This is pretty much a modernized XR(which I have now).
Latest chip just like XR got, Intel modem just like XR, single camera like XR, 6,1 inch with notch just like XR, no MagSafe like XR..
IIRC it might be slightly cheaper than XR was too, and for that we get 128GB and OLED. So not too bad IMO.

This is DOA and should be avoided over getting the standard 16 at $799. You're getting more phone for your money with that phone than this.
You think everyone lives in the US? It is a vast world out here, thank god.
It supports Satellite, as indicated in the specification pages where the service is available, such as on the Japanese Apple Store.

The above basically means SOS via satellite, find my via satellite (for rescue purposes I guess).
iPhone 15 has MagSafe and a wide angle lens as well as the Dynamic Island. Just not Apple intelligence, which I turned off anyway lol. I’m happy with my iPhone 15 actually.
Relatively speaking, no one wants a 5.4 inch display but Apple sold zillions of iPhones with a 5.8 inch display. That’s the sweet spot for a small iPhone.
Magsafe has been around since the standard iPhone 12. They included the Action Button, which is barely over a year old. 🤷♂️
The combination of smaller size & lower price had me intrigued for a bit, but the lack of mag safe is a deal breaker for me - will probably look into a 16/16 pro now

No magsafe seems like a huge miss. That's a deal breaker for me. I am surprised Apple left this out. I wonder if it was do to cost, or manufacturing/space issues.
£120 for larger size, more RAM, better camera, better modem, better chip, emergency SOS via satellite, crash detection, ceramic shield, AI, super retina XDR display, and more.
The display seems to be same as iPhone 13/14 based on form-factor, resolution and brightness. Not including MagSafe seems odd, given that it has been included since iPhone 12.
You're welcome to freely hand over more and more money for goods and services both essential and inessential, even celebrate it. If you find value in spending a greater percentage of your wages (which have not kept pace with the rise in inflation) that is your choice to make. I may end up making the same choice, based on my needs. But I won't do it quietly. I am not servile to a trillion dollar company's pricing games.

IMO, this is the first SE that doesn't suck. HUGE improvement in battery life and much bigger screen, something that people actually want. Price is higher unfortunately, but so be it. Perfect for kids. This will sell well subsidized by the carriers.
not including MagSafe is shortsighted. They would make up the cost purely on accessories.
I do not believe the other SE's had MagSafe, so I'm not sure why you would expect this one to?

The problem is that it is too good: Features are sufficiently close to iPhone 16 and thus the price needs to be close to that as well.
This leaves Apple lineup without a truly affordable option. There should be way for people to get to Apple ecosystem at $399 price point — even if that option would seem ridiculously limited by most iPhone users (this is not for them, this is for the ones who are coming from 5 year old low-end Android and do not care about any features at all). iPhone mini with A18 could be it.

The only slightly intriguing thing to me is the battery life. They're making some pretty big claims, having it be close to the battery life of the Plus line. I don't know if it's worth risking with a 1st gen modem, but the battery life they're claiming is appealing.
