1. Photo from me (Pro left XS right)
2. Screenshot of YouTube Review (Pro left XS right)
Full brightness in both cases.
TT on in the First Image on both devices. No information about TT in the YouTube video.

So would you guys think it’s be best to hold off buying an 11 Pro right now? Wait for this to blow over? Or just get a normal 11?

The screens can't possibly get warmer and warmer and warmer and warmer every year. They've gotten warmer every year since the 6, good grief. Eventually it's too far, and we reached that point with the Xs.

Need a whitepoint slider.
I remember the iPhone 4s having that yellow tint , I believe it started all off back then. Good to see nothing has changed.

Compared to my iPhone X which I am replacing today, there is a very noticeable dingy-yellow color cast. The color temperature is definitely warmer that I would like. The phone I attached was taking with my iPad Pro showing the X on the left and Pro Max on the right.

I haven't decided is I am going to live with it or not.. If I don't see the two side by side the issue isn't as noticeable to me. Given the other reports I have read I am inclined to believe that is intentional.
Samsung panels mate, they have reduced blue light further since the X. It's the same when comparing Samsung note 9 to a note 10 or s9 to an S10.

Are you saying that it is Samsung who has reduced the white points?
Comparing my IPPM to my S10+, the S10+ is whiter.

But if I am not wrong Samsung includes a screen calibration within their Android layout. So whoever can still play with colour profiles or with sliders to match their preferences If they are are not happy with the factory screen calibration.

Adding more insult to the injury. My iPhone X plays HDR on YouTube but my Pro max doesn’t. Is my phone defective or is this the case for everyone. Are all the reviewers in YouTube dull? Display is one of the main components of a smart phone , how is this not mentioned in any reviews !

The screens are very yellow. I’ve been poking around on here with the same issues. Known as the “Technology Nerd” nearing 1,000,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Check my responses a few posts back. This looks to be a feature of this display from my measurements. They all lack blue in their gray scales. Which leaves more red and green. Red and green light makes yellow. Then the green channel seems to be a bit higher than the red so you also get greenish yellow.

It’s either intentional or a mistake because 4 screens of the phones I bought look this way. What we want is a color temp of 6,500K at D65 white. Some screens meet 6,500K color temp but that doesn’t mean it’s white.

So it’s either a mistake this year where someone assumes 6,500K and D65 are the same thing, an effort to reduce harmful blue light like they promised OR something like trying to reduce blue subpixel pixel burn in. Those are the subpixels that wear down first. With a display that can get so bright I wonder if this is intentional???

Or still, maybe there is a characteristic of this display where they are having trouble with the blue channel and are doing their best.

This is where I am excited for micro LED. It’s not an organic display and we won’t have to worry about blue subpixel burn in so MAYBE white will be white!??? I’m not so patiently waiting. I can tell you that the regular ol’ 11 screen IS the white you are looking for - no Star Wars reference ?
Long time subscriber here. Love your videos.

Not to spoil what you're likely to cover in your YouTube video, but were you able to get measurements on what the color temperature is? I've had two 11 Pro Max's devices and their whites were quite different. One being far warmer than the other. (But I have a keen eye for this sort of thing.) There was also variance in the brightness when auto-brightness turned off. And don't get me started on the grey uniformity. :)

I'm so sick and tired of these Apple store employees who can never see the difference between any two screens you show them. My first 11 Pro had weak contrast and a slight green cast to the display. Genius said he couldn't see the difference even though seven other people I showed could. My express replacement has much better contrast but is more yellow. Showed it to a Genius today, even compared it directly beside a display unit which had perfect whites and even under that perfect store lighting I could still see mine had more yellow and he said he couldn't. I immediately saw that the store unit was what I wanted mine to look like and he saw no difference. Like, I understand that these differences are not as drastic as night shift on versus night shift off or something crazy like that, but I'm not blind. If you look closely you can see they are different.
I’ve experienced that plenty of times, I think they’re either blind or aren’t being genuine with their answer.

YouTube has to support HDR for the iPhone 11 Pro. It was the same for the iPhone XS last year iirc

@All:

Last year I had the issue with my iPhone XS, it was so yellowish.
So I put off True Tone and very important also Auto Brightness.

Could anybody with an iPhone 11 Pro test it and reply if the phone is still too yellow?
Thanks.

Why did you change your nightshift, maybe it has todo something with that?

I’ve tried messing with True Tone on and off and the iPhone 11 pro is noticeably more yellow than my iPad Pro. Since I go back and forth the difference jumps out at you. Personally I wish I could match the white balance but it’s not possible. The other issue is the colour shifts when you tilt the phone. In fact most of the colour shift is gone when the phone is titled. Is this normal?

The color shift has been there since the X. They all have that.

They are 'sales people'. They operate for one function only - money. They are not your friend, they are nice to your credit card. It is their job to take money from you quickly. The minute you leave the shop they forget you and move to the next punter.
Use your own feelings on this. If you are not 100% happy then return it.
The more products that get returned, the better it is for you in terms of QC in future years.

Now that's VERY VERY interesting as I still have a 4S (bought March 2012 from a phone carrier) and that display is so white that it's blue white in comparison to my X which is super white and my Fiance's SE which is yellow towards the top - very noticeable on Apple Books etc.
After all of this, I feel that I won't ever change my iPhone X.

They do not. I have a Note 10 + and there is nothing I can see but a blue light filter. The Sammy flagships don't have the screen woes with every release like the iPhone OLEDs. I switch back and forth between platforms and the Sammy screens are always better IMO. No yellow screens or color shifting off axis. The colors are more vivid, maybe a bit to excess. But pleasing to the eye.

Don't you have this menu on your Samsung? Apparently they have the option of setting cooler or warmer white point.

This is exactly what is missing into iOS screen settings :(

I believe the blue light filter being reduced is on hardware level. This is what I also noticed on the latest samsung OLED panels compared to previous year models.

Ironically the sales associates were the ones who said they could see the difference while the Geniuses said they couldn’t.

I’ve been on iOS since 2009 and since 2009 I’ve seen people complaining that their screen is too yellow or too blue.

I wonder what the complaint will be when we use holograms.
