Your post is written as if Samsung ZERO chance of impressing you or even remotely getting you interested. Good thing there's a choice for you and everyone else though.

It looks like someone eat a bunch of plastic and crapped out a phone. Not only that but let's see how many tech blogs complain about Samsung using the same design iteration as the last one. The difference is the iPhone actually looks good and Samsungs looks like the designer had a nightmare about plastic, woke up and noted his nightmare and then made the phone based on it. Now the specs do look great but as I've seen with my own eyes and used with my own hands, they don't matter. The overall experience leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Make the device bigger so the battery can increase to cope with the over clocked CPU which Android needs to operate and still lags.

Keep the awful design which is neither good looking or ergonomic.

Introduce gimmicks that will be played with for 5 minutes out of the box and for forgot about.

And last of all, host the most cringeworthy product unveil Ive ever witnessed in my entire life. I feel violated after that.

That was a very polished and impressive presentation and a refreshing change from the norm. I think a lot of us went into the presentation not expecting very much and I think afterwards it left us with a pretty good first impression of the new handset. While nothing about it is shocking or amazing, it introduced a lot of new features that the average user will find very useful and at the end of the day, this is what matters most.

Will it be enough to cause some people to switch? Absolutely. I think a lot, actually..

Great job, Samsung. Keep up the good work! http://cdn.macrumors.com/vb/images/icons/icon14.gif

So the new sign-ups are trolling for Samsung. Guess the marketing agencies are signed up to hit the boards for some FUD.

You need that kind of power to run an 8 core CPU. Seriously, there is such as thing as too much CPU. Eventually it will make sense, but I'm not sure early 2013 is it.

I don't think you get the purpose of cortex a7 cores. Cortex a7 is designed for the specific purpose to provide the performance of cortex a9 with significantly less power draw. Those cores are used when the a15 cores are not in use. It will drain less battery than the old exynos quad which was pretty damn efficient. They did this because a15 is extremely fast (much faster than cortex a9, snapdragon s4, and the apple a6). It has a higher power envelope so the extra a7 companion cores are added to lower power consumption. When I say a15 is faster, Its not just a little faster. It has more than twice the integer performance of the a6x at the same clock rate. And thats the dual core version in the nexus 10. This phone has a quad core.

As far as I am concerned - don't care too much about the specs - it's about functionality.

Megapixels is meaningless. Does it take good pictures.
Cores is meaningless - does it run smoothly.
Battery size is meaningless - will it run for a long time
Screen resolution is meaningless - how does it LOOK

Ok - the specs aren't really "meaningless" - but I hope people get my point. It's about what the phone does - not what it takes to do it. 2 cores or 8 cores. Who cares?

I honestly believe you work for Samsung trying to make Apple fans look ridiculous. See how that works?

Holding out for the iPhone 6, bc the 5S is just a bump, I would prefer the larger screen, if that is not in next years phone I will be out of the iPhone game for sure, but next year we will see....

While you're right that text will look great at those PPI numbers, you have to factor in that you'd hold a phone a lot closer than your iPad.

Here's a good link describing some of the relative distance issues:

http://www.displaymate.com/iPad_ShootOut_1.htm

To be honest with you at equal distance I notice hardly any difference between the iphone and ipad retina. May well be the same with the S4 but i guess we'll have to wait and see.

So this also means that every time I stick it in my pocket it activates the screen?

Can it really tell the difference between a finger and a penis? Can I cock-dial? That's a skill to work on.

Its called a proximity sensor and the fact that the device is in standby when you put it in your pocket.

Looked quite good, a few features seem stupid annoying gimmicks:

When you're watching a video, if you turn your head to the side it pauses.

The air touch seems pointless really.. you might hover your hand over the phone and switch apps accidentally (also you would look like a **** doing it)

Its not pentile. Get your facts straight, Its rgb. This screen was demoed at ces and they specifically mentioned it is not pentile.

SAMOLED - still fail.

And again, you can cram the specs in as much as you like but when you actually use the phone it doesn't do what it says. Samsung have no focus. They cram specs in, introduce gimmiks and have no quality control. This isn't a bad phone by a long shot but it certainly didn't have any wow factor. The HTC One is the best Android phone on the market in my opinion.

Look at his/her post history. I've been here for over three years with thousands of posts. This person has only just signed up and is casting doubt on Apple products in all the posts and then has just copypasta a response that looks like its straight out of a marketing handbook with buzzwords and big adjectives.

No. I am never leaving the iPhone.

Android is a piece of junk software in my perspective. Its made purely by geeks.

It wil never reach the level of refinement and good taste such as iOS. Its just a different philosophy not a matter of technology.

I see it like this, was anything shown that is a must have to such an extent that I would give up all my iOS apps, integration, refinement. Especially with my jailbreak in place.

Ask me in 2 months. Right now, I'm leaning no. The AMOLED screen is always a big issue for me. Especially if it is the same dreck as the GS3.

just wanted to share with you all.. give the following apps a try. i think they will come handy.

All are available on Google Play store. Swype keyboard can be downloaded from its website. all are free apps.

gesture search - hand gesture universal search. indexes everything on phone, contacts, apps, music.

airdroid - perform 90% of tasks using wifi. transfer files, send/receive messages, app management etc. any computer through Opera, Chrome, Firefox or IE etc.

mysms - send/receive sms through a website even when the phone is not within reach. the only requirement is the phone must be on and have signal. really handy in offfice or school environment.

SWYPE keyboard - type really fast with one finger without lifting.

The screen is 1080p - by default videos will look better. Not sure why people underplay the specs when it comes to something like the screen.

You obviously haven't. If your calling it junk, then your drunk; go home! Did you just watch the s4 keynote.... it was revolutionary.... something you icrap users haven't seen in years....

You trash his bias and then you call people using iOS icrap users. How does that make you any better than him?

The raving lunatic fans on both sides reflect very poorly on themselves, not the platforms.
