According to someone Reddit who works
At an Apple Store they did just receive them. It's possible they will come out this week (of course it could be a lie).

It may be the 28th, or it could be after Apple announces an event this month i'm guessing for the 27th. The rumour is Apple will hold a Mac event on that date, not sure if it will be Mac only tho.

Rumor is Apple is going to have these things back ordered until 2020 because they failed to plan and produce enough stock to get started and launch will be botched like that of iPhone 7

I thought that rumor was put to rest? Has there been any indication of an October event recently? I know that rumor was strong a few months ago.

Why would AirPods need to be "announced" again during a Mac event? They were already announced and they make the best and obvious pairing with an iPhone.

I mean, sure, a mention or something, but Apple could just be like "available today!" at any point.

can't seem that particular comment mentioned earlier of the alleged apple store staff member

Yes, it appears the comment and the comments after are now gone.

He claimed he was an inventory specialist for Apple and got them over the weekend. Went running with them and they didn't fall out. He did mention what store he was from so maybe he got spooked.

Weird that his entire comment and the ones after are now gone. I didn't know a user could delete a whole set.

thanks for updating & verifying!!
inventory specialist, sounds legit...as if an "inventory specialist" at apple is not aware of his NDA (or whatever) agreements

The Beats X at its price point is expensive. Sure it'll sound better but it's nothing special. Aside from the easier pairing, there are tons of other bluetooth headphones with the same design.

Do the beats X have the W1 chip? It is really hard to find information on that.

I read it too, I fear these things will be very hard to get in the beginning, so need to jump on them the moment Apple puts them up for sale.

He seemed to not really realize they were not "out" yet.

Yeah, I would buy one even if you are unsure. Worse comes too worse they have a 14 day return policy.

If they are anything like the Apple Pencil they will be very hard to get in the beginning. I'm going to try and get them as soon as they go up here in the UK, if I don't like them I'll just return them.

I guess they go on sale at midnight Pacific time, so that's 8am for you (9am) for me. Just a matter of checking daily at that time ;)

people are using the nike AW as a basis. That was randomly released, so most expect the same from the air pods.
