On the topic of bad reviews and backlash, I feel privileged to be coming in after all of that. I feel like I have a device that has fully matured through Essential's tender love and care to it, and while the camera still lacks (but has vastly improved from everything I've seen/read) I'm not a big camera guy so that I can live with just fine. So far, I'm loving this device. Two most important things to me on a phone are build quality and screen quality hands down. This phone ticks both boxes with flying colors.

This is a niche product, but I think that has served it well. They've been able to listen to the voices of their users and deliver a terrific end product at a ridiculously low price for the quality. Again, I feel privileged to be in my position.

I find Essential’s determination to make the phone better and better admirable. I would absolutely trust them as a company if an Essential 2 was released.

Agreed. Folks I'm in love with this phone. Still hanging on to my X of course, just in case the "itch to switch" happens, but I don't have any plans of that. I'm rolling with this phone for the foreseeable future.

Back with another random thought, I'm on vacation right now at the Florida, both PH-1 and iPhone X in tow. One thing I really appreciate about the PH-1 camera is it's a wider angle lens vs the X, or at least appears to be. I'm not incredibly knowledge on camera spec. Either way, I can capture more of the scene on the PH-1 than the X. Just makes me wish they went telephoto with the second camera instead of monochrome.

I love the 360 camera, that's one accessory I would recommend. Can't wait until something like is built in.

Well, I guess if someone buy essential, there could possibly be another one. It did make things a little easier for me this year, don't know what I would've done between the S9, Note 9, and Essential 2.

And the price goes even lower. Down to $223.99 in Amazon for the Halo Gray color.

I ended up ordering one. At this price I can rock the thing naked and not worry. I always said I'd buy this when it hit $200. Yesterday's $280 was a bit too steep but $223.99 did it for me. :)

What! I'm definitely getting a price adjustment or reordering. That's over $60 bucks cheaper than when I ordered a day ago.

Even better deal.

EDIT: Amazon doesn't do price adjustments. Lame. So I've reordered and will return the first one. Worth it to save ~60 bucks.

Wonder what spurred about the new price drop. Was $279.99 not moving the product, maybe?

At $223, this is an insane deal.

They got me at the $224 price. I had an Amazon credit of $35 too so the phone was only $204 after taxes. I just couldn't pass that up even if it sits in a drawer. I have the Note 9 on the way too.

Looks like the price went up. I wonder if it will come back down or that was the last of their inventory.

looks like i missed the $223 sale. oh well, now i will keep looking more often.

set up a price alert notification at camelcamelcamel.com. That's what I did and was alerted of the $223 and bought right away.. :)
thanks for the tip.

my friend has one. just had a look. vanilla install without any apps take up 19 to 22gb???? !!!! that's insane. Even Windows 10 full install doesn't take that much space.

The Essential Phone is my favorite smartphone of all-time.

Coming back to my essential phone for a bit, and man this design still just feels and looks great, especially with Android 9. It's such a shame that the essential phone 2 was cancelled, hopefully they get bought and are able to do a follow-up

How awesome if Samsung buys them out? How awesome would an essential designed phone with Samsung engineering be? Oraybe Google, but after what Google has done with HTC and Motorola, maybe not.
