Man, I can't wait to hear more about the Nexus 2012 device(s).

Please don't let it be from Moto or Sony or LG. At this point, I'm actually rooting for Samsung. HTC would be a distant second choice.

Sony has potential dude, I know they can do it.

Personally I don't want them to go for 1 manufacturer, I REALLY hope (if they don't do as rumors suggest, 5 different OEMs) is build a phone ala iphone style,

Samsung builds the phone for example.
LG or Sony or Sammy screen
Sony camera
A15 chip whoever they want to build that.
etc.

This would be a awesome device cause I think google don't hold back.

Are you kidding

I think he is :)

I broke the screen on my international unlocked GS3 yesterday and just ordred another one today but 32GB this time. I love this phone so much and I can't stand using my old 4S. The prediction on it is terrible compared to SwiftKey!

Edit: the only thing I'm concerned about is whether to stick to TouchWiz or go back to CM9. When I got my first GS3 I rooted and flashed AOKP right when I got home so I didn't really get to experience TouchWiz. The only thing I know I hate about it is the lock screen style.

Not sure what you mean. Chrome is faster than the stock browser and I dont use the stock browser. And i dont have a 4S but everything ive see, the S3 is faster.

Google has never had the Nexus devices be top of the line. They were always developer phones so they didnt get the best specs. Typically have had no micro SD slot and a lessor camera.

Im hoping that changes since it has been a popular phone and ive read it will have similar specs to the GS3 which includes a MicroSD slot which imo would be a nice upgrade for the next Nexus.

Are you kidding?

Whats to worry about? For me, im not gettng an iPhone so i dont care when or what comes out. The screen is still too small and it lacks many things my GS3 can do.

You said it is getting superior Maps? LOL, it wont be close to Google Maps and it isnt getting Google Now. Its getting Google search for why i dont know since it has Siri. Doubt it gets NFC with the metal back.

Jelly Bean is not a major update. It is an extension of ICS and it is a very good extension packed with a ton of better notifications and such.
Please tell me this is a sarcastic post!

Errr... Yes... I was being sarcastic........ that's why I used "" for "superior" maps... meaning they are not superior at all, but rather poor instead...

Wow. I though it was pretty clear it was a sarcastic post... I couldn't make it more sarcastic if I wanted!

And I was saying JB is way better than iOS 6...

Do people really don't get my sarcasm?

You really need to not take stuff like this to the heart. It's a phone man lol. Calm down and go outside once in a while. Why in the world are you so offended?? it's just someone's opinion

It's a phone??? Are you being serious?? It's more than a phone man! We are talking serious stuff here, don't you see?

A phone!? It's the iPhone dude! The iPhone! The best thing that's ever happened!

.........

For anyone who doesn't get it... this is sarcasm!

Please dude... I don't even care anymore about my football team, so why in the world would I care about a stupid phone??

You offended me sir! I expect an apology!

I'm so so worried (SARCASM) the new iPhone is coming out next week...

Jelly Bean is not a good enough update. We are still way way behind iOS (SARCASM) and the iPhone. I mean, yes, we are getting offline voice dictation for EVERY language (AN AWESOME FEATURE I REALLY WANTED. SO I USED CAPS TO SHOW ITS A GOOD FEATURE), but that's not useful at all (SARCASM). IPhone users are getting much much better stuff (SARCASM. THAT'S WHY I REPEATED THE WORD MUCH!), like facetime over 3G, reject calls with sms, "superior" maps (is it a beta like siri was last year?) (SARCASM), redesign app store app (SARCASM), etc.

I'm kind of worried, seriously (SARCASM. SERIOUSLY). Looks like Apple is going to allow the new Google voice search app in the app store sometime next year probably... (AGAIN,SARCASM)

Google now, Google voice search, faster OS (it's actually faster than iOS opening and closing apps for example), sharing pictures and videos over NFC, better notifications, offline Google maps, etc. Looks like we are in trouble (SARCASM).

Check out the ().

Is it now clear?

Wow, some people find it really hard to spot sarcasm.

Indeed, my friend. Indeed.

I have both the galaxy s3 and the iPhone 4s and have run chrome, stock browser, dolphin, and none are as fast side by side as the 4s which is unlocked. It makes zero sense. Apps load slower on average on the galaxy s3 as well. I like the s3 it is just annoying is still slower on the browsers. the apps Google has less to no control over.

I've tried flashing multiple roms. No luck.

You must be on crack to think the 800mhz a5 is faster than 1500 mhz snapdragon s4.

Well I'm sitting here with them both. ran multiple rooted Rom's and no matter what browser I use it runs at best equal to the 4s. I prefer the s3 but as you point out one should have to be on crack for the s3 to be slower but it just is. Google some YouTube videos of side by side ccomparisons.

Just for the hell of it, I pulled up YouTube on my Chrome browser (using my home wifi, since iphone is dreadfully slow on 3g) and randomly picked 3 tech videos. I picked a 3 minute video called "Samsung Galaxy S3 C-pen Review", then a 5 minute video called "Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 First impressions" and finally a 15 minute video called "Jelly Bean Review on Nexus 7"

Times were 2.7 seconds, 3.2 seconds and 4.1 seconds respectively, and that was to load and start playing. None of the videos were cached, since I rarely use YouTube. I have an iPhone 4 as well (not a 4S) and let's just say the iphone wasn't even close, using Safari of course.

So unless the 4S is about 20 seconds faster loading YouTube videos, I think you have issues with your S3.

