That'd be great – apart from the huge margin Apple will add for the metal case and the 'MPX' logo. I'd happily buy one (or two) if they weren't so hugely overpriced compared to the base GPU.If the drivers are in 11.4 I would imagine the MPX module is not far behind. Why would Apple bother writing drivers only to support hackintosh's and 3rd party gpu in external enclosures and Mac Pros.
It seems to me Apple always do things when they have a product to show for it, so if the software for a 6800/6900 gpu is getting ready some hardware has to be pushing its development.
End of this year seems quite pessimistic, I'd guess (and hope) more around June/July near WWDC.
I can buy a 6900XT now but I would much rather have a MPX module to replace my 580X...
I used the bootcamp drivers too, try to switch between blue and red to see if one works better, got 2 MPX Modules working with the 6900xt internally. I can adjust settings for the 6900xt but not the MPX modules of course. Was able to get the 6900XT up and running on bootcamp with Bootcampdrivers. I can't seem to enable every card at the same time without the system freaking out. Not sure if anyone has a solution to get them all working together?
The 6900XT also works through eGPU (how I intend to use with the Mac Pro).

Thank you. I reinstalled the drivers again and now everything works in harmony. Ended up leaving the 6900xt, w5700x, and Radeon Vega Pro II Duo internally and having my OWC nvme in the egpu. The airflow through the Mac Pro is top notch.I used the bootcamp drivers too, try to switch between blue and red to see if one works better, got 2 MPX Modules working with the 6900xt internally. Glad you liked it! I am very glad I did, I've seen those 24 cores light up to max on more than one occasion, especially with raw and pro res footage. And super stableThank you. Also appreciate you making that upgrade video @rondocap . Might try to upgrade the CPU myself next
The reference cards are getting harder to find, and as far as I can tell they are the only ones coming with the USB-C port. This damn miner caused shortage is terrible? I want an RX6800XT. I set a goal not to spend more than $1500. for the card. I need the USB-C output. I've been shopping for a couple weeks now, and finally settled on a new RX6800 Vanilla card I found new on eBay. Approximately $250 to $300 less than the XT. It's a reference model. Should have it Tuesday.
I don’t reckon this card would have fit at 324mm.Aorus RX6800XT Master Type C
I’ll try and take the case off today and measure it for you, but my initial 6800 XT was a decent amount too long.^^^^I read your earlier post and it was my impression that anything less than 330mm would fit. Thanks for the clarification.
But, as I posted I needed the USB-C because I'm using the Apple LG display with a TB only port.

Usb C cable from back of the LG 5k tb3 port to the 6900xt usb c. Tb3 cable did not work, but the monitor supplied usb c cable works in both os^^^^WOW - I wish I had seen those prices?
Are you using a USB-C cable or a TB cable?

If the Mac has really really really good airflow you could try to go with a fanless radiator. Otherwise water-cooling blocks are card length and allow tighter installs.I don’t reckon this card would have fit at 324mm.
I bought a 330mm 6800 XT without thinking and it was easily over 10mm too long.
I ended up (“ended up”) with a standard Gigabyte RX 6900 XT which fits easily as it’s well under 300mm.
I paid AU$2450 brand new a few weeks ago from a retailer here in Aus, they’re now $3059 at retail.
I would have liked a card with USB-C, but DisplayPort is fine for me at the moment, and if I get an Pro Display XDR I’ll grab one of those Belkin VR cables.
Do you get the full 5K res with that setup? I’ve read stuff over the years that unless all the planets align you only get 4K on the LG 5K Ultrafine. Bunch of different revisions of the hardware too.Usb C cable from back of the LG 5k tb3 port to the 6900xt usb c. Tb3 cable did not work, but the monitor supplied usb c cable works in both os
I do have the newer version of the monitor, if yours is the previous version, there may be some differences in how it works as well^^^^Thanks? - I only have the TB3 cable that came with my LG monitor. Just ordered USB-C to USB-C from Amazon.
However, flys in face of this:

Thunderbolt 3 has adopted the USB-C format, so all Thunderbolt 3 ports are able to use ordinary USB-C cables.www.businessinsider.com

Is it working at full 5K res on your 6900 XT, or only at 4K?I do have the newer version of the monitor, if yours is the previous version, there may be some differences in how it works as well

That’s what I was expecting, not really a desirable solution IMOThe Ultrafine 5k does not support Display Stream Compression, so it will only run in 4K in all cases with USB-C.
The Mac will use a scaled resolution that looks like 5k. But it’s not really 5k.
I believe that because the Pro Display XDR does support Display Stream Compression it will work at full res over USB-C.
I believe just at 4k over usb c, but I’m using it to test mostly, regular use will be tb3 from an mpx module. Is it working at full 5K res on your 6900 XT, or only at 4K?
That’s a pretty big caveat for “works” though, and a serious distinction for anyone reading your post assuming you mean the 5K display works at 5K.I believe just at 4k over usb c, but I’m using it to test mostly, regular use will be tb3 from an mpx module.
Perhaps, I wouldn’t want to use it long term either. The 6900xt is just a stop gap for me until the mpx modules, and I likely will pair it w5700x mpx now and use those for tb3 displayThat’s a pretty big caveat for “works” though, and a serious distinction for anyone reading your post assuming you mean the 5K display works at 5K.
I know I wouldn’t be interested in using a display that way.
