Maybe try using better energy settings. The heat produced is noticably less when i use that setting.

You'll have your fixed MBP before I have my new one...when are they gonna ship this damned thing? The estimated ship date was 4 days ago, shouldn't that update?

I wonder what the heck is happening. I ordered mine in January...it was driving me NUTS! I have to wait forever. Like...40 days. I got it March 1st (I checked). When it shipped I was having a HEARTATTACK. I was happy when they upgraded the line on Valentines day from 1.67 & 1.83 to 1.83 & 2.0 with 2.16 upgrade. mine went from the top of the line to completely not made anymore. like...negative. but still very very very forreal capable absolutleteltelyeltkyl. but just a wee bit disaappoieatitn.

i dont feel like spelling....its really overrated. i didnt sleep last nigth either

Apple Losing Business

I've been on the edge of buying a new machine all year, either or both desktop and or laptop. I've been lucky in the past, My dual 533 G4 is still quiet as hell, and done me right over its five long years, even though I've burned out two hard drives, IBM deathstars.

The PISMO is good, too, though slow as hell for what I want it for mobile, video editing and 3D. Not bad as an audio workstation though. Upgrading it any further is a joke, though it seems durable as hell, and I think the plastic is preferable to the metal. It can get plenty hot, but its not made out of oven pan material. Got a bigger profile, too, so it dissipates heat well. Of course, you pay for it in weight. Good luck getting a battery, too. This whining noise problem sounds ultra sucky, though. Never had the PISMO do that.

I really wanted a MBP, but now from what I'm reading, I may wait a little longer into this fall for Conroe. Apple is claiming a 1-2 day ship date on their website. The fact that that's BS is making me stall out as well. Too many globalized corporations are putting their marketing budgets above quality control and customer service. Woe betide them.
I can always go Alienware....ummm, that would mean I'm stuck in Windows, no.....
Damn it apple, why do you pull this crap?

Fry's is selling dual 2.3 G5s for a bit of a discount off list. They should be cheap by fall, too.

Apple has winners and losers. Its quite a trick trying to avoid the clunkers.

I have a feeling it might be the 7200rpm drive I added that's holding the whole thing up.

I need one. I have the 5400 which is sooooooo much slower. Ugh. I noticed a HUGE difference when I did that with my iMac from 4200 to 5400. Then 5400 to 7200. It was amazing. I'm gonna do that when the 80 GB is WAY too small (& it's sorta small now).

My question is are they putting these good logic boards in the macbook pros that are shipping now? I would like to think so but Apple kept putting the bad displays in the last generation 15" powerbooks they sold but would replace them with the good one when people complained. Is apple doing the same thing now with logic boards on the MBP?

when I first got my macbook pro, it had the whine and heat issue...and a bad usb port, scrammbled sleep function, and warpped lid. I sent it in, and got it back; everything was fine and worked prefectly! (I even bought a 1gb ram to compliment the 512 which hasn't arrived yet) They replace the logic board with the new one and video card. Then the worst happened. I was listening to music and writing a paper the day I got it back and it powered off. I tried to turn it on but it refused. I called apple and they did the trouble shooting, which didn't work, so they considered it dead and scheduled me to send it in for repair, AGAIN! I was soo pissed. Apple's quality has gotten bad! I'm really considering to extend the warrenty.

I don't think they are. Someone was PMing me on their 26 week MacBook Pro whether they should send it in for repair or not. He/she called & someone said they had started producing the good logic boards on June 21. Week 26 is later than June 21 & he was having the same old issues.

Get AppleCare about 1 month before it runs out...you won't need it now so unless you have some extra money laying around I would just wait.

Apple's quality has drapped a bit though.

Typical Apple. I l ike the look of their products and I love OSX but they really screw their customers if they feel they can squeeze a few extra bucks out of them. Just start putting the good boards into the computers and be done with it geez!
