I for sure will get the AW6, upgrading from my SSSB A4. Battery life gets icky after 2 years of use and I want the always on screen. That said for the first time ever, I fully plan on getting an aluminum model for the AW6... reasons:

1. I'll keep the AW4 as my sleep watch and if I want a more "formal" look for something.
2. I want to see how I like the Aluminum watches as obviously I would save a TON by getting them. Can I "live" with the inevitable scuffs and marks on the case and screen that I don't get on the SS and SSSB models I have had since Apple Watch Series 0? I'm pretty OCD but on the other hand before Apple Watches I never minded reasonable scuffs on the glass of other watches I have had...
3. This "experiment" has a known lifespan as I know *for sure* I will likely also buy the AW7 in 2021 since I think it is likely to be a new form factor like the AW3->AW4 transition so I can always shift back to saphhire and better materials then without too much a loss in value.

I too like the look of the space black. The main reason I get the SS SB model, is the durability of the casing and the sapphire glass. If Apple offered a option for the aluminum with sapphire screen, I would give that a go this year. If I do get the series 6, I will hang onto it for a few years, unless Apple come up with something phenomenal next year.
Yeah I’ve seen too many aluminum models get their screens smashed / cracked from Even a relatively short fall. I’m considering just doing aluminum but getting AppleCare+ (never bought it on a watch in the past)... I guess we’ll see.

Speaking of screen smashed, I accidentally dropped my series 5 (from about 4 - 4.5’) on a tile floor while trying to put on my sport band.last week The screen hit the floor and the watch bounced on the tile a second time. I thought for sure the screen would be damaged and I would have to use one of my AC+ incidents. Thankfully, the screen didn’t incur a scratch, chip or any other problem from the fall. No damage to the watch at all. If that had been the aluminum model, my outcome would have been a smashed screen more than likely. I was glad I had purchased the SS LTE model after that unexpected wake up “call.”

I don’t have a Apple Watch at the moment as I am still on a Android Phone, so am currently lumbered with the 46mm 2018 Galaxy Watch. However seeing as I will be switching to the iPhone this year, I will be looking to get the Apple Watch 6. Just undecided if it will be the WiFi or cellular version.

With so much of the focus on the iPhone leaks, we've heard so little about the Watch. I still have my S4 as the S5 was a small update, hoping to see a bigger update with the S6.

Depends on the new features, my 44 S4 Cellular works fine and nothing about the 5 was compelling enough to upgrade, if the 6 is the same I'll keep my 4.

The sapphire displays are more brittle in impacts due to their hardness properties. They will happily resist scruffs and scratches though. You say if it had been the aluminium model then the screen would more than likely be smashed but I say it’s the other way around. My aluminium S2 was dropped on a tiled floor and thankfully it didn’t incur a scratch. It’s totally luck of the draw and the aluminium model isn’t crap like many here like to promote for some odd reason.

This happens every year by design with the Apple Watch. There’s not much to discuss, because no one really knows anything about the watch, there’s very few leaks with only two suppliers. Also, The focus really isn’t about the hardware in the Apple Watch, as that’s expected to say the same, it’s really about watchOS improvements made. That’s where the real experience is.

I have to agree regarding the display on my S4 Aluminum watch. Over the almost 4 years that I’ve had the aluminum S2 and S4, I’ve never shattered a screen (knock on wood) and I have dropped my watch so much over the years.

I’ll probably get the 6. I have the 3 and still love it, wear it every day and it still works very well, but I want the ECG feature. Maybe if the 6 isn’t much of an upgrade over the 5 then I might just save a bit and get the 5 instead.

Sticking with my Series 5. I usually switch every second release. My 5 is rock solid and will hold out for another year.

Hmm...new Fitbit announced today that has a reported 6 day battery life. AMOLED always on display too.
It remains to be seen if this is real, but if so, Apple will need to step it up.

Maybe. I have a FitBit right now and have been watching the Apple Watch from the sidelines. The Series 5 was close to tempting me but without ECG on day 1 in the UK I waited. Now ECG is in the UK I may get a Series 6. I like to buy hardware close to launch to maximise lifespan of the product.

Proud owner of a 44mm AW4 GPS aluminium since its launch, I really hope to see some significant improvements on the AW6 the get the right excuse to buy one.

Bigger screen/change in form factor, new health/fitness functionalities, better battery life and more flexibility in creating the watch faces will make the decision a no brained for me.

I commented on that front main page article, and this is huge news for Fitbit. Seriously, Fitbit made a very tactical move announcing this week before Apples keynote, putting Apple on the pedestal that all Eyes are on them, and What is advancements the Series 6 offers, especially given the Series 5 was a menial upgrade at best. What is crucial for Apple, is keeping the price point relative of what the technology is offering to make it appealing for the consumer.

I don't follow Fitbit products, gave up on them over a lack of accuracy, but this is a good thing. The more pressure on Apple to improve their product the better. There's really only a couple of things I need from it that it doesn't already do and battery life is by far the biggest.

I get a new Apple watch every year and then hand off last year's model to one of my two sons. This way the three of us all have relatively up to date watches which we all use heavily each day and Dad gets a new watch every year.
