Hi everyone,
I applied online on Tuesday and got a call Wednesday from a recruiter for the short phone screen. On Monday I have Skype interview #1.
I have questions about the HireRight thing so that I have all the documents I need ready, should I get through the rest of the interview process and have an offer. Can anyone tell me exactly what they will ask for? Is 1 W-2 from each employer sufficient or will they want one for every tax year I was at that employer? I have an employer from back in 2005-2008 on my resume. Will they want a W-2 from that far back? I don't think I have one and don't even know how to go about getting one because it was so long ago. But if I will need one, I'll make a phone call on Monday to get the ball rolling, seeing as it looks like all the interview rounds take several weeks to get through.
Also at my current employer, I started as a contractor and then got hired on as an employee. So on my resume and on my job application it says (fake dates here, just an example: June 2013-present) but in reality I was a contractor June 2013-September 2013 and then actually employed September 2013-present. Are the HireRight forms pre-populated with your resume info, or do we fill that in ourselves? I'd rather be able to put September 2013-present down to avoid issues if I can. I just went through all my papers and I can't find the 1099 from being a contractor but I have my W-2. I'm sure I could ask my employer for a duplicate copy of the 1099 but I'd rather not if possible. Or would it knock me out of the running if they call to verify with June 2013 as a start date but the check comes back as September 2013 for my start date?
Edit: also, my current W-2 says the name of our payroll company on it rather than my actual company. So there's that. It makes me very nervous that I won't pass a background check due to these nuances. Is there an area that we can write notes for HireRight to review and consider?
I really need this job, it would be a lateral move but a big increase in pay/benefits over my current role because it's Apple direct hire. So I want be sure all my HireRight stuff is completely perfect and ready to go if I make it through all the interview rounds. It sounds like HireRight is tougher to pass than the interview process, based on this forum!
Thank you!
