My airpods pro just updated to version 0C80, hopefully the static noise that popped up once in a while with the old firmware is now gone.
Would love it if Apple could share a changelog, anybody found one on the internet?

How do you manage to be directly aware that there is a firmware update?

excuse me i misspoke. How do you know when there is an update available for airpods pro?
:) Actually the answer remains the same, when you plug the APP's in a computer (just charging might be enough) with your phone nearby they will update automagically when an update is available.
I just check once in a while if the firmware version changes, Apple doesn't appear to announce any APP firmware updates nor do they publically release the changelogs for it as far as I'm aware.

How is the ANC in comparison to the last firmware? Is it finally better now like it was at the beginning?

There’s no notification for the AirPods.

Just follow the steps here & they’ll auto-update themselves...

Is the ANC fixed? Still stuck on 2B588

I think that Apple have definitely withdrawn 2C54 as I’ve just picked up a brand-new set of AirPods pros from an Apple Store which arrived in the store yesterday so they are factory fresh and the firmware is 2B588. So that’s what new AirPods have been shipped with unless anyone else knows different. I’ve put them on the charger and normally they update to the latest firmware within five minutes but there is no update happening so 2B588 is now the latest firmware

So i got bored whilst making dinner and called Apple support to ask if they had pulled 2C54. I just could not get an answer from them when I asked what the current firmware release number is. The guy spoke to his supervisor and I don't think they actually know as they just said to keep trying to upgrade the firmware and if it doesn't update then to return the AirPods. Its a load of cr*p as 2C54 is definitely non-existent now.
They did say that they hadn't heard of version 0C80 though and have no record of it.

Screenshot? = )
Sry i must have been misstaken. Although I’m sure this morning I saw 0C80 it now identifies the firmware version as 2C54. 😯

Really sorry about the confusion. Will double, no triple check what it says and make screenshots next time. 🥵

[edit]
Just a quick thought...
Could I’ve interrupted the firmware update process and it defaults to 0C80?

Not worries. We all make mistakes. Interesting that you have managed to update to 2C54 as no one else seems to be able to do that and my factory fresh AirPods are on 2B588 which was the previous gen.

Not sure if this helps any, but I received a pair of (new and sealed) AirPods v2 for Christmas. They were still on firmware 1A673. I let them update and it went to 2A364. I would guess that it would have updated to 2C54 if it was available.

Yeah i have. Online orders are still a 4 week wait but yesterday, my nearest store got one set in. Just one set so i reserved them and picked them up this afternoon. They seem ok but the charge indicator is all over the place and wont report an accurate battery charge. I think it's a software issue. Will keep an eye on things.

lucky you! In Italy the store have many sets for the pick up, so I’m not convinced about the batch issue we were talking some days ago.

let’s hope this pair is a keeper 🤞
