What do you mean? As long as it supports CarPlay, it shouldn't matter, right?
Wrong. The initial CarPlay standard (as it relates to building a car that supports it via the built-in head unit) was only concerned with receiving output for a single screen. To support outputting to the in-dash instrument display, part of the updated iOS 10 CarPlay spec, would require a software update on the head unit as well. I wish Apple had built the standard to think ahead and support the second screen for in-dash, but they didn't, so there you have it.

I can confirm that CarPlay doesn't output turn-by-turn to my in-dash screen on iOS 10 GM.

I haven't figured out how to clear the search history. Did Apple remove that feature?

Oh, I see what you're saying. If you have a 2nd screen in the Dash that shows stuff. But, for single screen headunits, there shouldn't be anything that needs to be updated. Correct?

I don't see any "clear all" type button but you can just swipe left on a previously made search and individually delete them.

Yeah I noticed. I am happy to see that we can now delete recent locations in the calendar app. That's nice.

I just want suggested locations in the Calendar app to suggest places other than my home for everything. Hoping that goes live tomorrow.

The only way I found was to slide right-to-left on each entry to delete them, similar to deleting emails, etc. Can't find a way to organise the favourites either (like rename or reorder in the list).

Nor on my 2016 Seat. I've tried asking them but they don't even understand the question, let alone have an answer for me. Car firmware updates remind me of mobile phone ones, prior to the iPhone - infrequent or non existent and clouded in secrecy and non communication.

The iOS 10 update on Maps is a huge improvement, and fixes almost all of my complaints. Almost.

When I'm using navigation for driving and reach my destination, Maps lets the display go dark. If I'm in a familiar neighborhood, no problem, but if I'm in an unfamiliar neighborhood, I really want the display to stay on. If the destination is not an obvious landmark, or street numbers are screwed up, or parking is not available, or the map information is incorrect, this is when I really need local mapping. And at this moment, the screen goes dark, so I'd have to pull the phone out of the dashboard mount, unlock it, start up a different mapping app that keeps the display on, and put the phone back in the dashboard mount. Not easily done while driving in local traffic.

Is there any way to tell Maps to keep the display on until I close the app or lock the phone?

Maps is great in the US. I used it even in its early days, and it worked fine.
But outside the US, it still needs a lot of catching up to Google Maps (and even Google Maps is not entirely great either).

I am so happy that I am able to "delete" Apple Maps, Google Maps with offline cached areas is the best right now....

So...looks like Apple added the correct onramp...but still has one turning left across the road instead of actually using it...
