No thanks. I got a $2000 Apple laptop to run Apple software.

That's everything that's wrong with Linux summed up perfectly IMO...too much work. I'd rather just use OS X

WTF! This is aggravating. I'm not mad at Apple, because I'm the one who bought it. But I really am sorta disappointed, I've been a Mac user all my (short) life. This is the first that I've had this much trouble with in so little time.

You have every right to be mad at Apple-granted that you had your computer since February they should do better quality control testing before they sell a product - and you mentioned that "youre the one who bought it" as if you dont have the right to expect a problem free product that you paid full price for (Im assuming this is the case).
I was also sold a lemon that had to be returned to Apple twice and I am pissed off that they wont give me the option of getting a refund without dealing with restocking fees by the reseller I bought it from. Even though problems can be expected on a new product such as a computer, my feeling is that if the consumer paid full price for a computer, he should at least have the option of being given a credit so that he can exchange it within a reasonable time at a later date once they have worked out the existing problems.
This is what happens when you outsource to cheap labor-as Apple has done with China-products are just not as well put together-just look at all of the complaints people have had about the shabby thermal paste applications.
Just my 0.02 cents

I'm sure they'd give you a full refund if you went there & griped enough. When I called they didn't give me any trouble they just offered to send the box. I'm hoping they'll just send me a replacement but they gave me 2 case numbers...1 for the logic board & 1 for the ... other thing.

Anyway, I hope the peeling paint & crooked keyboard magically go away.
&...eeverything else.

Try getting a refund out of them and see what happens especially if you bought from an online reseller as I did. Nothing but headaches, arguments, frustration from them passing the buck and a lot of time wasted. Maybe someone else has had better luck, but as with most companies they just come up with excuses if they think they can find some justification in not giving you your money back.

Why don't you get it sent in then?
Well, some people rely on their computer for their job but if they did they would most likely (since its the smart thing to do) have a back-up computer.

When I called I told them all the issues I had & the only thing they aren't repairing is the peeling paint. They said they'll replace the keyboard & logic board...(but I still want a replacement  )

If you get it back and it still has issues, they will most likely just replace the whole thing. Are you sure you can't get to a store? They're like 100x more helpful in the store usually, when they go get the manager and you talk/explain everything that's going on.

I only have my permit, & my dad is working crazy hours & the closest store is in Indianapolis or Chicago...which is about an hour away. If I get it back & I still have issues, I'll bring it to one of the stores. The guy on the phone said I could bring it into the Mac Experience but they said they don't do Apple Care stuff soooo I just called until I/we have enough time to go to zee real Apple store (if I have problems...)

I was very satisfied at first, little to no problems, no whine, and none of that stuff. I think it was just the keyboard being crooked I was bothered about. (and something else...can't remember). They way they tell you to put this stuff in the box though is insane. They have 20 different instructions & pictures. All aren't very clear...aha jk. Right now I'm backing up on my iMac, only 14 minutes left! I de-authorized my iTunes already...gosh it's gonna be inconvenient not having a fast computer around. FOR 3 WEEKS! Hopefully only 2, and hopefully they'll actually fix it.

I am very interested in this thread now and will follow it to the end haha. Best of luck to you in getting that thing fixed up. Hopefully it is just totally screwed and Apple will give you a new one!

Three weeks?? Did they actually say that? They're usually very fast...I mean, it ships next-day all three ways, and usually it's in and out within a day or two.

No, but I'm exaggerating. I hope it will come back this Friday. Do you think that if I sent it today at 5 PM it will come back on Friday?

I did all this by phone, by the way.

I wouldn't doubt it...I've had to send laptops into Apple three or four times, and all but once (once because they were backordered on parts) they shipped it out the day after they received it. So, it's entirely possible that they'll receive it tomorrow, ship it out by Wednesday, and you'd have it on Thursday. As long as parts aren't on backorder, I'd say it's a good chance you'll have it back by Friday.

cool. I just hope it works. It feels weird not having that thing. I hope they magically ship me a triple core 3.0 GHz with a 2.0 GHz bus & a GMZZREXXXX90123 video card with 1 GB of vRAM.

oh...& I want 4 GB of RAM.

Why just 4GB? Everything else you listed was out of reach so I would say you should have 16GB :p

4 GB because the upgrade to 4.0005 GB from Apple is $900 without tax.

Story's like this are keeping me from switching allready. I'm hoping with the Rev Bs with core 2 duo there will not be such issues. I really want a mac, but I'm not rich and need something with little maininance(which is the whole mac appeal to me). I suppose I will keep on hunting for a g4 tower for the time being.:(

Yeah, I would wait 'till the next revision MacBook Pro or MacBook. Normally I wouldn't say this beacause I don't believe in the Rev. A myth...but this is like...the Rev. A.A.A

A1: because it is a completely new product.
A2: because it is a completely new processor (AKA intel)
A3: because it is ... what I said.

Man sending it off is difficult. Yesterday I took mine in for a few items including whine, unresponsive keys on the keyboard, and a misaligned lid. Apple Store said it'd be a week, so here's hoping. In the meantime, I'm using an old Dell 800MHz laptop. It got hot and the fans came on after like 2 minutes. I could hear the fans from another room! :D
