How does the parked car feature work? Does it work on the iPhone 6? Do you have to switch anything on in particular (frequent locations) or does it just know?
Works fine on 6. It appears to work by noting when you disconnect from your car's Bluetooth or Carplay. I get a notification within minutes noting my parking spot.

"It doesn't work for me...SO IT MUST BE A COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE AND MOST CERTAINLY CAN'T POSSIBLY WORK FOR ANYONE ELSE!!!"
I used it in NYC today for routing. It caught the same traffic situation that Waze did and steered me to the same route on the fly.

At first I hated the large font. After using it for a while, realizing that I only need to find places and travel there, i've realized it's amazing and very back to Apple style app which is a breath of fresh air.

I really wish they could improve the search. The fact that it discriminates on "Street" vs. "St" is so annoying. And generally it has a tendency to recommend POIs that are very far away, vs. just doing a generic search of the area of focus.

The fact that it is going to see recently searched Google addresses is interesting. I generally verify my searches in Google before I leave, to make sure that I'm going to the right place. So my workflow will probably end up being: Search in Google, open Apple Maps and grab the Google address, and run GPS through CarPlay.

It is supposed to work with car mode. The phone will remember when one unplugs the phone from the car.

I really like the iOS 10 update to maps.
I too like the new maps version however they're still behind in terms of search results. In france I tried looking for clarmont ferrand (it's like boston for an American) and that didn't come up. Also like some others I get results way off the map... perhaps searching first within the visualised area then going through 10km iterations would be better than trying to match on name alone...

As long as you won't be able to download maps offline or get them cached for next use I won't use Maps. That's how Maps.ME or Google Maps win there.

Searching is also terrible compared to hated by me Google Maps.

Both Apple and Google misses building numbers I have in Open Street Maps (Maps.ME) which helps a lot.

For use in the UK, it will wants to take me to the US for simple searches. You'd have thought the search would have improved over the years. Google Maps is still a clear winner for me, although I did quite enjoy using it on Car Play overseas in my hire car.

I really like the design of the iOS 10 Apple Maps app, however the data and POI suggestions, is still nowhere close to Google. Therefore I will continue to use Google as I have way more trust for it.

I am thoroughly enjoying the new maps. The ability to move the map around while in navigation, the bottom bar makes it easier to search and just the overall new UI. I am very pleased with the update.

I didn't care for the search box at first. It's grown on me as time has passed. As others have said POI is something I'd like to see Apple improve upon.

I just print out mapquest directions. :p

I was under the impression Google Maps incorporated Waze data ... is that not the case?

Not sure about the degree of data sharing, I only saw it for accidents reported via Waze in Google Maps, but their routing algorithms are quite different. Google Maps (and Apple Maps) tend to offer the fastest and simplest to follow routes, while Waze seems to be into time-saving tricks, so will often suggest weirdest routes across some side-roads just to save a minute. Both Waze & Google have much more advanced POI database, compared to Apple Maps, though. If Apple manage to improve their search/POI in Maps, it will be great.

POI has been getting slowly better here in Phoenix but remains the only reason I even have Google Maps installed. Occasionally I will check gmaps for a POI and plug the result into Apple Maps which I have always found better for actual navigation and usability. It has served me well all across the UK, in Spain, South Africa and many US states.

Last time I tried Google maps it took me a few minutes to even find out how to change between satellite view and line maps. Even when I did find it there's a bunch of options in there, some of which are not mutually exclusive, with no indication whatsoever what can be enabled/disabled at the same time. Visually it looks for all the world like satellite view and traffic view for example cannot be enabled at the same time (they can)

As for improvements to Apple Maps, yes POI should and could be improved. The other thing I'd like to see is lane advice like Navigon has - a very handy feature when you're in an unfamiliar location.

My favorite thing: your ETA takes time zones into account now. So when it says arriving at 3:30pm, it means 3:30pm in the right time zone. I loved this feature this last weekend.

Really not a fan of the new maps. Far too much emphasis on directions and navigation. I use maps to find a location and look at traffic en route but I'm more than capable of finding my own way, but now Maps insists on telling me how long it will take to get everywhere.

I like how Maps functions in iOS 10, especially on the Lock Screen, but it's taken me the wrong way so many times I'm having trouble trusting it. Google Maps shows nothing on Lock Screen.

Still crap in the Caribbean.

I searched for "KFC" it sent me to Mexico? Europe? I don't even know which one.

There are 32 KFC locations in my vicinity.

Also, the satellite image was updated for my area in the last 5 weeks; now it's all clouds. How did this pass quality control?

Thailand is also rubbish - when I try and set my home location even though I set the house number it positions my home in the centre of the street which is 1 km away and there is no way to move the pin :(

What, you can't search while navigating? I have to end the turn by turn directions to get to a blank search bar. Did Apple not think I may want to search for something other than Breakfast.

Apple Maps needs to learn what a service road of a main road is and you can't just make a left or right from a main road you need to be on the service road.

Also you have a slid up search bar and a slid up control panel sometimes the control panel slides up, sometimes the search bar comes up, it's a crap shoot.

The first issue with searching while on the route is a little wonky.

I'm curious if this is a way to say they aren't encouraging people to mess with their phone while driving? Or maybe it's functionality that's coming later.

The part about the pull up bar I've seen mentioned a few times. Gotta say I don't see how it's happening to people. You don't have to go to the very bottom of the screen to pull up the maps bar.
