Agree with this completely. I will be watching the Apple event just like always do, however i think they will spend the majority of the time talking about the iPhone 12, it's new design (not really new if they are going back to looking like the 4 and 5), 5G will probably get a mention (even tho like you say we don't have it here in the U.K, in fact im lucky if i get fast enough 4G), the power of the A14 chip (even tho they mentioned it last month with the iPad Air 4 update) and the cameras.

I'm expecting to be underwhelmed by this event, i was looking forward to the AirPods Studio but the latest leaks from Jon Prosser have squashed that.
Same here - not impressed by the new iPhone - 11 Pro Max here....I only upgraded from my X to the 11 pro Max b/c I missed the bigger screen and the camera was awesome (and I was going on a once in a lifetime vacation and wanted the camera).....since I've cancelled 2 vacations this year and I did upgrade to the new AW I will skip it. I must admit I will be looking for some HomePod minis and I really really wanted to see the AirPods Studio too.... :(

Yep, I also have the 11 Pro Max and won't be upgrading this year. I'm disappointed to say the least. I really wanted to see the AirPods Studio and I think it would of made more sense for Apple to have announced them alongside the iPhone. Why this hasn't happened I don't know, surely they won't announce them alongside Mac's at next months event.

I was thinking about getting a plain iPhone 12 thinking it would be "somewhat affordable" looking back XR/11 but I kinda noped the f*ck out after looking at those prices (EU).

909€ for the 12 means it will be 100€ more expensive than the 11, with the same storage.

They knew where to twist the knife (non Pro peasants) because the 12 Pro hasn't gone up in price, in fact they cost the same as last year's model and have double the storage.

I have the 11 Pro and won't be upgrading. I upgraded last year from the 8, so that was a huge upgrade to me. I'm happy with the big jump in camera and night mode - the 12 this year seems very incremental for someone with an 11. For me, 5G was the only sell and I'm happy waiting another year for that, especially since I'm work-from-home all the time now and on WiFi pretty much all of the time so the appeal of 5G isn't as strong.

Unless I missed something, the Pro is made exclusively for professional photographers/video producers and for those who like shiny steel. The real-life examples Apple used to demonstrate the Pro were simply unrelatable - I don't foresee myself in a dune buggy filming a herd of thundering horses or improving a lean 6 sigma project by using LIDAR renderings.

As someone with an iPhone 6s, I'll be getting one of the iPhone 12 models. I'm neutral about the new physical design. I like the magnetic cases that won't make you feel like you're splitting your phone in half to remove. The performance improvements are very impressive (and not just from a 6s to 12 perspective). The camera, even without the Pro improvements, is better than I expected and is of course leaps and bounds ahead of my 6s.

On the flip side, I don't like the notch, I will dearly miss Touch ID (and yes, my beloved home button), and I will be one of those few iPhone users who will need to purchase lightening earpods because my 6s has the headphone jack. However, the drastic improvements elsewhere outweigh these concerns and 5 years is long enough to keep a iPhone.

I think this will be a rare 1 year upgrade for me as 120hz screens and a hopefully minimized or eliminated notch will be coming next year.

Not this year. I wish I didn't upgrade to the 11 Pro last year, just so I can get a 12 or 12 mini this year. I wanted an OLED device and haven't had much use for the telephoto so I wouldn't miss it.

Pretty disappointing release.. Only difference between regular and Pro models is material for frame and camera/video system...
The gap between the Pro and non-Pro certainly seems to have closed yet again this year. I thought it was an exciting release for those of us with older iPhones and fancying the 12/12 Mini. If I was an 11 Pro owner then it seems to be a very minimal upgrade and personally I wouldn’t bother. I’m liking that the 12 comes in dark blue and may break the cycle of always having black iPhones this year.

I have an XS Max and had planned on upgrading, but after todays announcements I've decided to sit back another year. I'm not a photographer so I'm not really seeing any other benefits for me. Had they moved to 120hz or put the finger print back in like they did on the Air then I'd have probably gone for it. For now I will sit and continue to enjoy my paid off phone, lol.

OK so the event was slightly underwhelming but we knew what we were getting. Honestly I think the flat edges look good. And it’s thinner? But I am sort of bewildered by something. Did it appear that we have gone back to a glass finish on the back? it didn’t look matte to me. All in all I will wait for reviews and teardowns to see if I’ll make a jump. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the GOLD looks! So iPhone 12 pro max in gold would be the one for me. But I want to see what the actual battery size is, the battery life, verify they’re using Qualcomm modems etc etc

Same. So many questions and we won't know unless APPLE gives us that info or until we get a tear down come mid November.

So, with the launch of 12 mini and 12, along with 12 Pro, are there any members who suddenly became unhappy with their devices? :D

nope 3 year cycle for me, don't know what to really think about the 5G map in the Dallas area, still needs another year to get more solid i think. 6S,XR,13?

For the first time I am thinking it's not worth the upgrade. My 11 Pro Max fits the bill in all areas and I can't see dropping $1250 for a camera upgrade.

Even before the keynote I’m unhappy with my XS Max. The No service or 1 bars is annoying so I’m hoping the 12 Pro Max have the Qualcomm modem back in it.

Unless you can sell your current phone for $800-$900 Then It won’t be 1250

Up to $500 for your 11 Pro Max. But, I'm not upgrading either.

The 12 is over priced imo has gone up $150, 12 pro has dropped $50 and you also get 128gb, for extra $350aud here 12 pro is better value, no way i'd buy the 12 with that difference.
