problems with apn settings

I managed to unlock a CDMA Verizon Iphone 4S with the gevey sim. I am currently using redpocket, I have data, and I have voice. I have tether me installed as well as the tether me apn settings. But now my problem is that I am unable to send or receive mms. And the reason I am unable to do so is because for some reason even though I manually change the APN settings on my iphone to what it should be for me to receive MMS it automatically changes to vodaphone username. This is all under "cellular data Network" If the phone reboots It changes everything. Is there something I am missing? What else can I do to edit the APN settings without loosing upon reboot? Any ideas? By the way, RedPocket is an ATT mvno.

Ok, I got my C Spire aka cspire 4s 5.1.1 working with Straight Talk!

Here's how I did it:

Restored iphone to factory
Jailbroke with Absinthe
With Wifi turned on, went to unlockit.co.nz and installed a custom APN for Straight talk through the 4s safari browser.
Installed Furiousmod through Cydia
Registered my applenberry Gevey Sim inside Furiousmod

Installed ifunbox on my mac. It works the same for Windows.

Plug iphone 4s into computer, open ifunbox.
under var/wireless/library the only carrier bundle was carrier_310CSC_20404_12.0.plist <- Delete this file.

then went to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/iPhone
and removed folder zeppelin_us.bundle

then deleted 310CSC folder in the same directory (/System/Library/Carrier Bundles/iPhone)

inserted gevey ultra S from applenberry with the activator SIM and used the auto setting for verizon which pops up when you insert the SIM. Removed, put my sim in with Gevey which showed HOME on the reception bar for a split second, then went back to searching. then it said att, then home again.

So now onto imessage/facetime. This one is simple! Use a file editor, like ifile in cydia, and go to the carrier.plist file located at /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/iPhone/CarrierLab.bundle.

Scroll down this plist for a bit, until you see a +44 number just below the key PhoneNumberRegistrationGatewayAddress.

Kill this entire number, and enter 28818773 instead.

Reboot phone and it will work. Just tested with facetime app on my mac because I have no friends.

the sim seemed to be a little wonky at first, i.e. signal bars moving up and down often. rebooted, a few minutes later I have 4G and SMS. I do not have MMS, but I have web/sms/app store/siri.

I'm nots sure if any of that matters. I think resetting the gevey sim to Sprint is what made it work for you. The carrier bundles folder deletion wasn't necessary on 5.0.1, and the only difference I think it makes is that the gevey activation code will not show up unless you delete them in 5.1.1. WIthout the gevey activation code you can't unlock the baseband via furiousmod.

Well, that may be. But the reset SIM worked for me and a selected sprint in the very beginning of the me starting all this, and various times when trying later on. And even then my unlock still wouldn't work. As i began deleting these carrier bundles that i mentioned, the activation menu stopped popping up, and it would accept my AT&T SIM and TMO SIM with full 3G and working SMS MMS, calling, receiving calls etc.

I think my situation was different then your's and everyone elses in the thread, because it was still directly tied to a Sprint account that someone hadnt paid their bills on.

for the whoever said that deleting those extre bundles had no effect on my unlock. ^^^ that guy did the same thing i did and was able to unlock his as well, and didn't have half the problems you all ran into with your methods. ie. Getting calls to work, getting sms to work, and data..

I think I've followed most of the steps correctly, but Sprint is not an option when I select my carrier. Has anyone else had this problem?

It looks like a GSM only gevey ultra s, as Verizon is not in the list either. I would buy a CDMA gevey ultra s directly from applenberry.

2 weeks ago I got my Gevey S working on a Sprint 4S 5.1.1 with the 2.0.12 baseband and everything was fine but this morning I wakeup and notice I was getting no connection to my phone via wifi. I restarted and there came the activation screen. Do I have to RESTORE this phone in order to get this working AGAIN!? This is so irritated has there been a permanent fix yet or has applenberry at least acknowledged that 5.1.1 isn't stable? Please help!

Hey anybody figured out a why to get out the activation loop when trying to unlock a sprint iPhone on to tmobile? I know I have the right sim because I bought it from applesnberry. It goes throu all the steps then I get the apple and it ask for activation. I did the whole voice memo trick and the left corner say t-mobile but with no bars and waiting for activation in the background. Has anybody else had this problem or know a solution to fix it?? Thanks!!

I've had that happen before, and just had to restore and follow the steps described earlier. It should not ever go to the activation screen, it seems some people have bypassed it, but if you follow the steps right you should be connected to t-mobile without ever activating it.

I've unlocked 6 different sprints on 5.1.1 for a friend (all for t-mobile), and most worked just fine, a few I had to re-try and it worked fine on the second try. Just restore, activate through itunes if prompted, jailbreak, delete carrier bundles, install furiousmod, make sure furious is activated and both options are ON, and then try your t-mobile sim.

Ok I'm still in the loop after those steps. Dose it matter I'm trying to us a simple mobile chip? I know they piggy back off tmobile for iPhones but does it not work as while with the gerry?

Have you guys try unlock using R-Sim V? I have no luck to unlock my verizon 4s using R-SIM V. :(

I am having a problem that it seems like others are having. I am using this exact method for the unlock and I have a 4s on 5.1.1 was a verizon phone and trying to get t-mobile PAYG (pay as you go) to work but I can't get all the features to work.

Right now it seems like I have to choose between having data or sms. Trying to get both of them has been my struggle. I can make and receive calls fine and voicemail is working. Has anyone found a reliable solution to this?

The "activation required" loops used to be a pain in the ass for me, but nowadays I don't encounter them. Just make sure you activate the iPhone through iTunes and not through iPhone itself. I know this, because the problem stopped ever since I started using it.

