Can you imagine if the new phones suffer from antenna-gate? LOL
After iPhone 4 antenna-gate, I would never expect this to happen again. Apple likely learned it's lesson and how to improve it's testing.

I'd be more worried about something else going wrong such as the magnets falling out of place and rattling around inside or the ceramic shield actually being very fragile. All unlikely but with such complex hardware, it's really a blessing there has never been a major recall on an iPhone.

I am on the fence this year. I mean, 5G is great and all, but where I live, it is still in the infant stage and still on trial. But the upgrades doesn’t really improve the way I use my current iPhone, the 11 Pro Max.

Yeah, 5G isn’t widely available in my area yet. The only reason I’d upgrade is due to the small form factor on the mini and wanting to go to 128GB. Otherwise, my 11 pro is still a beast. I may see if there are any Black Friday or Christmas deals on them or waiting until early January to upgrade. I’d do the AT&T offer, but of course they suck You into keeping the phone for 30 months.

I like the iPhone 12 mini and that would be what i look to upgrade too however i only upgraded back in April while i can afford to buy a new phone it would really depend on the trade in value of my current SE 2020 model otherwise its hard to justify getting a new phone

I already have an SE 2020. I won’t be upgrading for probably a few years. As phones don’t need upgraded every year like everyone seems to think.

Aside from that, they still have ignored our requests for touchID. Which is a prerequisite for me personally. There is no reason they can’t put a sensor under the screen, or on the power button like many android phones, and their own iPad.

If I was going to try to justify the £/$1,000 price tag on the 12 Pro, it would be the camera array. My XR doesn't have any optical zoom and the photo quality could be a lot better. I rarely want to drag around my DSLR, so in the context of it being a device that I use many hours a day + a pretty damn good camera, the price tag is more digestable.

Even before the keynote I’m unhappy with my XS Max. The No service or 1 bars is annoying so I’m hoping the 12 Pro Max have the Qualcomm modem back in it.

Sorry to say that's not the phone, it's your carrier. From what I have seen, you're switching carriers right?

Yeah, that bad signal isn't the phone hun. XS Max here and full bars everywhere I go. Had AT&T before and at home, no signal, after moving back to Verizon, no issues what so ever.

Probably stay with my iPhoneX for another year. Wanted to upgrade, but there’s nothing truly compelling bringing me across. Screen is basically the same, my phone is still plenty fast, cameras are good enough.

Doing the deprecation math - I could pay $80 to use my IPX this year, or spend $450 for the first year of a pro max. Money’s not an issue, but, IMO, I’m not getting $450 worth of value from the jump right now. I’ll wait for a more compelling upgrade before taking the first year cost hit. Better for the environment also.

You're throwing the word depressing around like it's causing you to be emotional. You have 3 options; replace your battery (I'd suggest this route), buy SE 2020, or buy the phone you want and put whatever you had saved towards it.

But, I hope whatever you're going through that you can overcome it.
Thanks. Stages of grief. I'll get to acceptance soon.

I just checked my account for my SE2020 if I wanted to upgrade to the 12 Pro Max through Verizon and you are right about paying the device off before upgrading. I don’t want to lose out on the $16.66 in bill credits that I receive, so I have to pay outright with Apple even if I didn’t want to. I hope your financial situation changes and your are able to get the 12 Mini.
Thank you

It's looking like no up new phone this year 🤷‍♂️ Have to learn to stop worrying and love the 7 bomb.

So, you might be able to find some good deals before Christmas. A lot of stores throw in things like $50 gift cards that you could use to buy someone a present, thus breaking even with your desired price point. So you might have more options that you think. You just will have to waint until next month to see them.
Thanks.

I was really hoping to get a first run mini with Samsung screens and avoid the BOE fail screens, but who knows if BOE is already in the mix, negating my worry completely. If I spend any money a new phone it's going through the return roulette until I get a screen that is perfect. No way I'm spending lots of money for a screen with defects.

So this is my upgrade year and I wanted to replace my X and I will not be upgrading... at least not to an iPhone. Been looking at the rumours with growing disappointment and today I ordered... the Note 20 Ultra. Will be making this switch and we will se how it goes.

The 12 is a very iterative update to me and besides, no TouchID in the times of constantly wearing masks as well as no 120Hz screen is too much of a letdown to accept for this price, while I got a great deal for the Note. I am sure I will go back to the iPhone at some point, but for now that’s it.

same here. I have an X and it works perfectly fine. Just. Ot sure about ios14 yet. Still on 13.
x is still fast and 5g isnt fully rolled out yet so iphone 13 looks like better option. Hopefully the 13 will give you 128gb as standard. The x was 64gb standard and so is the 12 which is lunacy. I’ll wait another year

I was definitely not going to upgrade this year, but now I’m kind of on the fence, 5G wasn’t a big factor until Verizon announced their Nationwide 5G (not ultra wide band), and I’m really about the mag safe accessories, I always use an Apple case, so this is a nice thing. I think the only thing is price, I’m in the market to change my phone # due to moving next year, so getting a new # and new customer pricing could have its advantage. I have an iPhone X I would trade in, so now i have to see what offer I can get.........and I was perfectly content with not upgrading this year....lol.

So I am in IUP program. I am actually torn a bit, I usually upgrade every year. I started doing so after I paid off my iPhone 7 Plus and realized whether I use the IUP program to upgrade every year or every two years it doesn't matter as I will always be paying Apple so I figured that I would just upgrade every year. I a debating keeping my iPhone 11 this year and just waiting but I know I will get a new one next year, hard choice though I am considering going back to the Pro model.

After thinking on it more and realizing I had fallen into the hype after watching the event. I think I will have to skip this year. The new camera features and the new blue color are the only thing that really excite me about the iPhone 12. I would love to have the lidar and Dolby Vision recording on my phone but I can't really justify it (as much as I want too lol).

I already upgraded to the Apple Watch series 6, and I am buying a PlayStation 5 in November, and maybe an ipad during Christmas. So I think that will be enough money spent on tech for a while. Will definitely upgrade to the iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 S next year though. Team 11 Pro Max users unite!!!! LOL

Well don't you have your big boy underpants on today 😂 thanks I needed a laugh.

the thread is "anyone not upgrading this year". Be happy I didn't start a whole new thread to whine about poor old me 😂

Come on you two. Lets keep the peace here. iphones can be expensive and it's no need to shame people. I am certainly not rich but I am luckily enough to be able to afford tech (generally speaking lol). But times are tough right now (pandemic and everything) and there is no shame not upgrading a phone when bigger things are happening.

I used to upgrade every year to the latest iPhone, but have since dropped it to bi-yearly. I'm still on an XS Max so will be getting the 12 Pro Max (probably in blue) this year.

Definitely understand! If I wasn't getting a ps5 in November then I probably would be getting the iPhone 12 pro max ha.

No it’s the phone because I have had a few spots of no service with Verizon as well, it’s just not as bad.
