If you like taking spontaneous pictures of things you see then you don’t need cellular, you will always find a way to have your phone with you.
As a photographer I'm more likely to have my DSLR with me if I want to take a picture! But yes I can't really see me leaving the iPhone at home very often.

So will either go for a new Series 5 or 6. It will be my first :apple:Watch. Just trying to decide between cellular or not.

Don't really want to spend the extra £££ but don't want buyers remorse.
I’m on my second Apple Watch and neither have been cellular. I can’t say I’ve ever wished they were either as I have my phone with me when I want to be reachable. The only time I’m away from my phone is when I go out for a run and I don’t particularly want people phoning me then anyway. The other factor is the extra cost on your phone bill for having the extension to your watch.

That’s what puts me off tbh. I doubt it would benefit me. Plus you have to buy the more expensive model if you go that route. Think it will be black aluminium then. Just have to decide between the new one or last years model once we know the features and cost.

I wish they did the SS without cellular, I really don’t like the AL models and always prefer SS.

I have the gold aluminum 44mm S4 and I paid the $10 plus tax monthly for 23 months before I canceled it on my account. Since I was paying monthly on the watch I had to pay the extra fee for cellular until the Watch was paid off. I always have my phone on me so if I upgrade to the S6, I’m still going to buy the gold aluminum 44mm with cellular in case I want to activate it with Verizon later on.

I’ve seen some of your photos in the photography thread. Very nice work!

The only advantage for me with LTE on the Apple Watch, it’s not carrying around a larger iPhone and everything else that I have, I didn’t really find advantage that to have LTE, so it wasn’t worth the extra $13 a month, but if you have to carry around a DSLR and your iPhone, it definitely would reduce some weight.

I’ve got the space grey aluminium S5 Nike 40mm and it’s a great watch. Definitely see what the new watch brings but it might be worth finding a really good deal in an S5. Watches up until now haven’t really changed massively year on year but who knows we might see something big with the S6. Unless you’re leaving your phone at home a lot then weigh up whether £10 a month to have cellular is really worth it. It’s not for me personally.

I never leave home without my iPhone. So I think I’ll go without cellular and the extra monthly phone bill.

No sapphire display (rumors), no AW6 for me.

Huh? Where did you hear that?

I highly doubt Apple would stop making the higher-end Watches with sapphire displays. It‘s one of their best (up-)selling points.

With force touch being dropped I wonder if this will result in thicker/ more durable screens, they might change their approach with what's offered. Having said that, it is a nice little earner for them when people smash them so who knows.

I'm on a series 2 and whist I still think it works fine for me, it's not getting the next WatchOS so I'll be getting a Series 6 when available.

I have a series 0 and it still works fine as a watch. If Apple were to return to giving us a half decent music app with basic functionality then I might be tempted.

Last year I wanted to replace my Series 2 with the Series 5 in Titanium, but this model was not available in any nearby Apple store and I could not choose pickup in the store when ordering it online. At some point I decided, that my Series 2 was still fine...

This year the Series 2 will not get the update to WatchOS 7 und I am really looking forward to a watch with cellular option, so that I can leave my phone more often at home. If a titanium model is not available at the store I will probably take the stainless steel watch.

It is indeed but if you’re paying £399 for a watch it really should come with a sapphire display but strangely it doesn’t with Apple.

Price discussion are always kinda moot. If most of the smartwatch buying public thought that a Watch at that price point needs to have a sapphire display, the Apple Watch wouldn‘t be selling as well as it does. And every company likes margins and wants to have features that entice buyers to go for the more expensive product. For the Watches, Apple chose body and screen materials as those features. Would you prefer if the cheaper Watches had slower processors instead?
