Which sw did you use these with?

Resolve is free btw ;-)

(but in the free version you can't use multiple GPUs unfortunately)

Does your Radeon VII show it's temps and clocks in OS properly? Mine does not.

Consistent, a single VII scored ~50960 on OSX.
Windows top score is 66258 for a single VII, topping the charts. Consider removing power containment, etc if it exists for the VII, not sure if it exists, but seeing a 30% improvement on Win, I’m sure you can improve powerdraw and increase your results.

Thanks Pval. I’m a bit confused with the
Clock speed of 350mhz. One VII is in the chassis and the other is out side on a riser cable. Both are powered by the external power supply. The specs state that its fan will spin when it supplies more than 400 watts. The fan does not spin at any time during luxball.

I’m more interested in Geekbench, I know Luxmark had good scores, but Geekbench for some reasons has lower scores for almost all VEGA cards

Geekbench no longer works on Macs. We saw them reducing scores by up to -30% on AMD and -15% on Nvidia even when we didn’t change hardware or software on our machines. Looks like they were manipulating numbers on the server side after the the app uploads the test data.

Luxmark is open source and runs completely locally so the results can’t be fudged.

Compared to OP results, still doesn't beat my 5,1 10.13.6 with a single Titan X Pascal...

@bitnaut

When it comes to GPU's on the 5.1 (and most likely to any other platform) Nvidia is Lightyears ahead in GPU technology.
My old GTX980Ti was an outstanding card. After that, I used to have two different a Vega 64 at one time and this stupid duct cooler was just horrible, no matter if the shroud was plastic or Aluminium. It just can't get the heat away, the reference default cooling design is just garbage, borderline retarded. Whoever designed that, should put on the big Engineering failure cross of Golgotha.
At least and finally AMD delivered a somewhat functional cooler on the Vega 7. I bought that card under protest with a fist in my pocket.
But what can you do if you want Mojave to extend the usable cMP shelve live?
After all the longer the usage, the better the investment in that creative toolbox. Most likely the Titan X Pascal card is even better in real live than in that benchmark. I seriously hope that this Apple finally get its act together and introduce a super strong Nvidia upgrade solution for that 7.1.

I assume you know that's old result. OP get the Radeon VII working by editing the plist file for Vega 10 or 20.

If you read post #130 and do some simple maths, a single Radon VII now is about 2x faster than your Titan X Pascal in Luxmark.

Oh cool! I stand corrected then.

At this point though, I probably won’t waste putting any more money into the 5,1...I’ll just save for the 7,1 because that’s where the future lies (even though, so far, it’s a future without NVidia and all their advancements).

Um the thing is.. that I am pretty sure that if you drop a couple of amd cards in your macpro 5,1 they will work on the 7,1

Could you post a picture from your impressive 3XGPU Vega 7 setup. This is.. out of this world. What do you use it for, Resolve, FCPX, Adobe Premiere ?? wow, just wow...

I’ll wait til the 7,1 is out in the public before deciding that’s true. We don’t know what “gotchas” Apple has in store for us until it’s actually released.

That is absolutely fair enough.

Pretty nice setup for a Resolve color grader working on films/shorts in up to 7-8K Raw.

We built a similar setup for a client recently.
