No it's not. 8GB of RAM can still do a lot of Photoshop and video editing work at 4k resolution. Memory Pressure is still in the green on some of the client computers I see.
That is fine for the base configuration, but they keep it at 8GB for the two higher configurations too. So anything more than 8GB is BTO. Meaning retailers won’t be able to carry (and discount) any more than 8GB configurations.

Have you used a M chip with 8GB of RAM as a basic user? it's perfectly fine. I have a M1 Mini with 8GB/256 SSD and it's doing a ton of stuff all day with no issues. Not everyone needs a massive amount of RAM or Space, but if you do, pay and upgrade. Armchair consumers think they know better than Apple which has every but of data at their fingertips is still mind blowing.
How much RAM and storage do iPhone's get now? If its not important, why do those go up every year?

It's still perfectly adequate for sure but it's not acceptable at Apple's starting price.
You can't base it on Memory. If you look at Intel systems you can get 16GB but get crappy i5s in them. I would rather take the better SoC over an increase in RAM.

“Perfect size to replace both the 21.5” and 27” iMacs.”

There goes all the hope that 27” iMac users had left, at least for a good while.

Sorry guys!
I am sooo disappointed there is no 27 iMac. I would love for someone to ask Apple why. I can only speculate they do not want to cannibalise the sales of Mac mini and Studio, but still. What difference does it make to them? Making a 27" would not be that expensive in terms of research and design, and I would not think they are making such profit margins on mini and Studio. Why push some consumers of the all-in-one design towards Windows? Why disappoint your loyal fanbase??!!

Replacing a very old and stunningly slow nearly 7 year old 21.5 inch intel iMac in our kitchen with a M3 Silver iMac / 1 TB / 24 GB config. Excited for another very long term iMac computer for general family use. My personal M1 MacBook Air will live on in my office connected to a Studio Display until I likely replace it with a M4 Mac Studio in a 18-24 months or so. I *love* how long these computers remain practical and functional. Only question (and it wasn't going to stop me from buying) but did they replace the Lightning connection ports on the keyboard and mouse with USB-C? If not that's a big surprise, but not a terribly big deal.

I have no idea, I dont' care about RAM in my iPhone (does anyone?) since its a phone and storage I have 128GB and its perfectly fine? Apple has the data and can see what people use storage-wise and what apps they use and how draining it is.

Pay to upgrade if you want and let the base price be $1299 and not $1499. Not everyone wants what YOU want

Yes it felt like he was really driving the point home. I’ve got a studio display coming tomorrow which i will test with my iPad Pro and if that doesn’t feel right I’ll pick up an mini.

Does it come with USB-C accessories? Didn't see them mention that and would seem insane to launch brand new product without?

Man, I feel kind of let down by this; the brand new 2023 iMac is exactly the same as the 2021 iMac except for a different chip. Everything else: RAM, storage, design, etc... it's unchanged after two years. 😅

I wasn't really expecting a special 25th anniversary iMac or anything, but I hoped Apple would at least increase the starting model's storage space or something, you know? (seriously, 256 GB in 2023? Sheesh.)

Huge letdown.... All i wanted was a M3 Imac that could handle 2 external monitor support...super simple...I like a panoramic view! The old Intel macs could do that no problem! But these brand new M3 chips cant do that on a desktop Imac setup? Common
