I thought it might help to create a list of the steps and general waiting times. There's no standard wait or response times but each step does seem to fall within a general range.

Application to first interview call - this is the broadest range. Some people heard the same day, others heard back 6 months later. The call is generally 10 minutes with a recruiting screener. They will ask a few questions and will schedule you for the second interview while on the phone. The screener may give you his/her phone number.

First interview to second interview - the second interview is usually scheduled during the first interview call and is within a week after that call, and you'll get a confirmation email. This interview is done via HireVue video call or FaceTime. Not sure if Skype is still being used. The second interview is done with your assigned recruiter. Note that recruiter's name in the confirmation email. The recruiter's email address should also be in that confirmation email. This interview will be more in-depth questions and some role play scenarios.

The recruiter may tell you at the end of the interview they'd like to move forward and you'll receive an email to schedule the third interview. Or they may tell you that you'll hear back within some time period. Some people have heard back after a week that they want to schedule the third interview. If you're not selected to move forward, generally you'll get an email within that week.

The third interview scheduling email contains a link to page where you can select from available dates and times for that interview based on the interviewing manager's schedule.

Third interview to hiring offer pending BGC - The third interview is conducted by a hiring manager and will be some of the same questions as the second interview and similar role plays also via HireVue or FaceTime. The manager will not give you status at the end of the interview, but they will say that you'll hear within 1-2 weeks. This is one of the hardest phases to wait out. If they make an offer it will be via phone. If you're not selected, they'll notify you via email. Some people have received the phone call or email 3 days after the interview, others up to a week later.

Offer pending BGC to BGC email - The BGC email contains a link to the HireRight website to complete the background checking forms, which start the process. If they've made you an offer pending BGC, generally they'll say you'll get the email within 24-48 hours after the call. Some people have received theirs within a few hours, others a couple days after the call.

BGC completion to official offer call - The timeframe to get the BGC completed is so different for everyone, but generally within 7 business days after you submit the HireRight form. After the BGC report status is complete and you can see the Adjudication Status on the report, generally you'll get the official offer call within 2-5 business days. The offer call will confirm your start date, pay rate, and shift.

Official offer call to welcome email - This can range from a few days to a couple of weeks, and seems to be dependent on the starting date. That email will also tell you when your paperwork package should arrive. This will contain the official welcome letter, employment forms, and benefits information. I've read here that it's overnighted. It will also contain info about signing up for a paperwork online session. I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to frame that welcome letter!

Hope this helps and please add whatever you think will help too. Did I miss anything major?

This is awesome!!

Well I am one eager beaver. It hasn't even been a full 24 hours but I was curious so I called HireRight. Surprisingly my bgc is already at 72% complete. They are just waiting on county records. I really want to go into the weekend seeing it's complete. SO, im going to speak it into existence!

Update: 6/19 10:30 cst bgc 83% complete. They are waiting to hear from my current county records and the county i lived in 7 years ago. He said the projected turn around time was 3-4 days so hopefully Monday it will show as complete. I'm going to try not to check it obsessively in the meantime.

Just wanted to note that the overseas process (read: outside of America) differs significantly, at least in my own personal experience :) as in, I had one phone interview, submitted BGC, then FaceTime interview, then conference, then firm offer as BGC was completed. In that order. Also everything was via email apart from the interviews. Including receiving my offer and documents.

So, I received my first call from an Apple recruiter yesterday. It lasted about 15 minutes. She sounded excited to get me moved on to a second interview, but she didn't schedule it on the call, she just said she was going to forward my information and that I would get a call to schedule my second.... Has this happened to anybody else?

Quick question, I start my apple job very soon, and I purchased the adequate Internet speeds from my provider(12mbps down, 1 mbps up) however whenever I do my speed test my upload speed will fluctuate between 1mbps up and 0.93 upload. Does anyone know how strict Apple is in regards to their upload speed? I know they say 1mbps upload, however since it is such a minor amount that fluctuates, will I be let go because of this?
Who was your recruiter? Jared Wynne is mine.. i'm curious to what questions he likes to ask! im so excited

If i remember correctly, my second interview was scheduled while i was on the phone with her, she wanted to make sure the date and time worked okay for me. After that i got an email confirmation of the date and time wr agreed on.

The recruiter didn't set up the next interview with me on the phone, she said I would get an email the next Monday (which I still haven't got) to set up the next interview.

Denial email hit today :(

I thought I got a weird vibe at the end of my 3rd interview.

My application is still locked on apple jobs though, so I can't apply to retail or anything at the moment =S

My wait time was 3 business days to the hour from when my interview ended to get the rejection email.

Congrats to all who make it.

I'm sorry to hear that. Don't worry, you could always reapply and try again... Just keep that last interview fresh and try and think of what may have triggered the rejection. For me, the first time, I didn't answer the interviewers questions, I would get off the subject (I was really nervous), I definitely wasn't prepared for the scenario. There was a situation where she said, "I just got back from my honeymoon and lost all my pictures". I immediately started going through troubleshooting, when I should have congratulated her and built rapport. Learning lesson for my second go at the job and I got the offer :) I reapplied 6 months later, btw.

So I have read that the waiting after the 3rd interview is the hardest, I am hoping someone can put my mind at ease?

First interview (phone call on 6/2) went great, she wanted me to do my 2nd interview asap - but I was on vacation so we scheduled for the day after I returned.

2nd interview (6/9 via HireVue) also went well, good rapport and 2 troubleshooting chat roleplays. She wanted to schedule my 3rd right away - got an email 48 hours later to pick my interview time this week.

3rd interview (Today via HireVue) - I think went well? I had good rapport with my interviewer (team lead) he was smiling and asking the general questions, we moved to chat roleplay (I answered and behaved the same as my 2nd interview role plays) but after we came back he seemed rushed and said "Okay well great any questions? alright well your recruiter will follow up in 2 weeks, or you follow up with your recruiter in 2 weeks one of the two I'm not sure, have a good one bye!"

Now in his defense we just hit 41mins - maybe he had to get going? or did I just bomb?

In my role plays I was very personable and empathetic - assuring the "customer" I understood their issue and I resolved both issues through simple methods. so I am unsure why his mood would have changed, any insight would be awesome!

I feel like we may have had the same team/hiring manager. My second interview was so good, and I was complimented, where as the third interview, the verbiage used by the person interviewing me really tripped me up and it was just verbal diarrhea as someone else said.

The chat part wasn't too hard until the double chat and my first person with a question just disappeared/stopped asking any questions. And though I felt like I should have gone back and asked if I resolved the issue, I kept going with my 2nd person. After the chat, I even asked the interviewer if the first person was still there and was told "yes, they still are" and though I tried to explain it was difficult to understand because of the way it was worded, but I knew. So now I'm waiting for that rejection next week. I had my hopes up for this!

Don't give up yet! I had my 3rd last Friday, got the rejection email this morning, so like the next business day.

You received your rejection email within 24 hours?

I feel like after reading this, that those who receive the 1-2 week reply are those who are offered the position, where as the 2 week reply are those who don't? Or am I crazy? Yes, the self doubt has crept in, but I'm pretty sure I can expect the rejection email.

I got my contingent offer 3 days after my 3rd interview. I think, this is just my assumption, that the recruiters go down the line of candidates, and issue either a rejection e-mail or an offer call. So if you have not received your rejection e-mail, you're still good! :)

I was told i would hear something within 2 weeks, i felt my chances of getting the job were very slim bc im not an interview person at all. I just got my call tho, waiting on background check email! So... i dont think the time they tell you to wait is any indicator of the decision.
