Now the whine issue can be easily handled. :D

You may get slightly less battery life, but you'll get more battery life than running QuietMBP. :)

Linky. :)

heat-This happened a while ago, in May (not that long ago, but whatever). I was downtown at Starbucks & I noticed that my MacBook Pro was getting real hot, my friend was playing The Sims 2 so I thought well, you know, it's using a lot of memory, video card processing, cpu etc etc. So I just said lets stop with the game and let it cool down for a bit. It was still REALLY hot. The fans weren't coming on & we had it on the table, in a COOL area. Next to the airconditioning vent (it was under the table, and the vent blew upwards and you can feel it on the table). I just put it away after it wouldn't cool down. Since it was overheating so much, I didn't want to keep using it. I was worried I might damage something, 'cause seriously, this thing could cook an egg SERIOUSLY (at that time). Before all this I had reset the PMU.

First, try turning off Windows sharing (if it's turned on), second, download CoreDuoTemp, and third, check out how much temp grease they put on it. If you're very careful, you can remove some of the thermal paste and bring it back down to normal level. :)

As far as the whine goes, see my other post. ;)

Windows sharing is off, when I installed CoreDuoTemp it said 168 degrees Fahrenheit. The whine is annoying, and i'm not going to take this apart to take off some greese. it will void my warranty & results have varied greatly. some people get better results some will stay tyhe same. i want apple to replace or fix my computer themselves. im not an apple ... IT or some ****. i just want them to fix it 'cause i have stuff to do. and NO i don't wanna talk to the phone to some INDIAN about how to fix my computer. all they do is like...read the support page on apple. I READ THAT! heffers. i just need the thing fixed..paint peeling, backlight flickering, kernal panics, heats, freezing, whining & such is TOO much for me to get work done. this is ANNOYING. UGH!

what is a way to convince them to take it????

Make a backup, go to the store you bought it from, and demand an exchange. If you get enough people's attentions in the store, the manager will appease you simply to get you out of there and it makes him look a little less incompetent then the others that work with him.

The Apple store is an hour away, I don't drive, & my dad is working crazy hours. Can't I do this over the phone or something?

I don't think a manager would take fancy to a 15 year old demanding a replacement for his MacBook Pro that just had a cow & a few chickens.

EDIT: but I did come in there asking for a replacement iPod & he looked at me like I was an idiot, but we eventually got it worked out. Just 'cause I'm 15 doesn't mean I'm stupid...STUPID APPLE GENIUS B*TCH!

ugh.

I've noticed that once I place my MBP on a flat hard surface, my temp drops down to 40C. That's down from 60C- 75C. But I normally use my notebook on the couch, bed, floor.

My goodness! That actually worked on my roommate's macbook! I followed the directions in the link and now whenever I open comic life or photo booth and then close it, the whine is gone and the computer is silent as a mouse. Wow

I called them today, I actually got someone who speaked english
I told them everything that was wrong & what I did to make it work, hardware tests, RAM tests, zapped PRAM, reset PMU, reinstalled the OS...& he said ''Well you've done all the hardwork, I guess all we can do is send out a box & have it repaired or replaced, but it sounds like it is the logic board''.

SO the box is coming, I think they'll just replace it with a 2.0 because they can't replace the logic board with a 1.83 GHz could they? They don't make htem anymore..but if there are no problems with it when I get it back then I'll just keep calling & calling. Hopefully they'll get it right.

They may replace it if the cost of repair is too high but they likely have extra 1.83 logic boards for use in repair. Apple will almost always keep a extra supply of parts in the event something requires a repair. For example, if my PM G5 dual 2.0 ghz needed a new logic board, I would probably not be upgraded to the dual core 2.0 model but they would just change out the logic board for my dual cpu model instead. Who knows tho, you may get lucky. Best of luck to you!

I need a new logic board, & screen.
Or atleast a new backlight...if that's possible. Because it is flickering.
The logic board because it whines, & blah lbah. So the screen & logic board...both are expensive. hmm...
But my CD still won't come out

That laptop is extremely disgraceful. Apple should not only replace it, but actually give you a free iPod to cover their shame. I am not joking, you got all known issues with the MBP in a single machine.

In about the time of one week.
I'll call them tomorrow & be like...UPGRADE MY RAM!
haha, no...my magsafe melted & they haven't replaced it yet, so I'm just not gonna include the one I have & they'll give me a free one, & if they charge me or not include one they'll hear about it. & I also have some issues that the MacBook Pro isn't known for ... (flickering backlight...and i think thats it...hmm..)
