Mine is currently stuck on this screen for 15 minutes now. Is anyone else having this problem?

Mine was like that and unfortunately got the "An error occurred while...." alert and now it says 5 hours to finish downloading.

This seems to be due to an interrupted or corrupted download. This can usually be resolved by clearing your Mac App Store cache.

1. Quit the Mac App Store
2. Go to Terminal and type following: open $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.appstore/
3. Move the files inside the folder to the Desktop or any temporary location (if you are confident, you can move them to Trash straight away.)

this worked for me if anyone else wants to try it. no more error and downloading fast now

I had the in downloaded but error on install issue. This fixed it for me. Thanks!

I bare no responsibility for any issues with this method. For those still having issues with downloading big sur try entering this in your terminal application:
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.0.1

Then look for "Installer Mac Big Sur" in your applications folder.

Any chance you can grab an SHA sum of the installer app? Just run shasum -a 512 "path to installer"

I did earlier. Once I restarted and waited a bit before trying again it all flew through.

Just restarted it and now it's downloading again. Hoping it works this time around, fingers crossed!

Download completes but after 2 minutes its errors out - tried numerous times.

Already updated through Software Update but mine just pulled the whole 12.18GB finally but still threw the error hah. Tried to do it a few minutes later and got the error instantly. Who knows maybe tomorrow it'll work and I can grab a copy to do a fresh install.

No joy for me. I've tried about everything besides downloading the install package directly. I'll try tomorrow and await a response from Apple Support on twitter

I got it to finally DL after having the initial DL problem.
then maybe a 1/2 into the instal, I get ”an error occurred applying the software update. only gives me an option to select target disk mode or my backup drive. No Bluetooth, so had to find a wired mouse. Restarted (I’ve never had to restart and update) seems to be stuck at 29 minutes left. Cycles through the same message3x's no dice.
