I have an iPhone 11 Pro and if I upgrade this year I am just being an absolute mug. The design changes aren't exciting anymore like they used to be in the early days and 5G in the UK is pretty worthless right now, in fact its not great worldwide and is just not needed. The 4G speeds I get are more than fast enough, I navigate to a webpage, it loads instantly, what more do I need from such a small device?

If you believe the rumours Apple removed the charger and EarPods as 5G is more expensive, so you are losing things out of the box for something you don't need, and for many people will not even be used potentially until the iPhone 13 or beyond.

Nah its a hard pass from me, especially as I have just bought a Series 6 SS with SS link bracelet. I think I have spent enough :D

Agree with this completely. I will be watching the Apple event just like always do, however i think they will spend the majority of the time talking about the iPhone 12, it's new design (not really new if they are going back to looking like the 4 and 5), 5G will probably get a mention (even tho like you say we don't have it here in the U.K, in fact im lucky if i get fast enough 4G), the power of the A14 chip (even tho they mentioned it last month with the iPad Air 4 update) and the cameras.

I'm expecting to be underwhelmed by this event, i was looking forward to the AirPods Studio but the latest leaks from Jon Prosser have squashed that.

AirTags are apparently delayed to next year too which I was looking forward to and would have bought as soon as they were available.

My wife has the iPhone X and I could make an excuse to myself that I want to hand my 11 Pro to her, but she doesn't care and the X is perfectly fine. The truth would be that I'd literally be throwing 1K away.

I would imagine it would be. The 8+ has an awesome battery and every iPhone since has seen improvements in that department.

Some leakers have said that we should expect at least an 1 hour battery life increase for the Pro Models. As seen in internal tests, the 5.4" iPhone will perform worse than the current iPhone 11, which is expected because of its form factor.

Only a few hours to go before the official word.

From what I read upgrading this year depends on if your on an older iPhone (XS or older) and if the redesign and 5G, and the lidar scanner on the camera, or the smaller form factor excites you to take the plunge. Since I have an 11 pro max the only real feature that has my interest in the lidar scanner on the camera. The rest of the stuff seems minor. I can wait til fall 2021.

I’m not interested in the Mini or the Pro’s so hopefully the 12 is a bit of an improvement on the 11. We’ll soon see!

The only reason I'd upgrade is so I can give my mother my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Unless someone can convince me another iPhone model. I just want her to have iMessage and FaceTime because she's about to be a first time grandmother.

Congratulations to your family. There’s nothing like a new baby and new iPhone.

I usually buy the "new design" iPhones every other year, skipping the "S"-versions.

But going from iPhone 11 to iPhone 12 after 1 year is a big NOPE.
At the same time, I doubt we see a new design next year, just an upgraded S version of 12.. meaning my 11 would go on for 3 years... So.. guess im at Maybe

There will be a level at which an upgrade will be great, but as I have an 11 pro there is no point. I like my military green iPhone and it's perfect for me right now. We don't have 5G here and there's nothing that stands out on the new one that would persuade me to throw £500 away this year on the swap.

I also find it ridiculous that they are selling an iPhone 5 design as new. Some fools will swallow anything.