That said, if I just click on the video from the search screen and set to not auto play, it takes less than half a second from me hitting the video play button to the video playing. I had to clear my cache and redo it this way since this is how the iphone does it. I forgot YouTube is a Google product, so chrome must be scripted for it.

Sorry not talking about YouTube videos on the device. Talking mostly about general wb browsing and you can see examples of it on YouTube. It wins occasionally but it should be killing the 4s.

Helps when you use the emoticons, ..though we dont have many, it helps. Words on a screen are kinda hard to determine.

I don't know if the radios in the 4s are different than the 4, or if you have an issue with your S3 or what, but I am not having any slow downloads of Web pages? But I have a pretty fast wifi, so that could be making a difference in load speeds. However, the S3 is rendering each Page much quicker. Again, I am unable to replicate what you are experiencing? Maybe another member with a 4S and S3 will chime in?

You're right, I was thinking software tbh. I don't recall them holding back on some software to save it as a future upgrade.

Or do they?

I was under the impression that they go all out if it has a return. Initially start off with a beta and improve on that if it takes off.

The s3 is definitely quick at rendering. Just maybe 1/2 to sometimes 80-90% of the time the 4s is equal or faster. The nyt website the 4s wins by seconds.

I have 20gbs down and have tried it on 39+ gigs down so it has no effect. Also Hangups on rendering in chrome or the Google browser 5% of the time or so. Frustrating cause I really like the phone.

Not only is it washed out, its linked to eye health problems due to its small size and people squinting at it.

That is correct, very correct indeed not only eye health problems but people suffering from neck pain cause of the awkward positions they get into try using their phones (looking down especially when seated).

I have only had my S3 for 3 days now but I really like the phone. The only thing I miss about my 4s is the camera. Not that the S3 is bad but the 4s's camera really is fantastic.

i just bought the galaxy s3 just yesterday to replace my blackberry 9900 and using it along side with the iphone 4s.. i feel the screen and everything is great on the s3 but the apps are more polished and the camera is way better on the iphone 4s then the s3.

Are you kidding? Android phones have been able to do both for at least 2 years that I know of, and on 4G. This is just like cut, copy, paste, and picture messages....LATE. And certainly not innovative, or even close to new.

Edit: Re-read your post, looks like it may have been sarcasm. If so, let this be an extension of that.

This literally might be the most banal thing I have ever read on this forum.

Lol, you either agree with me or never used the word banal.....I define it as trite, ordinary or common. I doubt you agree the iPhone screen isnt the best thing since sliced bread though....

Regardless of what you are trying to say do I really need to pull up studies about eye strain on mobile devices and how the smaller the screen the worse it is?

I don't have a 4S but my iPad 3 definitely renders web pages noticeably faster than my S3. I do wish the S3 was as fast as the iPad 3 but tablets aren't a fair comparison IMO since their much larger batteries allow them to run faster processors and GPU's. I'm talking about how fast the page renders so it's readable. I couldn't care less how long it takes to load the entire page (that's a useless metric IMO.)

No, I don't have a case on my iPhone. Glass and steel make for a durable and structurally solid device unlike cheap plastic.

Glass is more durable than plastic? Maybe against scratching, but most certainly not more durable against impact damage.

More than 5 of my friends had (but later returned) the GS III from different carriers and even different countries/carriers. All but one of them had loose-fitting buttons, chassis, components, back cover, etc. And every single one of them creaked when they were using it normally (i.e. not specifically trying to find a spot that creaks). Volume buttons and power buttons were hard to press, sometimes loose-fitting. Look at HTC's build quality. Also Xiaomi and Lenovo (yes, they make smartphones but only in China). Another good example is Nokia and BlackBerry. That's quality. Not Samsung plastic crap.

Anecdotal evidence is fun! I know only one other person who has an S3 and he loves it as I do mine (came from an iPhone 4) Sure it's plastic, but I have no issues with build quality. It's nice and light and feels comfortable in the hand. Another benefit is that it doesn't loose cellular signal strength if I hold it wrong.

If you read on a smartphone, then PenTile is horrible. And the colors are disgustingly fake for AMOLED screens. IPS is the gold standard. I'm glad HTC One smartphones have IPS. Many of my friends took their GS II back to the store because they couldn't stand the color inaccuracies. It either looked way too disgusting and/or looked much worse when they take a photo and transfer it to their computer or upload to facebook and realize it's not what they saw on the phone.

Pentile schmentile. I don't care what the display tech is, all I know is that my S3's screen is the nicest looking screen I've ever used on a smartphone/tablet.
It's clear and bright and vibrant with great blacks and an even tone and I find AMOLED much easier on the eyes for reading than LCD, there is far less glare.

It's pretty rich for an Apple proponent to be critical of other brand's screen quality when Apple have such a terrible track record. Their screens may tick all the spec boxes, but the quality control and build quality, in my experience, is terrible. I went through 3 replacement iPhone 3gs before I got one that didn't have a sepia toned screen. My 27inch iMac has a horrible brown tint over the right hand side and bottom (apparently a widespread issue). My new iPad has a brown tint over a large portion of the right hand top part of the screen, also a widespread issue. My wife's new iPhone 4S has a horrible screen, it looks terribly washed out, has poor contrast and has an overall sepia tint, 3 other people in my workplace with recent iPhone 4s have similair dingy looking screens. They may be Retina(tm)but that means nothing when you are shoving cheap screens into a "premium" phone.
