Yes, and it will give you an option to trade in your phone also. I just joined IPU for this phone. We'll see how it goes.
If you were currently on iUP for the iPhone X and you upgrade, typically it will be a soft check. But I read some had hard pull as well.
I went on Apple Store app and got pre-approved as soon as the store came back online.
now just waiting to pre-order my XS Max.
I opened up a thread for the same issue and turned out that it wasn't just me. My case has been resolved thanks to many ppl who got contacted apple for the same matter and you may as well call them during tomorrow before the pre-order goes online!

Thank you for the info! How long did it take to resolve your issue? They told me 24-48 hours, and I called last night. Really hoping it's done before the end of the business day today.

IF you purchase a new phone straight out can you return your leased phone early and stop making payments?
Does Apple charge an upgrade fee on the apple program? I know I have to pay an extra month cause iPhone x came out in November. But is there also an upgrade fee this year?
No upgrade fee. Just whatever payments you have to make to make it to the 12th payment.
IPU noob here. I assume Apple will pull a hard credit inquiry for first time upgrade plan subscriber. However, does the full price of the iPhone show up as a loan on my credit report when I get the plan?
yes it will be hard credit but the loan does not show up on the credit report! atleast thats what it is in my case!
I had the option as well but didn't select it for both pre-approvals I did. I am thinking about changing it but not sure if I can do that now. Hopefully have the option at checkout to switch it.
i think you can but if you already have your phone selected and stuff I rather no risk getting delayed if I was you
You should go on NOW and change your pre-order. It’s gonna be chaos if you do it during the order time nad youll have to literally start from scratch. At least, thats how it was last year. It may delayyour ship date.
Maybe they made it easier this year but i doubt it - changing sizes changes the loan amount and that will require a new inquiry if memory serves.
before the apple store went down when i went on it said when i go to complete my order i can change it
