I’m sticking with my ss s4, unless I can find a Hermès stainless black s5 for a discount...

Ebay. But be careful With a watch of that value, as I would only trust a reputable seller with at least 500 feedback postings or more. Right now, there’s one listed at $1,050.00 for example. I’d also make sure a warranty is attached.

Given Apple's price hikes, gone are the days when I could update one or some of my Apple gear on a bi-yearly schedule. Still rocking a series 4, and an iPhone X, and a 2014 MBP.
Apple watch is still chugging on fine, it's still fast and loads things well. iPhone X is still wicked fast, but I'll need to replace the battery in that. Cheaper than a new phone with the same design and a marginally better camera, which is all Apple's innovation these days. But that 2014 MBP is the next thing to replace. Waiting for Apple silicon.

If you can afford to wait a month or so, just get the new watch. Hopefully, it has some new health monitoring feature.

Certainly be careful as a seller as eBay supports the buyer 100%. You get your money back quickly if there is an issue whereas the person selling is wide open to have a complaint filed and the item lost.

On a Series 5 Nike, definitely switching to SS Series 6. I want the premium look, the sapphire screen, and the newer processor, and I never once used the exclusive Nike faces. If the Series 7 is a form factor change I’ll be upgrading to that as well, but if not I can wait for the 8. I probably won’t go aluminum anymore... I like the premium look and the durable screen of the SS too much. Almost nobody I see in the wild has a stainless steel silver Apple Watch, I won’t mind being one of the few. Money is no object when it comes to the most convenient personal safety device known to man.

Do people generally notice that the watches have different finishes or is it more a element of personal satisfaction to the wearer? I bought the Nike S5 so I could have the faces as in my opinion they are the best faces in the range. I’d definitely buy the Nike version again. If I find myself in a situation where I want the premium look, I wear a premium mechanical rather than my smartwatch personally.

Exactly! Premium look = premium watch. On a daily use I wear my GPS only Apple Watch. When there is a need for something more „premium“ I‘ll wear something like a Patek, Jaege-LeCoultre or at least a King Seiko... I love my Apple Watch for what it ist, but nothing goes over the timeless beauty of a mechanical watch. The only reason why I would upgrade to a SS AW6 would be because of the better glas on the screen.

I quite agree. Not to say the stainless AW isn’t a very nice watch too, I just don’t think it stands out as more premium personally and is more a point of personal satisfaction. I’d consider a secondhand one as I don’t think they are worth their asking price new. I’ve seen quite a few barely worn S5 stainless models coming up for less than £300. You can’t beat a nice proper watch though for special occasions IMO :)

I'm still happily using my S4. The S5 wasn't enough of a jump to warrant the upgrade. Hoping the S6 gives me a reason to buy it. Do want the always on display though

Purely an aesthetic preference to prefer the space black to the space gray for the watch I will wear daily— nothing to do with dressing up or down, for my part. (I don’t disagree on the mechanical looking nicer if that’s what one is going for.)

(Honestly, I didn’t wear a watch for a good 17 years, and the Apple Watch didn’t change my mind about wearing a watch initially. It wasn’t until I decided to try it as a fitness device that I ended up getting hooked... so yeah. I’m not so much a watch guy as just a gadget guy I suppose.)

Im currently on a series 3 and im probably going to upgrade to the series 6 when it comes out. my series 3 is great but I would like more internal space than the 8GB I have and be able to install updates without having to unpair the watch every time.
I have a series 3. I don't have to unpair my watch to update. Why do you? Just curious.

I have an almost supernaturally generous daughter who gave me her 5 this summer because she preferred a normal watch.
That upgraded me from a 3 so I’m not buying anytime soon. I’ll wait a couple of generations.
That was very gracious of your daughter. Good on her. I did the same thing for my brother last year gifting him a SS SB series 3. It was his first Apple Watch and he was thrilled after he started using it.

Through a black hole in an alternate universe a company called Apple is selling a smartwatch with a super light casing made from all-new 'aluminium' at a premium over the cheap and heavy steel lol.

My original apple watch is not working need a new watch (screen popped)

Waiting to see what Apple Watch 6 has to offer

Any of you guys interested?

Very likely. My Apple Watch history is: Series 0 -> Series 3 -> Series 4

I didn't get the 5 because it didn't really have anything I was interested in. The always on display was kinda neat, sorta, but nothing I ever wanted and certainly not worth me doing an upgrade. However, with the possibility of better sleep monitoring (which would be important for me) and O2 saturation (again, for the sleeping), I could definitely see myself getting a Series 6.

I may update this year from my S4, unless nothing is really offered between the two generations.

I'd like to get a cellular model so I can start leaving my phone at home and break my smartphone addiction.

I have a SS AW and I also don't think it stands out as more premium either. I rarely even notice the finish of someone's AW unless it's very obvious (they're up close and I can see it's the space grey or silver aluminum), and even then I don't think anything of it. It's not even really on my radar, likely because Apple Watches/smartwatches in general are so ubiquitous these days. If I notice something it's more likely to be the brand of watch and then I'm more noticing from an interest in smartwatches/fitness watches standpoint, lol (I'm into both fitness and tech so I'm always interested in fitness related tech). If I felt I needed to wear something that looked dressier I'd wear a non-smartwatch.

Doubtful unless there's some major performance upgrade. I upgraded from the S2 to S4 because the performance difference was significant to me. It'd have to be to that degree in order for me to upgrade. Otherwise I will wait until the S7.

That’s fair enough :)
I’m into fitness too so bought the Nike version which I’ve been thrilled with. I can’t see any need to change it this year and now I’ve disabled AOD I’m getting two days battery even with fitness activities. It’s been a good watch even if my first S5 was faulty.

there’s only so much ‘performance’ you can put into a watch. What it’s really about, is the Health features. But, I don’t find myself taking advantage of all the health features, but what I’m really looking for is for the watch to be it’s own product without relying on the iPhone. That will be a ‘game-changer’, and then with micro LED is here.

Hard to answer with out knowing what he series 6 upgrades are. If it’s the same form factor, absolutely not upgrading yet. I have a series 5 and am generally happy. It’s my first smart watch, and honestly i will say I have been surprised how ‘slow‘ it is. I hoped it would be snappier. I am shocked there isn’t a browser. but over all i love my Apple Watch series 5.
