Still pretty good then and still means it can work with all the MagSafe accessories.
Not without case with MagSafe - as there are no magnets under back panel without case. Also no communication with charger (to lower heat) / accessories as it’s missing this protocol.

80% limit at night is already on my 11Pro with the same wireless charging :0

It's too expensive and i think the upcoming iPhone 17 will starts at $899 and in my country it will be much more expensive 🥲

Has it got a 120hz screen refresh rate? I might be looking over this feature but they haven’t mentioned it I believe.

You're kidding right?
It doesn't even have MagSafe!

(everyone relax - HJM and I are friends)

Tim Apple needs to be harder trying to penetrate the budget phone market. If I was buying a new iPhone, idgaf about specs. $599 is high price point

This phone makes no sense to buy at all unless a carrier will make it free
Bingo. Or else US$10 a month or something like that. This will be a popular budget choice for carriers.

However, it also makes perfect sense for tweens and teens. The kids around here seem to have generally purchased used non-Pros over the SEs, because the SEs are too small and have bad battery life. The 16e solves both problems, and adds Face ID too.

The price is still a bit too rich for my taste. But I think Apple went with the more expensive A18 for battery consumption reasons.
I think the A18 is there to provide a future floor for iOS support the next 5 years. Everything at 8gb of RAM.

In euros after doing the exchange rate and adding VAT Apple still managed to put in an extra.

Maybe a little bit but $800 USD is misleading as it suggests a retail price $200 USD more than in the U.S.

In Italy, for example, the pre-VAT price of the 128GB iPhone 16e is around €591 which at the current exchange rate is around $614 USD. Not that much different than the $599 pre-sales tax U.S. price. Plus, don't phones in the EU get additional warranty coverage?

And the 16 will likely drop to £$699, at which point the 16e will have to drop to £$499 otherwise Apple won't sell any at all when the extra £$100 gets you a bag of riches.

Will not happen
Not how Tim rolls

This is the new first party "entry price" - permanently

Folks should only get this phone on a major discount from a carrier or 3rd party

But who in their right mind wouldn't pay the extra £$100?! They'll have to lower the price to sell any.

I like what they are trying to do here, but no mag safe or promotion is not something I can consider in 2025.

It will be VERY interesting to see how Samsung prices the Galaxy A36 if they decide to make it available for the US market. That could be a very compelling alternative to the iPhone 16e.

And how does this only have 128 GB of storage? They might as well tell people they can't install apps.

All current iPhone models start at 128GB storage, even the 16 Pro.

I have 128GB and I’ve never even got close to filling it. And most apps don’t use much space: For the most part you only really need more than 128GB if you take a lot of videos, or you have a big photo library and don’t want to use iCloud.