The thing that bothers me the most is text massage on Verizon iPhones. Every time I reboot the iPhone the Apn settings turns into vodafone setting and fills the entire sections with user name/password and vodafone information, and it has been struggle to remove them. I have managed to get rid of them multiple times, only for them to re-appear out of nowhere

I would try installing the APN via the website unlockit.co.nz . Just select t-mobile and let it install the settings from your iPhone. With that installed I think both texts and data would work.

Its funny, I'm using t-mobile, and I got my data working by installing the profile from unlockit.co.nz. When I reset the phone, my APN data settings revert to Vodafone, but for some reason my data still works as if it was t-mobile, so I stopped worrying about trying to change it back to t-mobile's settings. I don't know if unlockit.co.nz overrides it or what.

Well this morning I tried send a text and no go (this is without data working either) after I could not get the sms to work I tried the suggestion a couple posts up about deleting some of the things in carrier bundles and wireless folders with no go, still was not able to get SMS to work.

Then I was able to successfully install the data packet via the website like you sent me however still no luck with SMS.

Sorry for all the posts, just want to keep people updated if they are having the same problem as me.

I was also getting the activation loop, however once I deleted the carrier bundles folder, I know longer get the loop when I restart the iPhone.

Ok just got everything working. Here is what I did, I will keep everyone posted if anything changes or if data or sms fails again.

1. First what I did is removed the unlockit.co.nz preference, as I was getting data but no sms.

2. Turned off cellular data and data roaming in settings.

3. Restarted iphone, and sent a sms. SUCCESS!

4. Then went to the unlockit.co.nz (since I am unlocking using tmobile PAYG) I selected the second t-mobile option. Installed the APN settings and turned on cellular data and roaming. Data SUCCESSFULLY WORKS!

So so far everything seems to work except for MMS.

Help with visual voicemail on unlocked sprint iPhone 4s

Hello, does anyone know what needs to be edited to get visual voicemail to work on a sprint iPhone 4s that's unlocked to work on AT&T? Any help will be appreciated. Debra1513 to fix mms search this on you tube "Fix iMessage FaceTime unknown phone number". Look at the very first video by RilesPro, very easy fix and works great. By the way is your visual voicemail working. I can't get mine to work.

Thank you.

I have a sprint iPhone 4s 5.1.1. It's jailbroken with absinthe and I'm currently using straight talk. I also tried gevey but after two different turbo sims not working and also the phone trying to activate, I went with r-sim which I found on eBay. I received in mail. Installed two repositories in cydia and after putting in r-sim with my straight talk sim, it picked up full signal after about 2 minutes. Has worked near perfect
Since. I can also eject sim and put back in and phone will pick up service pretty quick.

Sprint iPhone 4s

I can't get my iPhone 4s to work on Red Pocket. I have jailbroken it using Absinthe and tried using the R-Sim V. When I put my sim card and the r-sim in my phone I get the red pocket logo and service for about 30 seconds and then I lose service. If I have just my sim card in the phone I get bars but no service. Can anyone help I have been messing with this for a few days now and no luck. It doesn't seem like there is much out there for information on unlocking Sprint iPhone's

I having trouble with my iphone 4s verizon set up with gevey sim to use with tmobile. The phone is jailbroken with cydia 1.1.6, in packages it has installed AppSync for !OS 5.0+--BigBoss Icon set--Hackulous Resources--Installous 5--Mobile Substrate--Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 untethered--Source GUI--Substrate Safe Mode--and FuriousMod-iphone4s !OS 5.1.1. I am not a phone tech type of person by any means however and I cant seem to get the Iphone 4s to get service. At the top-left it says No Service. Also a window keeps popping up everytime i insert my tmobile sim card ( not a micro sim but its cut).. The sim card is slightly lose in the sim tray, can that be the reason its not working??

First off, I'm no expert. I found a Verizon iPhone 4s with a bad esn. I used a gevey ultra s with the jailbreak from absinthe. Activation of the phone does not matter. Take out the sim tray, connect to computer, use absinthe to unlock, then install furious mod using a wifi connection, then push gevey sim in with white blank sim card you get with your gevey, choose Verizon USA, then within 10 seconds eject sim tray and replace that sim card with your tmobile sim card. Reboot your phone, eject sim tray , do w.e you need to find your register Id for gevey. Input that and wait for tmobile service. Reboot if necessary.

Now the real reason I'm posting... To get mms and fix your SMS use the leimobile source and install the tmobile fix.

That should fix your SMS sending them all to +12063130004 instead of +7

Now for mms, install ifile from cydia and open that beast up. Use wifi cause 2g is soooo slow. Navigate to system, library, carrier bundles, iPhone, Vodafone_nl.bundle. Open it and select carrier.plist, then edit using property list viewer, select apns then open all the apns and edit them to epc.tmobile.com
Delete username and passwords, also change the type mask to zero. Then go back to mms and change the settings there to the tmobile ones, ima try to post a pic. And change the carrier name to tmobile.

The only step I can't seem to find or fix is adding in epc.tmobile.com to the apn in cellular data network under mms, however at least you don't have to change the rest of the mms settings everytime you turn off your phone, just go to settings, general, network, cellular data network and add in under apn in mms "epc.tmobile.com".

This will give you mms and SMS woo hoooo post for questions ...

----------

This is for 5.1.1 baseband 2.0.12

----------

I found the mms settings here in a post. https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-discussion?content=%2Fapi%2Fcore%2Fv1%2Fdiscussions%2F9292

When you enter the mms setting inside the vodaphone.nl.bundle, you will edit a few of the settings like the ip address, the max MSG size, the website it's something like mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com,

Good luck

I have sucessfully unlocked my Verizon ip4s to tmobile using Gevey ultra S. The problem that I have is weak signal, one or two bars, and sometimes no service. Does anyone have similar problem and how do you go about solving it? Thank you for all ya help.
