufacturing plant warehouse in the first place, let alone travel from China to Russia to go directly not to some random guy, but a Russian youtuber. It is absolutely embarrassing. Apple staff is probably already on the grounds in China making full inventory of all manufactured units to understand how this got leaked. Heads will be rolling down.
You don’t need to do a full inventory to understand how this got leaked.

As a shareholder, I care about earnings per share, not margins. There's an optimal margin somewhere, which would generate the highest EPS. And hardware sales are not isolated, higher volume will lead to higher services revenues, which are important, even according to Tim.
Think they have good ways to calculate what pricey upgrade will make them lose customers and what will just bring in good money, like $400 for a couple chips that cost them 20 bucks.

Not good enough. Lunar Lake is only $60 to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB RAM and includes 1TB SSD. Intel is going to eat Apple's lunch.

I don't think Lunar Lake has anything to do with the RAM pricing. I wish some of the PC makers would make something that could compete with the overall package of a MBP because maybe then Apple would be forced to lower their outrageous RAM pricing. The Surface line might be the best attempt, but it still falls short.

Funny guy. Fumed for like 2 minutes over the paper envelope containing two flimsy plasticy sheets of something (very green!) and - the horror! - no Apple stickers. Turn on geolocation services? Noooooooooooo, thanks :)

And I do agree the colour-matched cable stuck into the generic white power adaptor is very un-apple-like.

So, again, all we get is one more Thunderbolt port for the base MacBook Pro and X% faster this and Y% faster that.

Don't fix it if it ain't broken I guess...

The trouble is it’s impossible for them to do so because they don’t have access to macOS.

Thats unfortunately wishful thinking. They are feeling better than before 2022. All thanks to completely failed sanction policy.

Russians even get their hands on latest iPhones. They managed to invent scheme to import them thru Kazakhstan. Yeah, slightly pricier than before, but they still buy them. And iPhones still activate in Russia, no bans or issues with it from Apple’s side
Actually, cheaper. 15 Pro Max 1Tb sim + e-sim for ~₽135,000 - 140,000 currently, which is $1470 if paid in cash. Before, It was the US$ retail price + the Russian VAT at 20% more or less. No Apple Russia distributor markup + no official dealer markup = cheaper than the US (and that's even before you consider the US sales tax).

I could make a video like this. Seems very fake to me, but he'll get loads of clicks and views and so will generate a healthy income from the video. Which is all they care about. And sites like this then promote it even further.
Do your homework. Youtube canceled all payments to Russian YouTubers. Like, a couple years ago.

PS When are you releasing your video? Do a MacBook Pro with M4 Pro, there's still time.

Unless something goes horribly wrong, I’m in for one. It’s time to abandon my i9. I hope the 1TB upgrade isn’t too crazy.
