Did I mishear, or did the presentation have something like "the option of a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID"? Because there's no such "option" when you try to order one: you get it whether you want it or not.

Man, I feel kind of let down by this; the brand new 2023 iMac is exactly the same as the 2021 iMac except for a different chip. Everything else: RAM, storage, design, etc... it's unchanged after two years. 😅

I wasn't really expecting a special 25th anniversary iMac or anything, but I hoped Apple would at least increase the starting model's storage space or something, you know? (seriously, 256 GB in 2023? Sheesh.)
Heck, I'd even be fine with the base model having 12GB of RAM and a 320GB SSD.

I really think there will be a 32” iMac Pro of some sort towards the end of next year. Maybe with a space black option would be nice. I guess we’re just gonna have to wait it out.
Maybe. But why a 32" and not a 27"?? Why??? Is there really more demand for a 32" than a 27"?

A total missed opportunity for a Space Black model. That could have been the best seller of the year.

You can't base it on Memory. If you look at Intel systems you can get 16GB but get crappy i5s in them. I would rather take the better SoC over an increase in RAM.

The jury is still out on the M3 but the past generations of Apple Silicon haven't been particularly competitive in the desktop where thermals/power consumption is less critical. A "crappy" $1300 i5 machine will beat an M1 iMac quite handily all day long.

No M3 Pro, no M3 Max, no USB-C mouse or keyboard. This feels like an afterthought of a product.
wait till apple announce USB-C magic mouse and USB-C magic keyboard. together with USB-C magic keypad😃

Huge letdown.... All i wanted was a M3 Imac that could handle 2 external monitor support...super simple...I like a panoramic view! The old Intel macs could do that no problem! But these brand new M3 chips cant do that on a desktop Imac setup? Common
Mac Mini or Studio plus big Ultra-wide monitor. My 40” Dell 5K 2K ultrawide pairs great with Mac Desktops. Could never go back to roughly 16:10 displays. Looks as great as the old iMac 27” screen to my good eyes but so much wider.

The marketing for the Imac makes no sense - the montage of people doing cool things at the beginning of the scary event and then they try to sell you an imac with 256gb SSD and 8gb ram - grandma machine or for your elementary school student. No serious non-laptop machine for power mac users with the M3. Dumb.

Honestly, they're not even trying anymore with the iMac line. Too small of a market.

It was such an afterthought and nothing new apart from the chip.
I don't see them bringing back the 27" ever.

... a M3 Silver iMac / 1 TB / 24 GB config. Excited for another very long term iMac computer for general family use.
Understand the desire for prepping for future bloatware.

But I was hoping Apple would reconfigure their pricing structure for SDRAM and the NAND chips. Both have fallen in price this year, compared to their high prices during 2020-2021 when the chip shortage thing happened.

Now, no one has commented on the quality of the NAND that Apple uses. All SSDs are not alike, there is a range of NAND chips they can use. Some are going to be longer lasting than others.

The M3 still has the 100GB/s memory bus speed. That's a good value, but the higher models of the M3 do much better.

Overall, I think I'm most disappointed by the price schedule, not the specs. An M3 iMac will be more than capable for 98% of the households who want one.

“It’s the perfect size and resolution to replace both the 4K and the 5K Intel based models.”

There goes all the hope that 27” iMac users had left, at least for a good while.

Sorry guys!

it is NOT NOT NOT the perfect size to replace the 27”

In first part of event Apple was self raving about the GPU performance of new M3 chip. I’m thinking like “this is it. We getting 27” back!” Instead I get the Jedi mind reversal.

I just can’t understand how we this far along and 24” iMac screen best they can or will do.

Exactly, that’s why they have not released a a new larger, pro iMac. They want people to buy the studio products.
Then give us a bloody more affordable 27" monitor!!! The Studio Display is so expensive, not to mention the Pro Display... I am  I understand profits, but I guessed they would eventually offer the 27" after holding back to help the Studio products. Offering a 24" and claiming it's "the perfect replacement for the 4K and the 5K Intel based models" feels like being told a lie without them even trying to hide it. A bit like when Cook was overselling the iPad pro by saying "I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC any more? No really, why would you buy one?"
