Search is the worst. It makes no sense and I have no idea why Apple hasn't fixed it yet.

If you are looking for something with multiple locations/hits just show the closest ones first. How is this that complicated?

I was surprised when using it this afternoon that a warning for an accident came up. Have NEVER seen that before.

Tapped on the accident icon as I got closer and it said it had been reported 10 minutes prior...and I pulled up...and there it was!

Where does Maps get this info? Is that also pulled from Waze? I started tapping through the app to see if there was a new reporting function I missed.

Waze provides data for Apple Maps and Tomtom as well (here in Europe at least). Also got my 1st dynamic rerouting on my way from Austria to Germany some weeks ago. Never had this before.
"Road work ahead"- and "You are still on the fastest route"-messages were also new to me.
Will use Carplay instead of "Audi Connect" in the future ;).

Still crap in the Caribbean.

I searched for "KFC" it sent me to Mexico? Europe? I don't even know which one.

There are 32 KFC locations in my vicinity.

But you've not set your location?

Anyone know how I can disable traffic notifications? Every day when I pick my kid up from school it tells me it's going to take me 9 minutes to get home and traffic is light (I live in a fairly small town). Would rather not receive these notifications but don't see anything under Maps in Settings.

Hmm... I'll try that. It would make sense, doesn't seem like I should have to disable all map notifications though.

No...just delete the ability for it to show up on the lock screen. That's probably the one that's bothering you. Doesnitnto me every time I get in my car too.

Have to say it's not bad in portrait, but landscape doesn't show enough of the map! Also it's not possible to zoom and pan freely when it's navigating. For these reasons, I'll be sticking with Google.

Why won't google maps / Apple maps add crowd traffic speed? If they did would drop waze

This feature and "send eta" or share drive are no brainers to me. Also add which lane to turn like google maps.

Now if they added the cache local maps function like google maps then I wouldn't use gmaps or waze.

Make it happen Apple!

But overall hugh improvement over ios 9 maps.

I'm definitely in favor of send ETA. That's a pretty valuable feature.

I need "north always up" navigation mode like Google and Waze have.
If only that was possible, I would use Apple Maps. I love how well it integrates with the lock screen.

There's no explicit button to cache a locale (I agree that could potentially be useful once in a while) but for navigation it definitely caches along your route. Ignore me if you already knew that, I just wasn't clear from your post.

From my interpretation of how google maps does this is that you can store(cache) your local area to reduce data usage? If so it would also help in areas with spotty service.

Yep, I think that's the idea. I've navigated using Apple Maps and strayed well into the north of Arizona and not had coverage for around an hour and the map remained available while navigating (you cannot end and restart navigation though. At least you couldn't in iOS 9). Explicitly choosing areas to cache may be handy sometimes though, I agree.

I use it when I fly overseas...cache the parts of a country I'll be driving in. Doesn't give voice direction, just dings, but better than paying $100 in roaming charges to drive an hour from the airport to your hotel.

Also, the satellite image was updated for my area in the last 5 weeks; now it's all clouds. How did this pass quality control?

Come to Mexico city, I'll treat you to a pair of wings.

I can't speak of 10 but on 9 it's not very good here in mexico and here offline maps are certainly needed. I use Sygic, the best I have found for mexico.

A major improvement in Map's dynamic re-routing, very impressive! During the drive Maps popped up a 10-minute shorter route suggestion and redirected me on the fly. Turned out there was a big jam on my usual route, which was also confirmed by Waze. Well done!
