OKAY!!!
Well I got it back, they replaced the logic board, and....2 other things I can't understand. It doesn't whine anymore & I've been using it for 30 minutes & it's still as cold as it was when I took it out of the box (which is cold). I LOVE IT EVEN MORE.

BUT they didn't replace my keyboard

ohhh....and I got the new install discs & the letter saying there was a New Version MLB installed. SOOO apparently they make the new logic board for 1.83 GHz too.

Awesome...glad to hear that. Apple's repair facilities usually have really good turn around.

My new one should be here within a week. I'm hoping I don't have any of the problems you had!

i had a thread asking if my HDD vibrations were normal and everyone said something was really not right with it. Thankfully my music collection is the only thing that is important

was that the 'my dad bought me a vibrator...' thread? haha i was reading that. mine vibrates but i don't think its the harddrive. i just don't use the 3 pronged plug so its not really vibrating its just...not grounded. idk how to explain it...hah.

I'm sure mine is the hard drive because I can feel where it's vibrating, right wheere it get very hot, right where the hard drive is. The rest of it doesn't vibrate much (only as a product of the hard drive vibrating).

I just got my MBP and i have the damn annoying "bzzzzzzz" sound coming from the left side of the machine. Not loud but it's there.

Temperature is at 106° F, the machine is idle though.

I'm worried about it giving me problems in the next few weeks... should I send it in NOW? Tell them it's too hot and has an annoying noise?

They are making new logic boards, seriously. They said they are. I would send it in & get it repaired. They'll replace uhm...the logic board, heat pipe, and a fin stack or whatever it's called. This will make it completely SILENT & a lot cooler. Mine was in & out of the repair in 3 days. It took a total of 3 days to get the box, send the box with the MBP, & get it repaired & get it back to me. It was really fast. I like it being silent. It seems a little faster too...hmm...

Anyway, to anyone with the buzz/"whine", & heat problems I would FORSERIOUSLY & MOST DEFINITELY send it in.

So most (if not all of you) starting experiencing problems within the first few days of getting your mbps? This is really frustrating.. leaving a perfectly fine machine for this and right away I have to deal with the noise and the heat :(

Frustrating to hear it when it's quiet (eg photo booth open) and then when you quit :( I WANT IT QUIET... and that heat, current CoreDuoTemp has it at 41° C idle, I'm about to run a high def video see how it affects it... my idle intel iMac is at 39°, so pretty similar... the material of the MBP is def. one of the reasons it feels so ***** hot.

Let's try the high def. movie now... comparing temp on both machines now.

I'd have killed for 41° C at idle! Mine was somewhere around 60° at idle.

Update: After one day of receiving my Macbook pro, I left it at the apple store for a logic board replacement. The rep was very helpful and told me that the logic board replacement "reduces but does not eliminate the sound". He also told me that some sound was "normal".

I decided to out my ear next to every MBP in the store as well as the MBP at CompUSA and oddly enough, they ALL had the 'buzzing' noise I hear from the upper left hand side of the keyboard.

Hmm...
