So they didn’t keep the starting price at 1199. Specs are still pretty good.

Edit:
Sorry, I made a mistake, I was in the education store.
Increase in Ram for the same price is a welcome addition.

Is it? In the UK the website product page was still showing the M3 iMac even though the home screen was advertising M4. A few minutes later the product page has been updated showing 16 GB base RAM

edit: at 15:11 GMT the iMac tech specs page is showing the M4 configs, but the pre-order button still takes you to the M3 iMac page... sloppy, Apple!
That is probably an Akamai-cache link that hasn’t refreshed in all zones yet. 10 minutes later, the link goes to an M4 iMac page.

IIRC base price was $1299 for M3 8 GB / 256 GB too right?

Cuz right now Best Buy has them for $1499?!

Great to see M4 starting at 16 GB (albeit not for the iPad Pro), but the 8 GB upgrade to 24 GB is still $200.

EDIT:

After looking into it further, it appears the $1499 model is using the 10-core M3, although they don't actually specify that in the link title.

Personally would love it if they make one with the M4 pro chip but with this screen size
I know that's perhaps a bit strange but I would love to see that

or this display separate so I can pair it with a Mac mini. I am not interested in the overpriced studio display.

Nice color with that green btw

I know there's a lot of good stuff here... but really, 256GB storage standard still? and still $200 USD to upgrade to 512 GB... C'mon Apple, that upgrade costs you so little, throw us that bone.

It’s a desktop computer, so just hook up a 4TB external SSD that does 2000MB/s. This problem is easily solved. RAM is something that you cannot expand on the Mac.
