Thanks for that link - glad they finally recognised the issue. Ian - any change on getting those measurements posted? Will be very interesting now to compare different firmware versions since Apple are working on the issue themselves.
Expecting to have them by the end of week, will keep you all in the loop!

I suspect a hardware issue too. Mine where bought on launch day with firmware 2B584, updated the 2B588 and now on 2C54. I haven’t noticed any degradation in anc or sound since the day I got them. Mine work perfectly.

Thats the first I have heard of this... from first firmware to latest with no anc issue or stated difference.

I noticed no particular differences as well. I’ve been through all 3 updates.

I’m talking about anc or calling audio quality: the first is very good, the latter pretty decent.

On other sides the APP still remains buggy as hell (I.e: charge level, red exclamation, and so on).

We are getting a brand new back ordered pair coming in Monday so we will update on hardware and firmware out of box... and this is coming from Best Buy. Hopefully, orig firmware and same hardware so the wife and I can both test them and see where they update to and give a real word 2 person opinion from start to finish on ANC degradation within a hour or however long it takes to update to current broken firmware/hardware failure = )

2B588 is the latest update. 2C54 was pulled by Apple So its no longer available.
This is all rumor at this point correct? Apple has not released anything indicating this. I have been on 2C54 for weeks with no problems. I was on 2B588 and had to replace that pair due to fit test failures. The new pair came, auto-updated to 2C54 and I've had 0 issues.

mine updated to 2c54 and have one odd quirk. When I first connect to my AW5, the volume on the left side is quite low. As soon as I touch the crown to turn it up, they even out. It's happened a couple of times since the update but fortunately always pops back as soon as I adjust volume.

Apple doesn’t announce when it releases new firmware for AirPods either . The reason to believe it’s been pulled is that AirPods Pro are released with 2B588 and no one has received the 2C54 update for quite a while now.

Correct, so it's rumor and an assumption at this point that 2C54 has been pulled due to some issue with noise cancellation. It could have been pulled and that reason may be related to performance. It also may still be available to some or it could've been pulled for a completely different reason that has nothing to do with performance or an observable bug.

Bottom line is it’s not available.

2C54 was pulled. APP have also been in a 30 day window for several weeks now. Order 1/11/20 delivery 2/11/20 etc... Existing inventory is being used for replacement units. Apple stores are receiving 2-3 new pairs roughly each day. There could be several issues. Personally, I think Apple had a QC issue on their hands that required a production reset. Although there may be other issues. 2C54 was half baked as every Apple release over the past few years. For every user without issues there are 2 with issues.

I don’t expect new firmware until we see the 30 day window start to close indicating a production restart. Once new units arrive and we see the version number we will know about hardware.

My APP is on 2C54 and work flawlessly. ANC works great. And the H1 chip in them works consistently quicker than my AP2. They wont update past 2A364 no matter what I try.

Yep I agree totaly. It was reported on Reddit that a user was told by Apple support that Apple had a QC problem so it could be production issue or a hardware issue as well as firmware deficiencies. Fresh order times are still holding at 30 days and have been for several weeks. It will also be interesting to see if there is a hardware refresh and a new model number for people receiving new AirPods

Current version here, also a launch set of APPs. Not a single issue anymore. The old red exclamation issue that people thought was hardware disappeared in the last FWU. Absolute beast earbuds.

Well right out the box brand new from APPLE/Best Buy and current Firmware is 2B588 and Hard. 1.0.0

So its firmware guys... just as crappy ANC (30%sh reduction and almost no difference between transparency and ANC) and no other issues... 100% at least we have 45 days to return these now from today if they don't fix this sooner than later.

Also, this may be our biggest fear coming true... since this shipped with this version anyone who didn't listen to them at launch, in store, or purchasing early will never be happy and will more than likely turn into a legal matter to see revision notes and get corrected... for what we were originally sold on and now outside their window of return. Ehhh...

That impossible, as you would have noticed unless your not very picky or hearing issues etc. If you put them in with no music playing you couldn’t hear people taking around you or snapping a finger in the store at launch with original firmware.
Now it’s around 30sh percent less and crazy noticeable. There is also almost 0 difference between anc and transparency which prior was drastic.
This is the third pair and the second update ruined it and the third didn’t fix it and pulled by Apple and was stated in their Euro Tech Note.

It’s definitely an issue and not hardware related.

bud i use them daily at the gym and fly twice a month to BC. when i go noise cancelling it’s solid. it has to be nuclear noise for me to hear.

my ear seals perfectly with the med tips. as for your comment on no difference with anc vs transparency that’s total BS. return hours.

Yep all three pairs are/went bad right? lol and two pairs one mine and the other my wife’s and we both notice within 24 hours of the second firmware being pushed on ANC Degradation. Rtings has already stated something is different on ANC and re-testing which are crazy high end audiophiles way better testing for such a lousy $275 device. Also, Reddit and Apple Discussion Board is over 2000 now and has a mass fix the firmware or return them attitude. Also, Apple Care+ peeps are getting sent new pairs too and guess what all broken too per postings lol...So you weren’t an early adopter or have rough hearing which is the forums opinion/guess and that's probably what Apple is praying on. If you hear someone talking beside you normally or snap your finger moderately with no music then yours are broken too srs.
Apple is yet to respond other than someone last week stated they said please wait for next patch. People who bought after mid November or who truly didn’t test in store during launch have 0 clue on how aggressive the ANC was.
